BEWARE OF IMPORT DUTIES IF BUYING IN THE UK
Beware that you if you are buying a GAIM system in the UK that you will be liable for a £109 import duty cost (or at least, that is what I have had to pay). The product ships from Sweden (this is not made very clear on the GAIM website when ordering) and as such you will have to pay UPS the duty fees before you can take delivery (again, not something that is made clear when buying and it mentions nothing about the cost).
I rang GAIM "customer service" to ask about this and I was met with a very arrogant and unhelpful man, who only seemed interested in mentioning Brexit. He was extremely condescending and dismissive of my query stating that "most of his UK customers were very aware of this situation"; however he knew what I was talking about immediately, so it's obviously not the first call he has had about it.
He was argumentative when I stated that, to all intents and purposes, it looks as though you are ordering from a UK website. Sadly, I didn't get his name, but I do hope for the sake of GAIM that he is not representative of their customer facing staff as he is doing them no favours. Not a great start to my relationship with this company, which is a shame as I have very much been looking forward to using their product.
