Poor company
Poor company, Placed a order on line but needed some more help, Tried for 4 weeks calling ,emailing, and leaving messages but never got a reply, This was very concerning to me as if there was ever any issues with the bike then who would I contact?.I finally got a response after cancelling order but I am still waiting for a refund, again when I have chased this up no reply. I don't no how this company has so many good reviews, as customer service is awful.
My Gin X 500
I've had my Gin X 500 for 18 months now.
Initially I was told I had to wait 8 weeks for delivery.(got it after 9)
My bike is very important to me, as I ride 28 miles per day, 5 days a week and occasionally go out at weekends and probably do another 30 miles.
I get my bike serviced regularly (around every 3 months) and apart from having to replace brake pads i haven't really had any other problems. I've had 2 punctures but I expect that considering my mileage and the state of the roads and paths I use.
I've had to call them today to order a battery charger as I've had an accident with mine.
I'm assured that overheads will need in the post today so I should get it the day after tomorrow.
Their customer service are very helpful and know their stuff.
I would recommend them to anyone.
Helmet
Hi to all, this is part 2 of my first review. After I got my bike at home I decided to acquire a Helmet for my protection. I did mention this to Joseph at Gin and he said don't buy one as he has a fit all helmet that he will send me free of charge. I did accept his offer but as my head is a bit big, I thought well I have nothing to lose and will give it a go, not expecting it to fit. Well the helmet has arrived and lol and behold, just like there bikes, it is very stylish and a nice colour of silver and black, but the best shock of all was that they were right one size fits all. It actually does fit my head perfectly, so thank you again to Joseph at Gin e bikes. Now I am waiting for some nice weather whereby I can really enjoy my bike. Troy Curtis
Superb bike
It's a great bike. I have now done 4000 km on my bike and it still performs very well. I highly reccomend.
Best bike place in town
I love my new bike! The best service too! Thank you!!!!
Good service for a good machine.
The team either emailed me or phoned me to keep me updated with my purchase. It wasn't straightforward as I purchased the bike on the Cycle2work Scheme.
I then received the bike promptly. It was easy to assemble and came with a few extras a nice comfy saddle for example, lights and a bottle rack for free.
It's comfy to ride and is pretty solid without being to heavy. The range off my first rides gave about 45 miles. Which considering I'm heavy and it was freezing cold that's a lithium ion battery's worst nightmare isn't bad. During warmer months over 55 miles should be achieved.
All in all a good bike and experience from the people at GIN.
Outstanding experience
I ordered my gin bike in July 2025, had several emails keeping me updated on delivery. It arrived as per the information. There was a small issue with the bike . The chap video phoned me watched as I tested the bike and talked me through the simple fix.
All in all an outstanding experience in these generally poor customer service times.
The bike is now 800 mikes in and live everything about it. Thanks
gin X with crossbar ebike great quality great price
I bought the gin X with crossbar ebike a couple of months ago I went for the 6 to 8 week delivery option to get the added free extras which were a rack and pannier bags, alarm, crossbar bag, lock and cover at no extra cost (not included if you go for the 3 day delivery option)
It took me about 2 hours to unpack and assemble as most of it was already done .
I charged the battery for a few hours untill 100%
Having not ridden a bike for 4 years after a few outings I got used to handling it and I was surprised at the build quality for the price .
There are 5 settings of assist I've only used the first 3 and was surprised at the assistance it gives you makes going up hills a breeze !!!! Just remember to go down the settings when you go over the hill ...
The pedal assist kicks in in less than a quarter of a revolution which is great and if like me your a little older you can still use assist on lower speeds too if your getting tired
My first outings I did covered 24 km and the battery was still on 100% but I was only going about 10 to 15 km per hour along the river banks
I had a few questions about tyre pressure (40) and size of inertube which I emailed customer service about and got a prompt reply so good after sales too
One problem I did have was I took off all the wrapping off the rack and when attaching it I scratched the mudguard so attach it first take the wrapping off later !!!!
As I stated I've not had a bicycle for over 40 years and never an ebike but on the build quality, customer service after sales response I can say for the price I'm very impressed
I paid for a Gin x 750w crossbar e-bike…
I paid for a Gin x 750w crossbar e-bike I was sent a damaged packaged bike, I asked for an alternative and they refused to issue one or pay a refund without taking a 6.4% fee. It was a gift for my wife’s birthday and they ruined it. They have really bad customer service, they don’t answer the phone and I am now taking them to trading standards and have contacted my credit card. Please be aware and DON’T buy from them.

The support from this company has been truly excellent, I had an issue with a lock on a bike and now it has been resolved . Communication throughout has been great. I have bought two e-bikes and would strongly recommend them. An excellent company and I wish them all the best.
I bought my Ginebike 500W in February…
I bought my Ginebike 500W in February this year. I must say it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made. Life is so much easier now as I ride to work and back every day. Also the customer support team is second to none, they answer the phone which we find with other firms rarely happens. Thanks again to all at Ginebike team 😊
Gin E-bike a.k.a Pluto E-bike
I would steer far away from this company at all costs. They run both Gin E-bikes and Pluto E-bikes. Unfortunately I signed a contract with Pluto E-bikes before seeing all the negative reviews on Gin E-bikes. I had a hunch the two were linked and I was right, their conduct as a business is abysmal.
The rental contract is structured very much in Pluto’s favour. It is drafted to limit Pluto’s liability and maximise leverage over the renter.
Here are the key issues I found:
1. Deposit Handling – They take a £149 deposit but openly state it is not held in trust. That means they can use your money as their own funds and you’re relying entirely on them to give it back.
2. Termination Penalties – If you need to end your rental early, you are charged 100% of the remaining fees unless you’ve paid extra for their “flexible cancellation.” This is way beyond what’s fair and feels like a trap.
3. Excessive Theft Liability – If the bike is stolen and you don’t pay for extra cover, you owe £750. Even with theft cover, you still pay £390. This doesn’t reflect the real secondhand value of the bikes and feels like an inflated penalty.
4. Unilateral Power to Change Terms – They can change prices and conditions with just 14 days’ notice, while you remain locked into the agreement.
5. Broad Liability Waivers – The company tries to exclude almost all responsibility for problems, damages, or losses. Even if their negligence caused an issue, they try to push all liability onto the customer.
6. Aggressive Payment & Repossession Terms – If a payment fails, they can lock the bike remotely after just a few days, repossess it without a court order, and pass on debt collector/solicitor fees to you.
7. Maintenance Burden on Customer – You’re forced to attend servicing at their request, with added charges and penalties if you don’t comply. Even minor repairs under £25 are your responsibility.
⚠️ Overall: This is not a balanced or consumer-friendly agreement. It maximises Pluto’s protections and minimises yours.
Several parts of this agreement would likely be ruled “unfair” under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if challenged, especially the deposit handling, early termination penalties, theft charges, and Pluto’s right to change terms at will. If a clause is found unfair, it’s not legally binding.
If you go ahead with this company, know exactly what you’re signing up for — and be prepared for heavy fees, strict rules, and very little flexibility.
Edit: I’m glad you mentioned that. Yes I discussed the contract and Rahul did his best to try and stop me from getting the flexible cancellation add-on. I’m sure know they would’ve made my life hell if I didn’t. Unilateral Power to Change Terms.. Broad Liability Waivers.. this contract is a trap and there is nothing you can say to prove otherwise. Like I mentioned there are many things in there that are not legally binding because they do not adhere to Consumer Rights Act 2015. I’ve rented and purchased bikes over the past 6 years, I’ve never had a negative experience until now. It is unlike anything I’ve experienced. They don’t treat you like a customer, they will hold leverage over you in their best interest. In my experience, businesses that get positive reviews put the customers best interests first.
Also, it’s important for people to know which brands are run by the same company, looking at your reviews here on Ginebikes.. there is a constant trail of dishonesty and taking advantage of people. To the point where people are left with no choice but to go through their bank. This is often a last resort when businesses are not cooperating. You don’t have any trustpilot reviews for Plutoebikes, but it’s run by all the same people who have let down customers of Ginebikes. Your conduct across the two brands is the same.
Let’s mention more. I reached out to Pluto when I hit the lower threshold for required servicing (by them) to avoid incurring fees as per the contract. They are based in Reading, I’m in London. Promises were made of a Wembley servicing shop opening so I could attend regular servicing by Pluto. This never happened. They offered £40 (their cost to service one of their e-bikes) towards servicing, which they are contractually obligated to provide, and told me I could go to any local mechanic for a strictly mechanical service. The servicing I was able to arrange with a third part mechanic at a London bike shop on an e-bike for £40 was very minimal. Even if its just a mechanical service, expertise is needed to be able to carry out proper servicing. This is not satisfactory to ensure safety and upkeep of what is THEIR asset. The mechanic I was able to find that would offer servicing at that price had no experience with these bikes. This is the main reason I ended my contract early. Going into winter I needed a safe and reliable machine.

Experience with Gin E bikes
I have had my bike for several months and I am really pleased with it It's a comfortable ride and I really like the throttle It's really good value for money and I have found the customer service very good
GIN X Ebike review
The bike performs well and has been an enjoyable ride through urban streets and into the countryside. There were some initial issues with the bike's arrival. The sensor did not work and there was no easy solution to this. I ended up having to take the bike from London to Reading to get them to fix the problem. The website is also misleading as the bike took well over 4 months to arrive. Having said that it is working well now and I have enjoyed riding it.
A great ebike for the money
The GIN ebike is excellent value for money. In my case it came with a whole host of extras. I have had no trouble with the the technology of the bike so far, and for a person of my age (79), it makes cycling easy and a pleasure. Highly recommend to anyone considering getting an ebike.
Brilliant Folding Biu
I have recently bought two folding bikes from GinX for my partner and I. My bikes arrived on time, when they arrived they were very well packaged, they were very easy to construct with helpful easy to follow instructions. I was very pleased to find the bikes were made from brilliant quality materials. We have the bikes to have a very good battery range, with the power kicking in when you need it. We have an attached a dog trailer to one of the bikes, so our dog can also join us on our adventures!
As the bikes are folding they are brilliant for storage so if you have got a camper van , motorhome, canal boat or a car these folding bikes are ideal.
I have found communication from GinX to be superb , I have had many follow up emails from GinX support asking how I am getting on with the bikes.
I found GinX to be first class experience, keep up the good work.
5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍😃
Gin e bike
I am over the moon (and some steep hills) with my new GIN e bike, i am a keen cyclist and live in a beautiful valley which is surrounded by hills that I was starting to struggle when out cycling on my regular road bike so the decision came to invest and buy myself an electric bike to give me some assistance when needed (having done lots of research and reviews) and receiving my Gin e bike it has seen me out cycling and having fun. The features in its built in display are easy to use and the bike and its motor is smooth and what is more, it looks stylish. I would recommend this bike to anyone and the customer service and support received throughout the purchase process and after sales has been A1.
Gin e bike
After being a regular cyclist for a long time, it was with some trepidation that I bought a Gin e bike, I shouldn't have worried. The Gin e bike is great, the electric motor allows me to whiz up hills without all the effort of traditional cycling, the bike is comfortable, well engineered and has great features. The display feature in the handlebars is easy to read while moving and gives all the information you need. Though I've only had the bike for a few weeks, I recommend it.
