Easy to take out short term holiday insurance, had to add conditions later which the app wouldn’t let me do & had to phone to make the amendment, which was easy & the operator was friendly & helpful, can’t comment on the claims process, as fortunately I didn’t have to claim

MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT
I bought an annual travel insurance policy with Gigasure. The policy stated that in the event of cancellation I could claim up to £7,000. The recent escalation in the middle east conflict meant that due to flight disruption I had to cancel my trip. Gigasure have told me that the policy states that cover does not apply to claims arising from “war or hostilities, civil unrest or any similar event.” I have never received a detailed policy so was completely unaware of this. I am disappointed obviously and have requested that Gigasure send me policy details so I am aware of my cover for future trips.

You were made aware by messaging on the comparison site to review the documents, which were provided twice before purchasing. On this page with the policy wording and IPID, there is also a statement which asked you to tick to confirm that “I have read the important information and the insurers policy documents”. It is worth noting, that you cannot buy a policy unless you tick to agree that you had reviewed the policy documents we provided to you for review.
You are also provided with the documents immediately after purchase in an email which our records indicate you opened after receiving.

Thank you for your review and we're sorry you experienced issues with the payment verification. Our records show that the payment experienced a 3D Secure Authentication failure.
3D secure is an extra security check your bank carries out when you make a payment online (for example, entering a code sent to your phone or approving the payment in your banking app).
In this case, the authentication wasn't successfully completed, so your bank didn't approve the transaction. This can happen if the code wasn't entered correctly, the approval timed out, or the bank wasn't able to verify the payment.
We are happy to see that the second payment you attempted was authenticated and the policy issued. We will dig into this further and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
