They used to be a lot better. ATM ate my card the day before Memorial Day. So I couldn’t get ahold of them for 2 days. The people atvcommerce branch were great and got me back into my card. Got my money back. Then my card stopped working. Random times it would say card is being held. I called Genisys only for them to say the card wasn’t on hold. I try to go use the card 20 minutes later and bam! CARD ON HOLD.

This credit union ruined my life and my credit score. We went through a horrific financial situation of losing our jobs back in 2022 and were unable to keep up with our credit card and line of credit payments. We talked to multiple people at Genisys that we were struggling and seeing what our options were and finally this "nice" teller told us we were eligible for a program that Genisys offered called "Fresh Start*. I was so excited as we had been in a hole for so long and at that time we still wanted to keep our account opened and be able to pay back what we couldn't. This was back in December of 2022, she told me our paperwork would be mailed out on 5-7 business days. I kept checking the mail and nothing as I figured it was close to Christmas and maybe delayed. By January I called to see the update as I told Genisys we never received the "Fresh Start Paperwork" no answer, so we went in person long and behold we were told by the branch manager that it was NEVER sent out as the teller "forgot". I started crying as this was a way to really get on our feet again. She said there was nothing they could do and we still owed the negative balance in our bank account EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY WERE AT FAULT AT NOT SENDING OUT THIS PROGRAM PAPERWORK!!! Well, with that I was really freaking done with them now. And not to mention their lovely $28 fee daily that were becoming even more unaffordable. They ended up suing us and sending us to their law firm. We paid IN FULL to this law firm last year and we have documentation proving the debt was satisfied through their legal representative. Finally 3 1/2 years later and three disputes with Equifax, they decide to update our credit information. I am so disgusted and disappointed at how they truly do not care about their customers, especially during financial hardships. I am SO beyond glad we left this horrible credit union and went on to a much better bank.

NO ACH transfers out
I wanted to do an ACH transfer out of a savings account and to another bank, and was told they will only do a wire transfer for $20 to get my money out. in other words , they are holding my money hostage for a ransom.

On Jan 18th my wife and I hit a very nasty pothole in downtown Detroit that yielded major suspension work on the vehicle. Needless to say we didn't have immediate resources to cover the cost. I reached out to Genisys for loan assistance and Alyssa McCoy called me back in a very short time. From that point everything went smooth fast and efficient. Alyssa was very professional and pleasant. She made me feel very comfortable and she walked me through the steps and made everything convenient for me to acquire the loan. I was even a bit hesitant due to some fiscal issues on my report but she helped ease that slight anxiety. It's great to deal with someone with her ware personality and calming energy especially when one is dealing with tough fiscal situations. She even came to the teller window to briefly connect with me when i picked up the check. Great Customer service! I hope to work with her again with any future financial matters.

This used to be TRUCK and COACH credit union. They decided to go big and I mean big. They built alot of new buildings to draw customers in. But in the process they cut every corner and got really heavy in the credit union lobby. The president JACKIE BUCHANON has upped the money the credit union pushes to the credit lobby 10 fold in her years running that clown show. She has dobe that to advance her own finances. Sicking for a credit union that was founded by our grandparents so they wouldn't have to screw with the banks. Another huge problem this old family credit union is having is they are not ADA COMPLIENT. Each branch only has a drive up ATM. There is no ATM accessible for someone to go to on a wheel chair. Their ATMS are the most difficult for PARKINSONS, ALDS, ESSENTIAL TREMORS and MS. they just do not accomadate those people. Plus I have seen how they treat special needs people. I suggest every Genisys Customer to ASK their branch how much we're putting in our crooked politicians campaign funds through JACKIE and her teams LOBBBY.

In the past 2 years I have never experienced such disrespectful uneducated unethical issues. In October they unlawfully closed my account the day before my pentiion was going to be direct deposited as it was for 10 years. I was giving the most irrelevant irrational reasons. I called the proper authority who regulates them and also investigated them. And suddenly they act like they did me a favor to reopen my account. Right before my social security was going to be direct deposited as it was for 17 years. Sadly this action has caused unrealistic unrepairable situations. And still left to on my own undo and fix the incompetent intolerable unethical conduct and closer of the account to regain my pentiion back into my account. Which I am amazing and truly appreciated and admire the outstanding helpful and assistance by fidelity mutual. I'm 71 with severe high blood pressure conditions.and underlying medical issues as well.
I'm glad they feel placing this stress and abuse unlawful Conduct. Like they did me a favor to once again clear and clean up their mess. I have filled lawful action with federal agencies that regulate and and monitor them also have a attorney who also seeks civil actions against them with in addition the American disability agency and many other. I will not respond to questions my attorney says not to and so do the multiple agencies involved

They should have asked for your maiden name or any other name you went by at the start of the application.
All of the sudden, my SSN was no good because I got married and legally changed my last name. I provided them a photo copy of SSN. “It looks like this wasn’t assigned to you at birth.”
Yes it was. Then they wanted my birth certificate or passport.
Again, they should have asked for all this documentation at the beginning of the application process. I will looking at other credit unions now. Because this has turned in to a charade.
Terrible Experience
BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE.
Think twice before opening any account with Genisys Credit Union. I opened a high-yield savings account several weeks ago and have regretted it ever since.
I deposited a large sum to qualify for a promotional CD offer—which disappeared the moment my account was opened. Then came the real headache: Genisys made it nearly impossible to access my own funds. Their website is useless, and even getting my new account number required a long wait on hold. When I finally reached someone, they refused to provide it, telling me I had to wait for a “welcome letter” via snail mail.
I needed my account number NOW in order to access my funds. They forced me to jump through more hoops just to retrieve basic account info. There was no digital workaround. Even after I linked Genisys to another bank, they blocked outbound transfers—effectively trapping my money.
These tactics aren’t just inconvenient—they’re deliberately restrictive. I’ve never experienced anything like this with Alliant, NASA FCU, Popular Direct, or NexBank. Genisys clearly prioritizes retention over transparency. Their policy of impeding access to my own money was time consuming and unnecessarily difficult. Customer service clearly isn’t a priority.
After finally closing my account and having my funds wired back, I received a phone call offering me the original CD deal that was no longer available. That’s rich. After all the aggravation and time wasted, I said absolutely not. Too little, too late.

For one the mobile app is not great
For one the mobile app is not great, difficult to navigate and to make payments from non genisys accounts, also for some reason a couple times a year they decide to loose your biometric login data forcing you to recover a password you haven't used in months and of course you can't validate your account without going in your folder and having your member id handy. Why can't I just answer my security questions? Seriously just check out bank of America's app and hit copy script and change the colors and logos guys it's not that hard.

Calling the Marysville office and leaving a message to have someone call back. We have left a couple messages and no one ever calls us back. It’s very frustrating. I know it can get busy but someone should return the phone call. This is a frequent occurrence here.

Genysis is claiming that I cancelled my…
Genysis is claiming that I cancelled my gap insurance policy when I NEVER did. They claim that they refunded me and then adjusted my monthly note to reflect it when my note has been the same monthly since I moved my loan from M.first to them!! They have no adjustment price on the first form but there’s one on the second but it reflects the amount I’ve ALWAYS been paying. I’ve asked them for weeks to give me proof that I signed away my gap and they said they didn’t have it.MULTIPLE agents told me that they didn’t have one for me. Other agents told me they didn’t see where I had cancelled ANYTHING, EVER!! Lo and behold this week after dealing with this since Nov 26th they came back a few days ago and said they don’t require a signature and then all of a sudden FRIDAY claim they FOUND the forms and they sent me over two forms that I’ve never seen IN MY ENTIRE LIFE for two different years claiming that I signed them when I for one FOR SURE WOULD HAVE NEVER SIGNED AWAY MY GAP and for two BOTH signatures are the exact same and I don’t have a signature! I sign my signature COMPLETELY different EVERY single time I sign ANYTHING! ALWAYS HAVE!! They are CROOKS and we will be going to court because I refuse to pay them A DIME for thier error of canceling my gap insurance and them being shady enough to create fake documents!!!! That’s SO LOW!! Just pay the remaining 3k and leave me alone because you will never get another DIME from me!! YOU ALL KNOW I NEVER E-SIGNED THAT!!
Non existent customer service.
This place is absolutely awful for car loans. They randomly raised my minimum payment without notifying me at all. I checked everything. I had my payment set on autopay and so I now have an overdue balance since it was raise slightly more than what I had my auto payment set at for zero reason. I’ve tried contacting them every day for two weeks now and have yet to speak to anyone nor have I receive an email back. This company is awful. How can I fix something if no one will speak with me?

This is the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with, I'm going to pay off the the car loan tomorrow, because I just can't deal with them anymore. They feel that they have the right to tell me when and what type of insurance I need. This a loan on my winter vehicle and I'm only allowed 6 months to have it in storage. Mind you it's not like I have zero insurance on it. I have fire and theft what more do I need it is parked in my garage for the summer.
They do not take electronic transfer of funds from Vibe Credit Union, and Vibe is not the only. So, I agree to stop payment on a check, per their direction, and give them access to pull my monthly payments, they then wave the late fee and all seems good. What was I thinking!!! They receive the check that was lost in the mail due to the holidays the same day or the next day and without missing a beat because they now have access to my account they withdrawal the amount of the check, the late fees, and bounced check fees.
There has been only one time I have been able to get on there website without error.
Please save yourself the frustration and do business with some other financial institution.

In February OR MARCH 2024 lost account
In February 2024, I used the ATM to transfer 500. from my checking acct. at Credit Union One to my savings account. After getting a receipt,which I know longer have, I waited a month or so to check my savings acct. and place 110. dollars into the account, in April checking my acct. again, there was nothing in the acct. I have since changed my savings acct. number, contacted and notified CUOne, I do understand I cannot trace this information or prove anything, I know I did not close the account. The acct was closed.
