I had a fantastic experience with Doug. Passed my practical test first time. He was very friendly, professional and made me feel at ease and safe at all times during the course of my driving journey. Would recommend him 100 times over.

I passed my driving test first time with Amanda, without having any previous experience behind the wheel. Through out she made me feel comfortable which helped me to build my confidence. I couldn’t recommend her anymore to anyone looking for a driving instructor!!

I passed my test first time with Doug with 3 minors, I wouldn’t recommend a driving instructor enough! He made me feel so comfortable & helped me believe in myself. He is very professional and always gave clear explanations, just a genuine person who wants to help you pass!! My sister is now doing her lessons with Doug & she is really enjoying them😌

I had an excellent experience learning to drive with Simon. From the outset, Simon demonstrated a high level of professionalism, patience and pedagogical clarity. Concepts were explained methodically and in a way that was both accessible and logically structured, which made it easy to pick up and build confidence.

Each lesson was purposefully structured and tailored to address specific areas for improvement. Feedback was consistently constructive, precise and delivered in a calm, supportive manner. This approach not only strengthened my technical skills, but gave me the skills to drive for life. Simon isn’t instructing to just pass the test he is helping you drive safely for the future.

I passed the test first time and I attribute this mainly to Simon’s thoughtful instruction and high standards. I would highly recommend Simon to anyone seeking a rigorous, supportive and genuinely effective driving instructor.

My instructor Amanda, was very patient, professional, and supportive, which really helped build my confidence. Her clear explanations and calm approach made learning to drive much easier. I’m very grateful for all her guidance and would happily recommend Geoff Capes Driving School, especially Amanda, to anyone looking for a reliable and friendly instructor.

Ive just passed my test (first time!) with Doug, and I really feel like I hit the jackpot having him as my instructor.

I was quite a nervous learner but Doug made me feel very at ease, he was patient and always made me feel like I could do it even when I was doubting myself. His teaching style is very clear and encouraging, and his feedback always felt constructive instead of making me feel bad. I came away from every lesson feeling like I’d learnt so much - he’s very knowledgable and you can really tell he loves to help and really does want the best outcome for you.

He’s truly one of the nicest people you could wish to have teaching you, (I actually looked forward to & enjoyed my lessons), and I know I couldn’t have passed first time if it wasn’t for Doug!

I’d recommend Geoff Capes and in particular Doug Walsh to anyone.

I took my lessons with Doug and recently passed my test. I am diagnosed with autism and ADHD and Doug took this in his stride and adapted my lessons entirely to me. He is patient and understanding and I couldn’t have asked for someone better to teach me how to drive. We were able to have a laugh whilst on my lessons which put me at ease when I was having a more difficult day. Unfortunately Doug wasn’t able to take me on my test date but it was easily resolved when Jonny (another instructor with GC) was able to. Jonny was also very easy to gel with and motivating and I appreciate him for catering to my test day. I would recommend Doug and Geoff Capes 100%. Reasonably priced and my driving experience with them was definitely enjoyable.

I have just passed my test this morning at Bredbury test centre with 2 minor faults!
Doug was my instructor… I contacted Doug fairly last minute as my previous instructor had let me down & my test was approaching.
Doug took me on and I honestly learnt so much from him in a matter of weeks. We had 2 hour lessons each week & I always looked forward to the next lesson with him! He is so friendly and reassuring, whenever I made mistakes he made me learn from them rather than make me feel bad! I honestly don’t think 5 stars is enough to show my appreciation and thankfulness to Doug!!! P.S, I will certainly miss all of our holiday conversations

Great company- after having bad experiences with another driving school I was reluctant to use another. My ADI Doug was great, he understood I was a nervous driver and helped improve my confidence and made each lesson enjoyable . I passed 2nd time, could not recommend enough!

My lessons with Doug have been brilliant. I had lessons in college and I cried in ALL of them as my driver instructor made me feel bad for being anxious. I started again this year and was worried about having the same experience. I needn’t have worried as Doug was brilliant. Explained everything brilliantly, clearly and calmly. I felt so at ease learning with Doug and having just passed my test I cannot stop smiling. Doug has come to get me from work before when my train home was cancelled for a lesson! His explanations are clear and his feedback is specific and constructive, with marginal gains to improve each time. I felt at ease and now driving clears my head.

Absolutely could not recommend this driving school enough! So professional, polite and easy going. My ADI Doug is amazing! He made the whole experience of learning very enjoyable and fun. I passed 1st time with 2 minors.

I had been driving with my parents to prepare for my test for around 3 months. I then decided to book a single lesson to practice good test techniques.

I was connected with Doug, and after that first lesson I decided that I wanted to have more lessons with him.

He is extremely calm and knowledgeable and really helped prepare me for my test. Thanks to his excellent teaching methods I managed to pass with only 1 minor driving fault.

I would 100% recommend Geoff Capes driving school and especially Douglas Walsh!
