I would like to clarify several…

I would like to clarify several important points in response to Geneva Capital’s statement.

The “reduced payment plan” that was offered came with a condition that the equipment’s working condition had to be verified by their representative. Verifying equipment condition is typically the lessor’s responsibility, yet I was told that verification needed to be done under their terms. At the same time, legal documents were being prepared and delivery attempts were made, which made it appear that the intention was to move forward with litigation rather than resolution.
I did provide the full physical address of the equipment when requested. The statement that I refused to provide the location is not accurate. In fact, after the dispute escalated, I reached out again expressing my willingness to continue making payments and to cooperate with equipment inspection.
However, instead of working toward a mutually reasonable solution, repeated attempts were made to serve legal documents. I declined to accept service at that time because I was still actively trying to resolve the matter through communication.
My decision to leave this review is based on the difficulty in having constructive discussions. The communication style used by their representative was consistently demanding and threatening in tone, which made productive resolution challenging.
I remain open to resolving this matter in a fair and reasonable way.

This is the third public review regarding a matter that is currently in active legal proceedings. As previously stated, we are limited in what we can discuss publicly. Additionally, a few paragraphs online cannot accurately capture the full history of this commercial agreement or the documented steps that led to legal escalation, nor would it be productive to continue going back-and-forth.

Geneva Capital’s guidance to any business going through collections has always been to remain in consistent communication. Keep our team informed of the steps being taken to resolve the delinquency. Even when circumstances are difficult or when there's little movement, ongoing communication allows flexible solutions to remain available. When communication stops and/or mutually agreed upon terms are not fulfilled, legal review becomes the only remaining option.

We look forward to this matter being resolved professionally through the appropriate legal processes.

Absolute trash

Absolute trash - avoid at all costs

Geneva Capital - and, as far as my own experience goes, Connor Winkleman - are the worst kind of predatory lenders.

During the sales process everything went super smoothly and Connor made a number of very explicit promises about his ability to find a buyer for me if, "at any point", my CNC proved to be more than my business needed or could support.

The second the financing documents were signed, Connor - and his empty, worthless promises - disappeared on the wind. From that point he was rude, combative and unhelpful.

After I received the machine they sent me harassing emails every week to sign a document attesting that my machine was setup and installed - when it wasn't - and ignored my questions about why they needed such a document, which felt like it was - frankly - none of their business. Connor then used my refusal to fraudulently sign a document (that they had no business asking me to sign) as a basis for why he could no longer help me in all the ways he promised when his commission was on the line.

If you are pointed in Geneva's direction by Shopsabre or another manufacturer, RUN LIKE THE WIND. They are shady, dishonest and rude people.

Thank you for your feedback, Tom. While we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we feel it’s important to provide additional context that may be helpful to you and to others reading this review.

You originally reached out over 3 years ago in early 2022 to finance a CNC router. Our team spent several weeks working with you to review various lease structures, answer your questions about tax strategy, document processing, and buyout options, and to ensure the financing structure was clearly understood. You signed the finance agreement and authorized the manufacturer to build the machine to your specifications.

Several months later, just weeks before scheduled delivery, you contacted us stating that the machine felt like too much for your business. At that point, the manufacturer informed you of their 35% restocking fee - totaling $14,168 - which applies even if the machine is returned unused. Based on that information, you agreed that taking delivery of the equipment and exploring resale opportunities would likely be the most financially responsible option. We understand that things can change in a business, and this was consistent with how we’ve informally helped other customers in rare, similar circumstances. However, we made it explicitly clear that while we'd do our best to help, resale assistance was not guaranteed, nor part of the financing agreement. There were no “promises,” verbal or written, made by our staff regarding resale.

You also expressed concern about the “delivery and acceptance” form we requested post-shipment. This form is standard across the commercial equipment finance industry and serves to confirm that the equipment has been delivered in good order. This is a very important safeguard for all three parties (the vendor, the finance company, and you the buyer). Out of respect for your concerns, and to accommodate your hesitation around signing, we even modified the document’s language to indicate that the equipment had been delivered but not installed. This effort was intended to give you more flexibility given your desire to sell the brand new piece of equipment. The intention was never to apply pressure as you've indicated here.

Understanding your wish to sell the unused equipment, we continually reached out to better understand the situation from you. However, you did not respond to these inquiries and ultimately ignored us. Then, 2 years later you reached back out insisting we needed to help you sell the equipment. Despite claiming in your review that the equipment was never installed or used, there is substantial evidence to the contrary:

- You reached out to the manufacturer's support team on multiple occasions regarding machine setup and operation issues.

- You posted photos and videos of the CNC machine running in your shop on your publicly accessible Instagram account.

We understand that your business needs may have changed, and that this situation has been frustrating. However, our team made every effort to remain communicative, flexible, and respectful throughout the process - responding to emails promptly, modifying documents upon request, and going above standard lender expectations in an attempt to help.

While we respectfully disagree with your characterization of our team and our practices, we wish you the best and remain open to future dialogue.

We purchased large-format printing…

We purchased large-format printing equipment through Geneva Capital a few years back. The process was smooth, professional, and financially manageable thanks to their helpful team.

Then life happened—COVID, health setbacks, and ultimately, we had to close our business. We were in a tough financial situation and honestly feared the worst: aggressive collection tactics, legal threats, and pressure. Instead, what we received was support, fairness, and a real willingness to work with us.

Mike Tripp, in particular, was incredible throughout—open, responsive, and genuinely kind. We made every effort to stay in communication and uphold our side of the agreement, and in return, Geneva met us with understanding and flexibility.

If you're considering working with them, know this: they’ve been professional from day one, and even when things got tough, they treated us with humanity. If you’re struggling, don’t go silent, reach out, stay honest, and you’ll likely find the same support we did. Highly recommended.

They would not finance us with a cosigner that has over $1.5mil in assets & we offered to pay 1/2 down. Amazing that you can go get a car in 30 minutes, but this company makes it impossible for a startup business to get assistance for a small dollar amount.

Awesome Company

I have financed several pieces of machinery through Geneva Capital. Their entire team is just amazing!! The process is easy and professional. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive from the application through to the installation of machinery. If possible, they can give you options on down payment, payments, due dates, and tax implications. After using Geneva Capital for several years, no other company can compare. I value doing business with them and look forward to many years together.

Stay Away! Customer Service is Deplorable

Customer Service is deplorable. I put a large deposit down of $50k + and made on time payments thereafter for a year and a half straight. This summer my business took a huge hit and I was unable to make a payment. On 8/5/24 we spoke with Geneva and were transparent of the business situation. They suggested a payment plan for equal payments on 8/16/24, 8/23/24, 8/30/24. Fine, I told them that I have to speak with my business partner in this regard. We both agreed that it was the best option and notified them. This is where the issue started. We both had trips scheduled a year in advance from 8/8/24 - 8/16/24. When we got back we were going to make the payments on those dates. During our trip we received three emails from Deb Soine. (who was very respectful up to this point). One on 8/9/24 asking for a status, 8/15 stating that since she hasn't heard from us and if we didn't get a payment in by 4pm that day, she was going to turn the file over to legal and 8/16/24 stating that since we didn't contact her she is turning the file over to legal (mind you we are out of the country with little to no service). On Friday, 8/16/24, we received a legal demand letter from Mike Tripp. We got off the plane to a slew of harassing emails. As mentioned, the payment plan was to start on 8/16/24 in which we we planned to submit that day. Being that this was escalated, we did not submit the payment and decided to respond via email the following work day 8/19.

Mike Tripp responded that it doesnt sit lightly with him that i am taking vacations while being past due with creditors.

Very unprofessional! To even have the gall to infer that because we have business debt, we can't/shouldn't go on a family vacation is asinine. And I told him just that! I also asked him to be respectful and keep his personal opinions and rhetoric to himself.

Its none of their business, however, these trips were booked and paid a year in advance prior to our current business situation.

He then responds that he checked my credit profile and sees that we are paying every other creditor so he knows that I have the ability to pay and that prioritizing vacation over paying creditors is my choice.

Again, inviting his personal opinion and personal attacks

For him to check my personal credit profile and deduce that because of my personal credit profile, we have the ability to pay a business debt is fatuous, especially not even knowing our other business debts. Again, I told him these tactics or shenanigans that you continue to employ are unprofessional.

After this dialogue, I reached out to Ms. Deb Soine and left a voicemail, in which she called me back and stated that she knows that I have personal credit cards that I can use to pay this business debt. She also questioned why I would go on a vacation if I had bills. That was all I needed to hear. It could be a microcosm, but the sheer ignorance and imbecility of these two people speak volumes of the company.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.. unless you like being harassed, terrible customer service and a company that thinks your personal livelihood is dependent on the company.
