Great Customer Service

This is the second purchase I made with GameGear. My first pre-loaded microSD card I bought lasted me a bit but went corrupt when I tried to back it up and move it back and forth between my Raspberry Pi and PC. I reached out about my problem and they were willing to replace it at a discounted price to cover the costs of the new card and shipping, which was fair. Customer service was great.

Thank you for the review and for coming back for a second card — that means a lot.

I also want to be upfront: the card getting corrupted from moving it between the Pi and PC is actually a really common pitfall, and it's something we should do a better job of warning people about upfront. The Pi's ext4 partition isn't natively readable on Windows, and the back-and-forth can trip up the file system in ways that aren't always recoverable. That's on us to document better, not on you to figure out.

For your new card, a quick tip that'll save you from the same issue: if you ever want to back up your saves or ROMs, the safest way is to do it over the network instead of pulling the card out. Connect your Pi to WiFi, grab the IP from Main Menu > Network Settings, and then from your PC just type \192.168.x.x into File Explorer (username: root, password: linux). You can copy saves back and forth all day without ever touching the card.

Best customer service and product ever!

This guy is the most patient and amazing customer service person ever. I purchased the ultimate retro game mini pc with 30k games, the 4tb model, and I absolutely adore this thing. I play gamecube, n64, and super nintendo the most, and I can't tell you how happy I am with it. I admit that batocera is a bit tough to learn how to use and I really needed a lot of guidance the whole way through, but max was always so responsive when I had questions and literally cares about customers so much. He went above and beyond time and time again, and I absolutely couldn't be happier with my purchase! Absolutely consider that ultimate retro game mini pc, it is worth absolutely every penny and my entire childhood is in this thing. It makes me so happy to play timesplitters 2 and wario world again, and I've discovered so many new favorites! This thing is absolutely nuts and I LOVE IIIIIIT! Buy the ultimate retro gaming mini pc. I really do recommend the large hard drive one. I'm not just saying that. I've had it for months and just kept forgetting to write a review, but I adore this thing. I literally play it every day. This things is literally magical. And any time you can't get a game to run, ask Max. Gamecube games weren't running, and he told me to change the emulator to vulkan and lower the resolution a bit, and they all work. (And the resolution didn't even affect the picture anyway) I admit batocera (the software it runs on) is sometimes hard to learn if you're not computer smart like me, but he answered every question and made it so easy. Fast response times, too. Amazing guy and I would give him my business again and again and again!!!

When you say "my entire childhood is in this thing" — that's exactly why I built it. That's the whole point. Not the specs, not the game count, not the hardware. It's about sitting down, firing up Timesplitters 2 or Wario World, and being 12 years old again for a couple hours. The fact that you're playing it every day and still discovering new favorites months later — that tells me the 4TB was the right call for you.

And I'll be honest — I remember our back-and-forth about the GameCube Vulkan fix. That one is tricky because Batocera's default settings don't always play nice with GameCube out of the box, and most people would've just given up and assumed "those games don't work." You didn't. You asked, we figured it out together, and now they all run. That's the kind of thing that makes this work worth doing.

You nailed it when you said Batocera is "sometimes hard to learn if you're not computer smart" — it really is, and I know that's a barrier for a lot of people. That's exactly why I'm here. The whole idea is that you shouldn't need to be a Linux engineer to enjoy the games you grew up with. If I can bridge that gap with a couple of text messages, then I've done my job.

Like how it was fast getting my package

Great Product and Awesome Customer Service!

Fantastic customer support and a great product. I spoke with them prior to purchase and they were very quick to respond. I explained exactly what I wanted, and they customized a package just for me. I got the modded N64 with 4 bluetooth N64 OG controllers and the system is awesome and has every game from my childhood. Easy to use, works great!

In this day and age it's really hard to…

In this day and age it's really hard to find a company like this with great products and great customer service. I purchased an item and sadly it stopped working 8 months later. I figured it was a long shot, but I reached out to them to see if I was still under warranty. They said I was. After some basic troubleshooting didn't work i was provided a shipping label and they sent me a new item free of charge. Everything is working great. Buy with confidence here folks, they really do stand behind their products. Cannot recommend this company enough.

5 stars I think......

5 stars I think....... I've only owned it for maybe a couple months. My kids have played it and so have I. It's awesome.. .it has tons of games. I'd say all the best. I don't think you'd ever really play them all. Zelda Metroid mortal Kombat all the Mario's....shipping was quick too. Maybe 4 days.
