Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 25 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the pricing, finding it excessively high for both parts and labor, often reporting that the cost was several times more than what they could find elsewhere for similar products or services. This led to a strong consensus that the products and services offered were overpriced. Some people were dissatisfied with the staff, describing some technicians as rude, aggressive, or unprofessional, and mentioning issues with unannounced arrivals or being hung up on when complaining. Conversely, some reviewers were happy with the staff, noting that some engineers were polite, helpful, and knowledgeable, diagnosing problems quickly and efficiently. The contact process was also a point of contention for some, with reports of unexpected charges for quotes or being pressured into immediate decisions.

EFFICIENT BUT VERY DEAR

Wudhus were very quick to respond and an engineer came the next day early in the morning (16-Apr-26). The engineer was polite and knowledgeable and diagnosed the problem on the garage door instantly - one of the springs had broken causing the door to jam halfway closed. He advised 2 new springs for the door explaining that changing one was not a good idea which I fully agreed with. I intended to ask for both to be done beforehand.

The office then called me before he started the repair with a quote for the work. I had no idea how much a job like this would cost. However the quote of £714 left me stunned as I thought maybe in the region of £200 perhaps an upper limit of £300! They came down on this quote for my mother being a pensioner (the house owner) to £642 which I, rather reluctantly, agreed to as he had replacement springs available and could do the job there and then. I thought OK very dear but the job would be done and dusted that morning. Further, seeing that my mother had recently had a fall, and been in hospital the day before, I was glad to have it out of the way. The engineer took only 50 minutes to complete the work and given that 1 hour travelling from Mansfield to Ollerton and back was involved the job took at most 2 hours. Afterwards I was left feeling numbed as I though the cost was way way excessive.

To sum up the engineer was courteous, efficient and got the garage door working. The old springs were removed also so my only gripe is the cost. Some research afterwards on the internet confirmed my initial suspicions that a job like this should cost within the region of £200-£350. I give 3 stars for the company's efficiency and remove 2 for the excessive charge! The engineer said there was a 3 year guarantee and to call if there were any problems. If not for the issue of my mother's well being I would have had the time to get several quotes and "possibly" a better price!

I will never use this company again

I will never use this company again. Their prices are extortionate. (GDF Garage Door Repairs - WUDHUS Ltd.)
On 17 4 26 they repaired my garage door. (broken suspension wire) The engineer was pleasant and helpful. The problem is pricing. The parts can be bought online for about £30 and the engineer was onn site for about 30 miuutes. After an "OAP discount" I was charged £382.50 plus VAT of £76.50. This is a Rip Off. I want to give zero stars but I suspect that the system will insist on one star at least.

Super prompt response with a sting in the tail

Super prompt response to my enquiry to inspect and repair a faulty locking mechanism on a basic up and over Henderson single garage door. The lock mechanism needed replacing and I was presented with a quote for £350 + VAT!!

I have subsequently done some research and have been able to source the part (new) online for £49 incl VAT. It isn't a difficult DIY job!

Nobody begrudges a business making a profit with a fair margin but let's be serious...............

Completely Overpriced!

Called this Company as both of our electric garage doors had stopped working. Engineer came out and we couldn’t fault him for the way he diagnosed the problem and his professionalism. The real problem came once he phoned the office for them to give us a quote for repairs! They quoted us nearly £3.5k for 2 x control panels and new photocell sensors and remotes. To say we were shocked was an understatement! The engineer phoned his office to check the price as he was sure they’d priced for new motors also which we did not need! But no, that was their price. They called back and we queried the cost, they agreed to discount to £2.5k if we gave the go ahead. We still refused and said we would get a 2nd opinion! Local garage door firm came out, agreed completely with the previous engineers diagnosis. This firm quoted £396! We now have our doors fixed for £3k less than Wudhus wanted. Please, please, get a 2 nd opinion before giving this firm the go ahead to do any work!

My garage door jammed open fri…

My garage door jammed open fri afternoon. We rang Wudhus ltd, they were very polite & i was told someone would be out that afternoon or Saturday morning. As you can walk straight into the house through the garage, we were desperate to get it fixed. The engineer came out Saturday morning , he was there 25 mins, replaced a cable & it cost me £482.40 .
I would avoid using this company. At even half that price it is still expensive. I do belief them knowing I was desperate added to the bill.

A year ago I called these people to fix my garage door. When he came, it literally took him 10 minutes to fix it and he charged me £475 which made me almost swallow my tongue!
I paid with a brand new debit card and he had a hand held “card reader” which he snatched my card from me and manually typed in all the numbers into, including the CVV number on the back which you’re not supposed to share with anyone.
This all made me feel extremely anxious and uncomfortable so I promptly said my goodbyes and went straight inside to cancel my card and order a new one.
A year on and I’m suddenly getting lots of messages from my bank saying that someone is trying to use that card to pay for various things like Amazon prime and other things.
I used Chat GPT to figure it all out and guess what?
Yeah… it came up with the same answer as me! Just saying!!

Horrific

Horrific - quoted £1150+vat to replace roller shutter when only two slats needed replacing, I got the parts of eBay for £12 and fitted myself. Charged £29 for a call out and felt like a high pressure sales tactic. Honestly steer clear if you respect your wallet! The joke is I could get a whole new door and motor fitted for less!!!

Rude and unprofessional.

Promised to come on the Monday, eventually arrived on Wednesday, left me with an unsecured garage for 48 hours. I explained I was at work and would pay once I got home. Phoned me 5 times in 5 minutes harassing me for payment, I told them I'd pay at 3pm (2 hours away) and they threatened to come take the installation out! Exceptionally rude and aggressive person on the phone, I could have been a vunerable pensioner. They are just like the hard sell window reps, avoid like the plague. My Wife said the fitter was a nice lad, not his fault but he needs to find another employer, and fast.

TOTAL RIP OFF

I was expecting a free, no obligation quote to replace my garage door. The representative arrive and measured the door which took all of 2 minutes. He then left and shortly after I received a call from the office presenting me with a quote which was outrageous. I was then told if I did go ahead they would knock off £29 for the call out. I disputed this as it wasn't a repair or service, it was purely for a quote which was not made clear of any related charge at the point of requesting a quote. I told the caller he had unfortunately talked himself out of a sale, the mood quickly deteriorated. I wouldn't pay a double glazing company for a quote, so this company under its many different guises (there are many) is a total con. AVOID at all cost.

Engineer was great

Engineer was great, identified the problem and resolved it with a replacement part. The problem being the price quoted was well in excess of the market price of the item. Too pricy by far, however would recommend the engineer

Ever been had !

As both my wife and had recently been scammed and lost a great deal of money, we didn't expect to pay £500 for two springs and no longer than half an hour spent on site ( our Bungalow) when you can purchase exactly the same type of spring online for approximately a average price of £70 each, totalling £140.
Therefore how can this company substantiate the £360 difference. Especially when I could if I'd known this well before there arrival at our address for anything between £90 &£130. The only thing in this companies favour was the man who did the work was very helpful.

Further to my first review,i received a phone call on Friday 3rd from a bad tempered male Representing HUDUS who would not except criticism of the company he represented, before hanging up,he said he would phone be back on Monday 6th,he didn't call,it just shows that senior management(customer care)are non existent.
To anyone needing repairs their to their garage door, check all the reviews before employing anyone to carry out the work,if i had done this I would have saved aot of money.

BEYOND AWFUL!! Rude and dirty 'technician' arrived unannounced, hardly spoke to the customer and spent most of his time on his mobile. Then advised us that we needed a new power supply as the one we had was shorting out.. the thing is, we don't have a 'power supply'! I complained to the company who hung up on me when I told them my address!! AVOID THIS UTTERLY APPALLING UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY!!!

We needed our garage door repairing so…

We needed our garage door repairing so contacted this company. They came out to give us a quote which was £600. As this was a lot of money we said we would have to think about it. They were very pushy and rude saying it was a “wasted journey” for them if we didn’t go ahead. The next day we contacted another company, they gave us a quote of £95 and have now repaired our garage — do not use this company. Clearly a scam charging over and above what could be considered reasonable.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. They over charge massively. Had a snapped cable “repaired” it then snapped a couple of days after and these guys completely blanked me. They also operate under multiple names such as Dawes Doors and Garage Doors Fixed. Avoid at all costs.

Scammers

I had a technician out to repair my single garage door cables. The engineer came out, said it would be £280 inc vat for replacement. I reluctantly said yes as I was at work and the door needed to be fixed asap. After checking online what the repair should/would generally cost it is usually £70 - £90. The cables can be bought for £20. After agreeing the work the repair took less than 15 mins!
My invoice just says “cables - £280”

No break down of costs to explain why the repair was so much. I have since been trying for the past 3 weeks to get a proper invoice but it s that is far too much to ask for. I have sent over 10 emails requesting this but it falls on deaf ears as the email contact is AI “Tina”

STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS.
