Paid for Auschwitz and the salt mines
Paid for Auschwitz and the salt mines. There was no available English tours for hours at Auschwitz, and no guarantee I’d get on one. So did a tour in a language I didn’t understand (other travellers too had this experience). Then I was told that they didn’t have enough people on the salt mine tour, so I missed out on the salt mines. Office in town wouldn’t refund my money, had to go through the external booking agency to finally get some refund. Try a different tour agency, no NOT USE Gr8way.
Scam style booking
Scam style booking, booked 1010am, but time changed the night before to 0520. Others booked 1200 because they got in at 2am and had the time changed to 0520. Other reviews say the same. We booked a hotel pickup too but was told to walk to a different spot the night before. When I argued the time and location we booked, they sent us a terms and conditions the said they could. Though the booking didnt make this obvious. Which is why it felt like a scam to get you to book. But you dont get what you book.
Guide was terrible, their english was hard to understand and very little engagement. We didnt even know who our guide was until we were already on the tour. We just followed the small group from the bus. The bus was freezing even though we asked to warm it up.
Should of booked with a different ccompany. Also after the day I couldnt review on Viator to warn others.
Awful experience and dreadful customer…
Awful experience and dreadful customer skills , with poor communication.
Booked salt mine tour (which was great) however that was probably because GR8way had not input with the actual tour.
Was not explained to us how long or indeed what time the driver was going to wait until, was not explained to us that there are in fact two separate exits from the mine which are 200 yards away from each other , was told driver contacted us and waited for 20 minutes.
I’m not sure if any part of GR8way have taken part in the salt mine tour, if they had they might realise that phone signal isn’t the best 135 metres below the ground. Regardless of this we were at the meeting point 8 minutes after we were informed that the driver would call us, which he never did, and when I called the driver he never answered .
GR8 ways response was just “get your own transport” which we did.
We paid 700 zloty, take my advice
BOOK SALT MINE TICKETS VIA SALT MINE WEBSITE.
GET UBER THERE AND BACK.
From the old town this will cost you approximately 350 zloty , and this is for 2 people .
DO NOT USE GR8way which is the travel tour shop near ST MARYS BASILICA
Great service on both arrival and…
Great service on both arrival and departure to and from airport both max and Peter were excellent drivers would use this service again
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! ❌❌❌
We booked the Auschwitz and Birkenau tour for 2rd January 2024 through Expedia TAAP- a reputable company. We assumed that this tour would be legitimate and safe- absolutely WAS NOT!
Like may others on here the company are a bunch of gutless scammers who will take your money, tell you you have a tour booked, confirm your timings and you believe it's all sorted!!
Until less than 12 hours before, not per their own policy, I received a what's app message explaining that our collection time had changed to 2am!! It was -10degrees and snowing heavily this evening.
We were picked up, even after I messaging the organizer explaining that this time was absurd and I wanted a refund- I was refused based on some small print in their terms explaining pick up times could change to earliest being 2am!
On arrival, we were made to sit and wait in a mini bus whilst the driver liased with other touts and tour guides to bag a queue space outside the perimeter museum fencing- I believe people were organizing the queues and gave out stickers to those tour companies who arrived first for a waiting holding space in this queue. The queue was outside the museum grounds beyond the metal fence. Whoever was leading this is an absolute disgrace!!
We were asked to join the queue and were 2nd with a green sticker and were told we had to wait outside in freezing temperatures until 7am when the gates opened! By now it was -10, no toilet facilities available, tour guides did not care if there were children or elderly in the queue, they were unaware of anyone with medical conditions who could not be outside etc and there was certainly not one person looking after our needs. We were absolutely freezing and could not feel our fingers or toes. No one cared if we needed the toilet, no one cared for us being cold the driver had driven off and left us in this queue. It is beyond belief and an absolute disgrace! I am so cross about it all and shocked this kind of treatment is allowed- I wouldn't even let an animal stay outside in these harsh winter conditions. We had to queue up for 4-5 hours in total in these cold conditions with no source of heat or warmth. This company should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of empathy and kindness. It was like we were really being immersed into Jewish life in a concentration camp. Disappointing to say the least!
The driver admitted to me he had not got our tickets and we would need to get them at 7am when the ticket office opened- so hence why you need to wait outside in a queue as it's first come, first served for tickets released daily for spare spaces on group tours. We did get a slot on an English tour but this wasn't until 9am. By then we had waited in the cold for 5 hours!
The money they took from us was insane compared to the ticket price so they made a huge amount of money- but no amount of money and clear their conscious!
The tour itself was lovely and very moving g. It this whole experience ruined my day. We were not given any food or drink you had to pay extra. I was told there was no cafe, you couldn't take a back pack in and we could pre order food for an extra cost. We took our own in a carrier bag and there WAS a restaurant. We were at Auschwitz for 12 hours and we were not even allowed a food or rest break. It's a good jobs we took our own drinks because we would have been without water for this long. Again appalling conditions and totally NOT acceptable. At the end of the day there was no time to visit the shop we were rushed to be back on the bus by being hassled via what's app to get back on and not even a sorry for the sheer lack of decency and care given even when the drive admitted he was wrong and we were scammed into the tour.
No apology, no care, all messages unanswered, numbers then blocked so no way of calling for a refund or to complain!! I am more annoyed that reputable tour providers like Viator, Expedia etc are still using these platforms- they clearly do not care either about their customers.
Be VERY careful - apparently only book tours via the museum itself months in advance. The museum only release tickets to reputable tour companies via their own website- all others are scammers making a few quid!! Be warned!!
Deported to Auschwitz...
I booked my Auschwitz tour months in advance, leaving at 10:00 AM with hotel pickup. A few hours before departure, the schedule was changed, no contact, no phone number, leaving at 2:00 AM (!!!) without pickup, and waiting outside Auschwitz from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM in -4°C (25°F) temperatures waiting for tickets while the driver was at a warm café drinking coffee. At least the other groups had a guide who would queue for them, take them to the bathroom or for a hot drink. We were stuck waiting for 6 hours, and the driver finally showed up at the very end. I'm a tourist on vacation; if I pay (and it's very expensive!) for a visit to a museum that's essentially free, I expect a service that can't even begin to match the one I received.
This a one company I would never trust…
This a one company I would never trust again. Tickets booked for Auschwitz, told we would be picked up at 0730, day before changed to 0700 and then 4 hrs later changed to 0220 pick up, There had been no tickets booked by this company. We were expected to stand in a line from 0300 till 0700 when it opened. No reply to emails. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS
A Big Cheater
This particular agency is completely unacceptable, it canceled our trip a few hours before without any other alternative, it is not reliable at all and should not be trusted!
Cancels without any true explanations and never answers the phone or messages
Anyone who books a trip with this agency should know that they will never go! They look more like a scammer than a professional
cancelled tour
We booked an auschwitz tour from him because there was hotel pick up at 10:00 am. The night before he emailed us and cancelled the tour because the transfer bus was "broken" and told us that we could wait until the next day to come and pick us up or take our money back. Unfortunately the next day we were getting back to our country so we asked for our money back and he told us 3 to 7 working days.
SCAMS clients...DO NOT USE
Basically this company SCAMS clients. Took £286 from my bank account for an Auschwitz and Salt mine tour. They changed pick up time from 7am to 4am ...Then DID NOT turn up !!
I have since read the reviews of similar guests. You will not get any money returned ....
DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS !
Disgraceful
Don’t book with this company- they don’t show up
As the flight was delayed I tried to get in contact with the office again and again but no one answered the phone. By incident they phoned me about my kids age- and I informed that the flight was approx 50 mins delayed. We waited in the airport - for 50 mins and they never turned up! I tried to phone 100 times again no one answers the phone. I now see all the bad ratings and should NEVER have booked and pre paid.
Total rip off!
Cost of trip for 2 people 700 PLN. Based on entry tickets been 143 PLN per person. The shared taxi cost of over 415 PLN in total. A private Uber ride each way would have cost less than 40 PLN. In essence, we therefore paid 335 PLD (£70) more to ‘share’ a taxi including a 30 min wait for the return journey. Our expectation was Gr8way were providing the guided tour. However, the start and end of Gr8way services were a taxi ride to the location!
Avoid GR8 Way for the Auschwitz Tour – misleading, disorganized, and not worth the price!
I had a very bad experience with this company. Their website says pickup is at 8:30 AM with the tour at Auschwitz starting around 10:00 AM with an English-speaking guide. That sounded perfect, but the reality was completely different.
The night before the tour, they sent a WhatsApp message saying there were “more people than tickets available” and that pickup would now be at 4:20 AM. Some other guests were picked up even earlier, around 3:00 AM! When we asked our hotel receptionist, he said this was normal for this company, and that during busier periods they even start pickups at 2:00 AM. If that’s how they usually operate, why don’t they say it clearly on their website?
We arrived at Auschwitz around 5:30 AM, only to wait in line until 7:30 AM in order to buy tickets. The first available English tour was at 11:30 AM, meaning we waited for hours doing nothing. When some people asked if they could join an earlier Polish-language tour instead, the driver said: “Fine, but then you’ll have to find your own way back.” When we objected, he just said: “I’m not in charge, talk to my supervisor.” Then, he called his supervisor and said "My boss says you can't take the earlier tours, everyone has to take the English one".
Apparently, if you book only a few days in advance, you’re expected to wait in line for hours because they don’t pre-purchase tickets. To skip lines, you’d need to buy tickets months ahead, but they never mention that when selling their tours.
In the end, this tour was just a very early pickup, long waiting times, and minimal organization all for €100 per person. You can easily do the same on your own: go early, wait in line, buy tickets, and take a bus or train from Krakow. You’ll save loads of money and avoid a frustrating experience.
My advice: avoid GR8 Way. Book your tickets directly with the museum and go independently.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We used Gr8way on our recent visit to Krakow.
Kept informed by WhatsApp at all times prior to arrival in Krakow and on our return travel back to the airport. Both or our drivers were on time. Our driver Karol N on our return journey was extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
EVIL EVIL GREEDY SCAMMERS
EVIL EVIL GREEDY SCAMMERS! DO NOT BUY!!!!! We, a family of four paid €360 only to discover this was an absolute scam. We booked to be picked up at 10am and less than 24 hours in advance they sent us a text on WhatsApp stating that our pick up time had been moved forward to 2am!!!! And not only that but the whole travelling, waiting and tour time would take 12 hours. It was sounding very suspicious, like why would it take 12 hours?? When the actual tour of the museum takes 90mins. We quickly figured we had been scammed after reading the reviews. Overall very upsetting and such a loss.
Unreliable Operator
Unreliable Operator – Last-Minute Change Made Attendance Impossible
We booked the Auschwitz-Birkenau Guided Tour with Transport and Hotel Pick-up from Krakow operated by GR8WAY, scheduled for 22 September 2025 at 10:10 AM.
Less than 24 hours before departure, GR8WAY sent a message changing the start time to 03:30 AM.
This was not only unrealistic but impossible for travellers relying on public transport from central Krakow.
The operator claimed the change was “forced” by the Auschwitz Memorial Museum, yet provided no proof and offered no reasonable alternative.
When contacted, GR8WAY refused responsibility and simply referred us back to Viator.
After reading other customer experiences, it appears that this is a recurring pattern — last-minute schedule changes, long delays, and deviations from what is advertised on Viator.
Such behaviour is unprofessional and misleading.
I strongly advise future travellers to avoid GR8WAY and choose a more reliable operator for this important and sensitive visit.
Threatened by the Driver.
Based on my experience I would not advise anyone to use this company, in particular be wary of a driver called Vlad. Vlad accused me of spilling water on the back seat of his vehicle purely because I had brought a bottle of water with me. I did not spill water anywhere, however that didn’t stop Vlad, a muscular looking Baltic guy in his 30s from threatening a 71 year old man. I do not expect to be threatened by the driver of the vehicle in which I am travelling and paying good money for a service, and I shall certainly register my complaints with the company involved.
Avoid at all costs
We booked an Auschwitz tour with this company because they promised hotel pickup at 10:10 am. The night before, they emailed us saying the time had been changed to 4:10 am and that we’d now have to make our own way to a central location. Really disappointing. Check the reviews online - I’d avoid them at all costs. I'd suggest booking directly and use public transportation at a fraction of the price.
Horrendous Experience – Zero Communication, Unethical Practices
I booked an Auschwitz tour through Viator, operated by GR8WAY, and it was a complete disaster from start to finish.
First of all, they assigned us a pickup time of 03:00 AM – which I had already explained in advance was impossible due to my husband's diabetic condition. We had agreed on a 10:00 AM pickup, yet this was blatantly ignored.
Worse still, GR8WAY never responded to any of my messages, before or after the booking. There was absolutely no communication, no flexibility, and no accountability. I was left chasing both the operator and Viator, and each one pointed fingers at the other.
After the experience, I read the Trustpilot reviews for GR8WAY and was horrified to see how consistent these complaints are – zero replies, terrible service, and countless stories like mine. It’s shocking that a platform like Viator continues to work with such an unreliable company.
I am now demanding a full refund for a service that was never delivered appropriately and will be escalating this issue further.
Avoid GR8WAY at all costs. If you’re booking something as important and sensitive as a visit to Auschwitz, do it through a reputable company that actually communicates and respects your needs.
Never turned up. Never explained. Never looked back.
This company did not pick us up from the hotel to go back to airport causing a great deal of stress and anxiety, inconveniencing hotel staff as they tried to help us. We attempted to contact Gr8way through landline, mobile and whatsapp, however they went completely dark on us. And have never contacted us since with an apology.
My first mistake was paying up front, meaning a company like this, with no integrity, would have no reason to bother turning up. My second mistake was not researching them beforehand, assuming that FindTransfers would only use reputable companies. However, Gr8way's score of 2.3 on Trustpilot is well deserved. There are plenty of other transfer companies and Ubers in Krakow, do yourself a favour and don't use this one. Consider yourself warned!
