The process sucks you in with low prices, then when you have shared all your details, the price doubles.

The booking web site presents options and hire costs. You select a potential van, then you have to provide all of your personal information and, what felt like a begging letter to hire the van, all based on the initial price. When you receive a response the next day, suddenly the invoice is more than double the previous quotation. Goboony looks cheaper than the main campervan locations but it isn't!

Your reply does not address the excessive data collection prior to seeing the offer price. Equally does not address the fact that £400 for 5 days of hire seems excessive and overall your costs are above van hire through a conventional main hire company.

I'd like to clarify how our pricing works. The price displayed on our website is a 'from' price; it reflects the base hire cost before personal details are taken into account. The final price is influenced by a number of individual factors, including your personal details for insurance purposes, any add-ons you may select, and whether you opt for rental cover or not. These variables differ from person to person, which is why we're unable to display a single fixed price upfront.

Importantly, the full and final price is always clearly presented to you before you confirm your booking. Nothing is charged without your explicit agreement at that stage.

I hope this offers some clarity. Please know that we're continually looking for ways to improve our user experience, so this will be passed on to the appropriate team.

Good range of vans

The actual website was OK but the search came up with vans that were not available for my dates as well as available vans which was frustrating.
A number of requests were never replied to but two were very prompt and I was able to book a van for July.

Response time to booking enquiries were excellent

First enquiry to a hirer was disappointing as I had chosen to view vehicles that are pet friendly, when I enquired about making a booking the response was no pets, would it not be less time consuming just to state that and not “please enquire”.
Second enquiry to a different hirer was answered within an hour and my booking accepted, excellent response time.

No support when hire went wrong

I paid £1,105 directly to Goboony for a campervan hire that turned out to be not fit for purpose, forcing me to cancel the trip. Goboony told me to seek a refund directly from the van owner, despite my contract being with them.

The owner refunded £639, but Goboony kept £446 and then stopped responding to my emails. I was left out of pocket and without any meaningful customer support.

Very disappointing experience, be aware that if something goes wrong, you may be left to resolve it yourself.

To help clarify the situation, we’d like to explain how our process works:

Goboony acts as a platform to facilitate the booking, but the hire agreement is legally between the traveler and the vehicle owner.

When a booking is manually cancelled by a renter, the agreed-upon cancellation policy is automatically triggered. This often means that certain costs, such as service fees and insurance premiums, are non-refundable according to those terms.

If a vehicle is found to be 'not fit for purpose,' we always advise contacting our support team before manually cancelling the booking. This allows us to mediate immediately and work with the owner to find a solution that may prevent standard cancellation fees from being applied.

Once a cancellation is finalised by the renter, the terms of that agreement are unfortunately final. We regret that we weren’t able to provide the experience you expected on this occasion and wish you better journeys in the future.

Tried to book a last minute motorhome…

Tried to book a last minute motorhome from the Thursday to be leaving on the Sunday. So much stress waiting for the ID check to be approved. It didn’t happen (site says 24hrs) and we left 48hrs later (in the Tuesday) having hung around hoping to get hold of goboony in the Monday, but no response despite them saying they’ll get back to you within the hour. Tip: see if you can find the same motorhome advertised on another site. We did this for a second choice vehicle and it was cheaper and organised within minutes. Lost so much of my life (and the poor motorhome’s owner’s!) trying to organise this getaway, on this blooming site. Not for last minute bookings and have been warned by owners hard in general to get hold of, so don’t hold much faith in the support should anything happen on the road.
