They suck a little until you want to cancel. Then, they suck a lot.
We used Upper Hand for our fencing club for over 4 years. During that time it mostly worked OK. The biggest issues we had were:
- As a coach, checking people in for classes was more steps than it needed to be. It would also not warn you if you'd checked someone in more than once, so sometimes we accidentally took too many credits from someone's account
- Many members struggled to sign themselves up for private lessons and group classes. This process was really not intuitive so the whole time we were with them we had a video pinned to our social media pages explaining how to book yourself in without being double-charged for it.
In late 2024, they added a feature that would let customers request to cancel their account. We never got these emails because I'd disabled the "feature" where I got an email every time we ran a transaction. If you don't want 50-100 emails cluttering your inbox every month for every single transaction, membership renewal, etc, you are also unable to see customers requesting to cancel their membership. This led to some very unhappy customers and Upper Hand seemed totally unmoved by the fact that grouping those customer communications together was ridiculous.
Canceling this software has turned into a year-long nightmare. You have to give *six months* notice to cancel your contract. We happened to find this out a week before that date, so we asked to cancel. From that point forward, support was almost nonexistent. We never got a confirmation of the cancellation and they continued to charge us for two months past what should have been the end of the contract. We ended up having to do a chargeback on the final months.
We also just learned that they never notified their payment processor that we were moving away, so the payment processor is charging us fees for being out of PCI compliance on an account that hasn't run transactions since May.
This software was just-ok for the time we were using it; not super user friendly but workable. But my advice is to stay far away, because if you ever start using them it will cost you a fortune to stop.

When Shana ( UpperHand Plaster) first…scammers
When Shana ( UpperHand Plaster) first came to give me a quote at the beginning, he said £1300 including tearing off the wallpaper and he have a plumber on his team. But I’ve to pay another £100 to the plumber move the radiator to do all the work, it is too heavy for him to move alone, so it requires two people. This allows him to plaster the entire living room, dry the paint and then install the radiator back, I thought the price was reasonable at the time, but I explained that the work must be completed before I pay him and he agreed. But after he tore off the wallpaper, he told me that the plumber let him down him down, i had to let him continue as he tear off the wallpaper, after he done the plaster, he force me to paid him £700 first. Shana came back 5days later to print the wall only and force me to paid him another £600 again. He said he will be back to print the door, wood of four sides of the floor, filled the gap between. Hang back the wooden blind etc ; 15/11/24 he force me to paid another £600 and promised will come back to finish the job. But never return.

Easy to use
I liked the upper hand registration and ease of using it. The only thing was I previously signed up on another link and wasn't aware juggernaut had changed systems so I was a little confused and concerned.
