We had the strangest experience in…

We had the strangest experience in Halliwell Jones, Warrington.
We went to see a car advertised on their website. When we arrived I gave the model and number plate to a friendly and polite receptionist who called a salesman.

So far so good.. until…we met the salesman!! The salesman said that they couldn’t find any trace of the car on their system. (It’s green and pretty remarkable!!) I said it was on the website. He said he couldn’t find it so I pointed to the exact car on the middle of his screen??!! At this point we were thinking something was very off and googled reviews of the garage!!
He then said as he had the number plate he could follow up on the car and then said that it had been sold yesterday then changed his mind a minute later after speaking to someone. We were then asked to wait ten minutes whilst the car could be accessed for a test drive. Fifteen minutes later he returned and said the car was on a ramp without wheels. He said he didn’t know when the wheels would arrive but asked for my details so he could be in touch.
I received an email two days later telling me the car was waiting for a part as part of a recall. He explained that there was no anticipated date for the part.
The car remains on the website. We won’t be returning to Halliwell Jones.

Southport BMW Helliwell Jones Stephen Hill Service Manager and the…

Stephen Hill Service Manager and the team at BMW Southport a very huge big thank you.
I got my retractable roof stuck. It took 3 technicians to free it manually before they could get it back to roof up position.
The following week they took it back in to the workshop at Southport to test it the roof in the open and closed position. They were really hoping it would work, or it would mean a new roof.
I was treated with kindness and empathy for my plight. Stephen Hill went the extra mile to make sure the team did everything possible to help. Thank you so very much its a big 10 out of 10 for me. Customer service most excellent 👏

I've recently purchased an R Nine T urban GS from this dealership, the process from start to finish has been fantastic, Gregg Etchells was brilliant wasn't pushy with the deal and went above and beyond, I also dealt with a gentleman Jake Thomas who finalised the process again can't thank him enough, ive never had service like this before, also just had my running in service and Jonathan Jones was extremely accommodating getting me in at such short notice, thank you all once again 😁

Wrong info on BMW MOTORRAD UK website

Arranged a test ride on a R1300GS online at BMW MOTORRAD UK and said which dealership to test ride at so picked halliwell jones chester for sunday 12th may , sunday morning get's up made up to test ride GS but think's leave it till about dinner time to go up , get's to dealship to be told nobody there to sort out a test ride as they do not work on a sunday on the bikes part only for cars (bit mad how many other bikers would like to speak to staff on a sunday that i spoke too) i said to nice lady on the desk not your fault but cost me fuel up here and showed her that i could book a test ride for the following sunday , she says will take your name etc and tell a member of staff to call me and that she has seen the sunday booking part , eventually this week get a call saying hi you interested in purchasing a R1300GS so said about what happened and he said O don't work on a sunday is there anything else i can help you with , said know thanks as they should have spoke to me as if they knew BMW had made the mistake and arranged for a nice test ride and sorted me something for wasting my day as it was nice out and could of gone out with family or a nice ride , they wanted me to say can i book another test ride , but as i felt they should of said what's the best day for you to come and do test ride and we will sort you out for the day for wasting your time a week odd ago , have been back on BMW MOTORRAD now and can still book another test ride for this sunday , so ANY BIKERS beware it will be a waste of your time booking a test ride on a sunday as BMW have not fixed this problem and i do not know how many other dealerships this applies too! Nice lady did offer me a hot drink tho but did not accept as long ride home after my wasted time.

Took my car in that is 18 months old for a warranty job, that was done fine except for the wash and vacuum after looks like it has been done with a scouring pad paint work absolutely ruined avoid this garage at all cost. I’ve now got to pay £400 for a full buff and polish to get rid of what these clowns have done, wouldn’t let them wash your wheel barrow.

Stay clear of Halliwell Jones…

Stay clear of Halliwell Jones Southport.
They will try every opportunity to not pay out on a warranty claim. You don't expect a £67k car to have faults and then to contact your local dealer to be told this is not within warranty and if I'm not happy with the outcome then "Just complain to BMW UK then"!
Never seen such poor aftersales

Purchased a vehicle less than 8 months…

Purchased a vehicle less than 8 months ago. Had brake vibration ever since. Now they want £975 to change just front pads and discs!

Had the car valued and it’s lost over 10 thousand pounds in 8 months of ownership. I’ll never buy from them or bmw ever again. I’ll go back to Audi for my future vehicles. Also found a bmw approved repair booklet in glovebox when I got home. Never told anything about a repair by HJ

Feel so cheated by them.

Mini valuation

I contacted Halliwell Jones Mini Chester about a valuation for my wife’s mini ( which was purchased new from them ). The valuation was £1500 lower than a local car supermarket and was by far the lowest quote I have received. When I explained this I was told “to sell the car to them”.
My wife has been very loyal to Halliwell Jones Mini Chester, this would have been her third brand new mini . May I congratulate Halliwell Jones you have just lost a loyal customer well done 😡

Recently booked my m50 x5 in to have…

Recently booked my m50 x5 in to have its airbag replaced also a small radiator..also on recall..
It cost me 30k a few months ago and it was warranted for 12 months.
Halliwell Jones messaged me saying their was an oil leak ..would I like them to explore and find out where it was coming from ..for a price of 156 pounds.
I agreed..then a bit later received a phone call saying it was the rear crank seal and it would cost over 1250 to replace but could be significantly more as being such an old car parts are brittle and could break..
That made me very worried..its gone 61 thousand miles ..ive covered a mere 1000 miles..and honestly thought bmws were made to last longer than 9 years ..
Just goes to show what do I know and to be honest a bit disappointed to be charged 156 just to be told of work that needs doing 🤔

Avoid - sold an accident repaired car without being told!

I purchased a used "approved" 2017 BMW X5 in March 2023 from Halliwell Jones Southport. All appeared well however rust quickly became visible on the slam panel under the bonnet which quickly worsened.
Contacted HJ who advised that this would not be covered under the 12 year anti corrosion warranty as it was classed as a bolt on panel and not part of the body.
I took the car to an independent garage who quickly advised that the car had had repair work completed on the front end at some point and the slam panel/air intake had been replaced and not prepared/painted correctly. They added that this would be immediately recognisable to anyone with a modicum of mechanical experience (not me!).

I highlighted this to Halliwell Jones and questioned how this, or any damage had been noted on the "meticulous technical and mechanical checks" they claim to carry out prior to approving used cars for sale. Their response was underwhelming - basically "tough, it's your problem now".

They have, quite clearly, taken advantage of a customers trust in the BMW brand to sell on what was clearly a damage repaired vehicle.

Be very careful - trustworthy?

Took my 6 series in for the safety air bag recall, MOT was also due. Customer service was initially good. They started MOT and aborted it as they said there was a toxic smell when AC was switched on (never happened before and not necessary check for MOT!). They also said they'd do a health check. Then said it'd cost £156 per hour to investigate with no guarantee of finding or solving the 'smell' and could be more. I felt as though they were searching for ways to make money out of me and would also use the health check for the same purpose. They did the air bag Ok and I cancelled the MOT and took the car away to another independent BMW service centre who checked the AC which was fine and passed the MOT. So be very careful as it appears that they ignore essential work in favour of increasing your bill unnecessarily.

Haliwell Jones Chester

I phoned up to ask about fixing a problem with my 1 Series (which I purchased here), as I was getting an error "Tyre pressure Monitor (RDC) failed".

Told by some rude young lady on the phone that they wanted £156 just to put the diagnostic computer on it, before they told me what the actual work would cost.

I obviously baulked at this, as it literally takes two minutes. The lady just continually spoke over me and then hung up on me...charming.

I ended up going to BM Autocare in Llay who reset my TPM and drove the car around. Put the diags on it and identified that I needed a new valve\sensor on my rear driver's side wheel. They didn't even want any payment for this.

I got this changed across the road at DMH Tyres for £96 all fixed - amazing.

Funnily enough, they won't accept diagnostics provided by anyone else - Must be so they can rip you off.

I will never go here or buy a car from here again as a result of my experience today. William in Manchester where I bought my 3 series...all the way.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

Halliwell Jones Wilmslow service - avoid

Halliwell Jones Wilmslow - had a service and MOT. Problems:
1. Cost - it cost over £600
2. The car went into the garage in good order and came out with an oil leak (that I then had to go back to get fixed, and it was due to a fault with the service)
3. They didn't do everything I wanted done

I would really like to hi-light Marcus Hoyle at Wilmslow Jones BMW for the outstanding sales service that I received when purchasing a 2019 BMW 435d from the dealership. Nothing was too much trouble and the car was very well prepped for when I picked it up. I travelled quite a distance to buy the right car, which can be a risk or inconvenience, but Marcus made the whole process effortless and fault free.

Absolute shocking!

Absolute shocking!

Car Warranty runs out next week and as they can't get it in beforehand then it's pointless..

They actually tried to get me to pay for the extended Warranty which would cover it whilst the fault is still within the standard 3 year Warranty..

After Williams Liverpool stitching me up with a previous fault I thought I'd try Haliwell Jones (all the same)

Cars are great but the aftercare is SHOCKING!!!
