Having a phone would be a good start. Texting is cumbersome and not well suited for timely items. Problem occurred with contractor and Handy Buddy communications. I was not contacted by either. Contractor didn't return my call, Handy Buddy would not help as I was to work things out with contractor. After a week and a half I got another contractor. Handy Buddy will not refund my initial fee.

Don’t waste your money on Handy Buddy. They don’t vet their workers so in my case, my grill got assembled and parts were left off that were critical to the use of the burners. There’s no recourse with handy buddy because you can’t talk to anybody at happy buddy. You inquire on your assembling a grill and the next thing you know without any communication you get a bill in your text and if you want the service you pay it, if you don’t want the service you don’t pay it. There is absolutely no human contact until the worker gets to your house and there’s no way to know if they know what they’re doing until they leave and you realize they didn’t know what they were doing.
