Ben is extremely professional and personable, he has been brilliant throughout the duration of my contract. We have worked together to make the budget fit with the client and because of this, the contract continues to get extended. It is refreshing to have a recruiter who doesn't just think of the money but will work to make sure it is an affordable and benefical service all round. Ben is always available if I have any questions or need help with invoices/payments etc. All in all he is a star and a total 10/10!
Gravitas Group - Ben Nickolson Recruitment Agent
I had a great experience working with Gravitas Group, particularly with Ben Nickolson. From start to finish, the process was handled with professionalism, transparency, and genuine care.
Ben stood out for his clear communication, responsiveness, and deep understanding of both client and candidate needs. He took the time to understand my goals and consistently provided thoughtful guidance and support throughout the process. What impressed me most was his honesty and commitment to finding the right fit rather than just pushing for a quick outcome.
Overall, Gravitas Group demonstrates a high standard of service, and Ben is a real asset to their team. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional recruitment partner.
Excellent experience from Gravitas
I recently worked with Ben through a senior recruitment process and was hugely impressed by the standard of his work. His engagement, communication and professionalism were some of the best I’ve come across from a recruiter.
Ben was proactive, well organised and supportive throughout, keeping me informed at every stage and making sure I had the right information and guidance ahead of each conversation. He clearly cares about doing a great job for both his clients and his candidates, and that came through consistently in how he handled the process.
He is personable, responsive and highly credible, and I would be very happy to recommend him.
Tom at Gravitas was excellent…
Tom at Gravitas was excellent throughout the whole process of helping me secure my role at Canterbury City Council. What really stood out was the quality of the prep work he did before I even spoke to the client. He made sure I was well briefed on the role, the organisation, and what would matter most in the conversation, which gave me the confidence to go in fully prepared and ultimately helped me secure the position.
Once the role was agreed, Tom and the wider Gravitas team made the onboarding process incredibly smooth and straightforward. Everything was handled efficiently, communication was clear, and any questions were dealt with quickly. That meant I could focus my attention on getting started and delivering for Canterbury City Council, rather than getting caught up in admin. I’d happily recommend Tom and Gravitas to anyone looking for a professional, supportive, and highly effective recruitment partner.
Gravitas are excellent
My personal experience with Gravitas has been excellent, truly professional people who really know their industry.
In particular I have to praise Ben Nicholson who placed me in my current role and helped me secure two contract extensions already. Ben is one of the best recruiters I’ve ever worked with - not only does Ben have brilliant industry insight, and truly gets the intricacies of my role but he also possesses great emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, as well as a genuine desire to listen and help. I can’t recommend him highly enough!
Very supportive throughout the recruitment process and onboarding of a new role
Certainly the best experience I've had with a recruiter to date - Oliver and Yafet were both excellent, with regular contact and updates throughout the process, useful pre-interview preparation and prompt feedback. After securing the role (and assisting with salary negotiations), they stayed in touch during the onboarding process and continued to provide excellent support. Would recommend Gravitas without reservation.
Multiple lawsuits involved
Edit: Gravitas flagged this review for defamation to silence me, deny my experience and avoid accountability for their actions, but Trustpilot determined that it is not defamatory.
In response to "Tell us more about your experience":
I was contacted by a recruiter about a role. He was friendly and helpful. I got the role.
I wish to warn prospective contractors about issues they may face with Gravitas in terms of conduct and contracts.
For context, I am in the process of suing someone at the client company for acting in a way which directly led to my termination and loss of a significant amount of income.
I've seen no evidence to suggest that Gravitas verified that the client company had acted fairly, transparently and in good faith prior to terminating the contract.
The UK Technology Director at Gravitas made two important statements:
1. That she wanted to join a call between myself and the client company CEO as a mediator, only to state in the call something indicative that she was in fact aligned with the CEO instead of as a neutral mediator. I find this misleading and unfair.
2. That a contract with a start and end date 3 months apart, and marketed to me as a 3 month contract, is instead a 2-week rolling contract simply because it has a 2-week notice period mentioned. I cannot see how someone could reasonably interpret the contract that way.
It would make sense if Gravitas earns significantly more money from the client company than they did from myself. Gravitas has sided with the client company. I have used these facts to come to some conclusions about motive.
The contract that Gravitas provided is extremely restrictive and risky for contractors. In my contract, if the client company terminates the contract with them, Gravitas believes they can terminate the contract with me in turn, without reason, as long as they follow the notice period. If the client is legitimately able to terminate their contract for, for example, any reason whatsoever even if false, then the contractor is out of work with no option for recourse.
I advise against agreeing to any contract which does not explicitly require good faith and proper termination procedure by the client company, to protect your contract if the client company acts in bad faith or not with proper procedure.
I have begun legal proceedings against Gravitas due to my experience and serious financial harm which I believe they could have prevented.
They have not paid the requested settlement. They have implied that they would require the settlement to instead come from the client company. I am still seeking payment for lost income. I can prove that the UK Technology Director has asserted twice that - and I closely paraphrase - no court will judge in my favour in this case. I interpret this as the UK Technology Director giving legal advice without formal instruction and pressuring me not to exercise my legal rights.
Ultimately, I believe that people at Gravitas have not acted appropriately, leading to serious financial harm and surrounding lawsuits.
5* service from Harry from Gravitas
The experience with Harry from Gravitas was one of a kind. Never had this type of support not only throughout the recruitment process, but also after I got the role, during the role and at the end of the contract. Harry made sure I settled in alright in the role, had periodically check-in calls and was supportive, so he deserves the shoutout.
Good overall experience.
Good overall experience.
Worked with Craig to recruit a role for my team. Brought me numerous CVs, and we interviewed 7 candidates, 2 of whom we offered the role. Whilst neither ended up taking it, it was clear that Craig understood the brief and worked hard to get a candidate that would suit. He kept us in the loop and had open discussions. Would use again.
Gravatis…Always my go to
I have been acquainted with Gravatis recruitment and Yaf for over 8 years now and he is passionate about what he does and this shows through in his dedication to help all his clients. He is personable and professional which makes it easy to have faith in his ability to make sure that the right person is appointed and will fit in to whichever environment they are placed not only based on their skill set but also them as a person, ensuring they are a match with those they will be working with.
Yaf is the person you want in your corner helping you to secure your new big opportunity.

The company gives people a real chance to develop in recruitment.
Lots of positives and a place where people are really able to develop and be encouraged.
The recruiter called with an urgent…
The recruiter called with an urgent contract role. Even though I clarified my current contract doesn't expiry for 2 months, they kept repeating 'no worries, no worries'. They were pushing to get the management / hiring leads in my company. They sent me the email to give my consent for them to represent me, after that, I never had any follow up from them. It looks like the company hires juniors only to call people and get the next leads. Avoid.
A Mixed Experience at Gravitas: Pros and Cons of Working Here
I recently had the opportunity to consider working at Gravitas, and after conducting thorough research and evaluating my personal experiences, I found both positives and negatives worth highlighting about the organization.
Pros:
One of the key strengths of Gravitas lies in its exceptional training program, making it an excellent place for individuals seeking their first recruitment position. The company invests in equipping its employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
Furthermore, Gravitas offers a competitive commission scheme, which sets them apart from many other firms in the industry. This incentivizes employees and provides an opportunity to earn rewarding compensation for their hard work.
In terms of the work environment, the office at Gravitas exudes a positive vibe, and the colleagues are enjoyable to work with. The camaraderie among team members contributes to a pleasant atmosphere, which is conducive to collaboration and professional growth.
Cons:
Unfortunately, my experience with Gravitas was not without its drawbacks. As a recruitment firm, they initially expressed interest in meeting with me, but the conversation was abruptly discontinued, leaving me feeling ghosted. This lack of communication can be frustrating and unprofessional.
One aspect that stood out was the heavy level of micromanagement within the organization. It was not uncommon for high-level staff members to regularly monitor employees in the office. This level of scrutiny can be demotivating and hinder autonomy in one's work.
Moreover, one common concern raised by ex-employees is the limited number of available roles at Gravitas. This can create a competitive and challenging environment, where opportunities for career advancement may be limited.
Another noteworthy aspect is that some ex-staff members mentioned finding better positions elsewhere after leaving Gravitas. While this may be subjective, it suggests that there might be room for improvement in terms of long-term career prospects within the organization.
Additionally, the working hours at Gravitas are relatively long, with a start time of 8:30 and a finish time of 5:30. Although the company claims to provide mental well-being lunch breaks, totaling 3 x 1.5 hours per week, it can be perceived as an attempt to conceal the longer working hours that may not be necessary.
Furthermore, Gravitas seems to show reluctance in embracing remote work, which can be a downside for individuals seeking a more flexible work arrangement. This resistance to adapt to the changing work landscape may impact the work-life balance for some employees.
Lastly, it is worth noting that the abundance of Glassdoor reviews for Gravitas, particularly the rapid influx of positive reviews within short periods, raises questions about the authenticity of these reviews. It gives the impression that the company may be encouraging employees to write positive reviews, which undermines the purpose of the platform.
Conclusion:
My experience with Gravitas has been a mix of positive and negative aspects. The company offers excellent training opportunities, a competitive commission scheme, and a pleasant work environment. However, issues such as communication gaps, micromanagement, limited roles, reluctance to embrace remote work, outdated technology, and potential concerns regarding the authenticity of reviews should be considered when making a decision about joining the organization.
Not very professional
Recruiter just sends out irrelevant bulk messages to me on linkedin. Providing me a hybrid job offer while my profile clearly states full-remote only.
Mildly uncomfortable, but seems fine
Emma reached out to me via WhatsApp, and the whole encounter felt like spam.
The conversation felt very aggressive from her side to begin with and when I questioned how she had been able to get my phone number I did not receive a decent response except ‘Our company affiliate with job site companies like Linkedin, Indeed and Google search engine etc, in this regards we are able to have access to few mobile contacts daily for our open job offers’ which to me doesn’t make that much sense.
I told Emma that I was not interested in a role and got the following response ‘Sorry to bother you, I hope you can achieve more results in your field of work,
But I think it may be suitable for you. It can bring you additional income under the premise of reasonable compliance with the law, help you reduce the pressure on your monthly bills, and will not take up most of your time. You only need 30 minutes to 1 hour a day to earn 150- 450 pounds, if you are interested, please let me know, thank you.’ which very much felt like a cut and paste response.
I asked her to take my number off of their company services which she has agreed to, which was nice of her.
Pushy exchange that felt like spam
Mariana texted me to discuss some roles, which I was open to hearing about as she said they were flexible around my current situation. However, upon asking if we could move the communication to email and off my private phone, she became pushy and insisted that we communicate over text, and ultimately never followed up on email. Her grammar was poor and honestly the exchange felt like spam. I'm terribly confused by this recruitment strategy
Spam text messages
I keep receiving spam messages from Florence from Gravitas Recruitment Group looking to recruit remote workers. I have never given my contact details to this company and therefore suspect my contact details were obtained by illegitimate means.
HE Sector Recruitment
I have been working with Yaf, Kevin and Ellie over recent months both as a candidate looking for a role as well as recruiting for contract roles on my team. Gravitas have provided a professional and efficient service with all interactions so far and would recommend their recruitment services in the HE Sector.
Great Recruiters!
Easy, honest, communicative and transparent - highly recommend!
