ADMITTED FDCPA VIOLATIONS & RETALIATORY HARASSMENT OF DISABLED VETERAN
As a 100% Disabled Combat Veteran (OIF II) and former Law Enforcement Officer, I am publicly documenting GoodLeap’s failure to adhere to federal law. In a formal response to the CFPB (Ref: CFPB Case #260227-29394584 and #260214-28894399), GoodLeap admitted in writing that they ignored my global "Cease and Desist" order because of an internal "coding error" that split my identity across multiple files.
Under 15 U.S.C. § 1692c, a cease-communication request applies to the person, not an account number. GoodLeap’s admission of "clerical failure" is a strict liability violation of the FDCPA.
Most disturbingly, within hours of my initial public complaint (Google Maps review), GoodLeap attempted to bypass my no-call order by contacting my wife and co-signer, B. Williams, from a known VoIP "local-spoofing" number: 970-670-6650. Using a Colorado area code (where I previously served as a Detective) to target my family after a public review is textbook retaliatory harassment.
To all homeowners: Research the Minnesota AG lawsuit and the FTC Holder Rule (16 C.F.R. § 433). GoodLeap is legally responsible for the actions and deceptive fees of the installers they finance. I have initiated a Congressional Inquiry through Rep. Stephanie Bice and referred this matter to the Oklahoma Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit. If they are calling you from rotating numbers after you told them to stop, document the timestamp and file with the CFPB. They aren't just "unorganized"—they are non-compliant by design.
No Payments for a Year
Fantastic way to get done what you need on your home. we had to have a new garage door, but we could not afford it. Our garage door company financed our purchase and installation for 12 months free - no payments, mo interest through Goodleap.
GoodLeap financed my solar installation…
GoodLeap financed my solar installation for $79,286.65 through Expert Inc Solar, which has since permanently gone out of business. The Home Improvement Agreement contained a 25-year workmanship warranty and 10-year roof penetration warranty — both now completely void. The FTC Holder Rule (16 C.F.R. § 433.2) is written in bold capital letters in GoodLeap's own loan agreement making them legally responsible for the installer's failed obligations. I raised this federal law claim eight times in writing. GoodLeap ignored it every single time. What happened instead: they remotely disabled my solar panels without proper legal notice, made a false statement to the CFPB claiming they had no system access, continued calling me seven times from spoofed numbers after I formally revoked consent in writing, and suggested I file a homeowner's insurance claim for damage caused by their contractor's installation. I now have active complaints with the CFPB, FCC, FTC, Florida Attorney General, Florida OFR, California DFPI, and California AG. GoodLeap is collecting $133,947.90 from me over 25 years for a system with zero warranty protection while refusing to acknowledge a federal consumer protection law they put in their own contract. Florida homeowners — if your installer goes out of business GoodLeap will not help you.

Let me writeup with the disappointing experience with the GoodLeap. Their customer service has been VERY VERY POOR and overall customer satisfaction seems below average. We have followed up multiple times with the customer rep but difficult to get on a call. Especially after installation, communication has been very break. Out 6 panels are not generating any bough electricity and we are contracting out but no lunch. I tried multiple ways to ven reach directly to this cell#
But theygive me excuses and ask for more time instead of resolving issues. I expected much better support after installation.
Disabled Veteran's Home Purchase almost destroyed
My client, a disabled veteran, was in the process of buying his first home. His credit score on our report was 763. There was a solar loan with Goodleap on the home, and as part of the purchase contract, the balance was to be paid down from $25,000 to $10,000 by the seller - reducing the risk to Goodleap.
When my client applied to assume the smaller solar balance, whatever credit model Goodleap runs indicated only a 723 credit score, still a solid score, but not enough to meet their outrageous 750 credit score requirement. They declined his ability to assume the loan!
The stated lower score requirements indicated on their website at the time didn't seem to matter "those are from last year" we were advised by the customer service team when we called. Unreal.
I spent a long time on the phone with several managers at Goodleap, none of whom could help or stray beyond canned answers, and the assumptions team took 6 days to even respond to me when we sent a written request for help - still with no helpful answers.
Avoid Goodleap like the plague. I've been in finance for over 2 decades and the logic and service at this firm would never stand in the real world. I'm not sure what planet these guys are on.

Company has reached out severalties to ensure that the loan process is explained in detail. They seem to be on the ball. The loan process was simple and fast!
Assumption Rules unattainable
Absolutely horrific customer service in the assumption department. The people you get read from a script and they make the rules up so high they are unattainable to transfer or assume a loan. They want buyers to have a 750+ credit score with a 55%DTI ratio when I got the loan had less than that 5 years ago. They are now discriminating to new buyers. If a home buyer can qualify for a 300k home how can they not qualify for a less than 24k Loan for solar panels. Even a car dealer allows it for cars worth way less credit. Online states to obtain a loan for up to 45k credit requirements are 600-649. Goodleap needs to be more realistic.

Goodleap team
As I mentioned in my other reviews, the team at Goodleap (Cynthia and Maryam) were awesome! They were good communicators, acted in a timely manner and the whole process with them took less than 3 weeks! The title company experience though, was less than great.

I found the phone application very helpful, as well as the associates answering questions by phone when I had one. Just made first payment set up by autopay and that is very helpful as well!
