Beyond anything in Fitness

I tweaked my back in April of 2023 and a friend suggested I check out FP. I was also 3 years postpartum, and was a previous boot camp HIIT aficionado before pregnancy. I was sick of hopping around between different programs and box gyms.

FP is a quantum leap from what’s out there. The work is completely different than anything I’ve experienced, and now my movement is united. I realized that for 40+ years of my life my core and glutes did not know how to turn on!!! Now, my body parts are connected and properly activated. I had to relearn how to stand and walk, and all of my weaknesses were exposed. I’ll be doin FP for life, and can’t go back to anything else. What is published online doesn’t do justice on the power of this methodology.

Pain free & grateful to have found this system!

I came across Functional Patterns in my late 30's and at that time was struggling with knee pain, back pain, and shoulder pain. The results they showcased were pretty convincing so I thought I'd give it a shot. Little did I know this would change my life the way it did.

I'm in my mid-40s now and pain free! Once you’ve experienced this, you can't unsee it and won't want to train any other way. I'm actually excited for my 50s and beyond because of what I've learned. Such a progressive system! So grateful to Naudi & the FP team for empowering myself and others to take control of their health.

Pain Free

I was in chronic back and knee pain for years. I tried almost everything short of surgery. Physical therapy, acupuncture, cold therapy, massage, pain medication, muscle relaxers, yoga etc. None of these methods provided the relief I got from training with FP. Not only did my pain go away, I also learned how to see my body in a different light. I'm now better equipped to tackle my own dysfunctions. There's nothing like this out there. Truly one of a kind.

Former weightlifter of 15 years found pain free muscle gains and athleticism through FP

Prior to getting into FP I was a bodybuilder/weightlifter for 15 years (13 years old to 28 years old). By the time I was 28, I was in daily 8/10 pain in my hips, low back, mid back and shoulders, and could barely get up to walk around most days. I went to my local orthopedist and they told me a lumbar fusion and shoulder surgery were my only options. I waited because of my fear of going under the knife, and around 30 years old discovered Naudi Aguilar on youtube and his company Functional Patterns. I started the 10-week course and felt immediate relief in my pain by doing MFR and the corrective exercises. My profession has been a personal trainer since 18 so I moved to get certified through FP. I am now 6 years being certified and have been able to help clients achieve the same pain free, movement enhancing results that FP is known to replicate. Naudi and his staff at FP are the only people in the fitness industry that I would take advice from, they are knowledgeable in so many areas besides training and the FP system proves that a thousand fold. A lot of people who still adhere to weightlifting/powerlifting don’t like his calling out of their flawed methods of “no pain no gain” and normalizing pain with exercise, but it doesn’t have to be that way! FP proves that fitness doesn’t have to hurt, you can use it as a tool to become more athletic and resilient, and if you’re dealing with pain, there is a way besides surgery, and the endless cycle of physical therapy, lifting, injury, surgery, repeat. Thank you Naudi & staff at FP for all you’ve taught me and continuing to show people a better way to train, WITHOUT pain!!

Functional Patterns is the real deal

Functional Patterns has helped me get out of pain. My strength and mobility has improved 10-fold since starting FP. I have been solely training with FP for 8 years. I would never go back to traditional training. And it’s the one system that keeps innovating!

Pain free with Functional Patterns

In 2014, I purchased The Power of Posture, and it has profoundly changed my life for the better. Before discovering Functional Patterns, I couldn’t walk for more than 10 minutes without experiencing debilitating back pain. Now, I am completely pain-free and move better than I did in my 30s.

The 10-Week Online Program and the Functional Training System have also been essential tools in my recovery and continued progress. What I appreciate most about Functional Patterns is that the system is in constant evolution, always refining its approach. The results shared on their Instagram page are truly outstanding and inspiring.

If you’re looking for a sustainable, long-term solution to improve your body’s function, I cannot recommend Functional Patterns enough. It has been a life-changing experience for me.

Effective courses for all ages

Easy to follow at home courses, with a no nonsense and easy to understand approach to movement.
Eliminated my recurring back/neck issues which means I can be active more often.
My 10 year old daughter and 72 year old mum have also seen benefits from the Functional Patterns courses. I highly recommend it.

It's what I wish I would've learned in college..

I've been following them on social media and applying their content for about 5 years now. After college, I had spent about 10 years looking for a method that would help me correct significant asymmetries I had with my movement and posture. Their results indicated to me they know what they're talking about. Their introductory 10 week course turned out to be more helpful in understanding biomechanics and applying corrective and enhancement techniques than the education I received through my Exercise Science degree, so of course I was hooked after that. At 41 now, I feel more like when I did in my early 20s and in some ways I can't remember ever feeling better. The improvements in movement/posture have carried over to aspects like sleep quality, mental clarity, digestion, vision, speech, parasympathetic state, recovery, the list goes on....It's given me a very optimistic outlook in my life going forward, has helped me make up a lot of the time and money lost with college and other methods, and yet there's still much more for me to learn from them. I'm looking forward to more of their course and products as they become available. I'm seeing some complaints on here about their social media, but they also mention Functional Patterns works, so I think that justifies the opinions they share on social media. It can be a tough pill to swallow depending on one's current choices, but once people keep seeing progress it goes down easy.

I found FP a few years back when dealing with low back pain as I sit a lot at work. Not only it helped me with that, I also got better posture and more athletic.
10 week course is great and I'm doing FTS now.

Functional Patterns Experience

Functional Patterns 10 week online course followed by attending the Human Foundations course was absolutely life changing. Shoulder and knee surgery left me with chronic pain and several movement limitations. With FP, I have been able to overcome this and learn how to leverage my body much more efficiently.

Cult?

Extremely expensive program and your access to it expires. I had a long sickness after getting pregnant and went to restart the program to find it expired (that information wasn't readily available when purchasing) and the owners weren't interested in helping. It's not that the training I managed to do before illness was a bad program, but it's more the business model they pursue. Instead of making results speak for themselves they so much spend time completely bashing and ridiculing all other forms of movement/exercise/nutrition even though many other lifestyles are scientific and evidence based, and good for happiness and mental health (e.g. cycling and plant based eating for the environment/ethical reasons is ridiculed for example). As a critical care health care worker where more than half my patients are there because of lifestyle choices such as sedentary existence, low nutrient diet...I don't understand bashing every other healthy lifestyle option as a way to promote yourself. The program also encourages stopping all other activity for months and months. A good training program should be able to be integrated into a healthy lifestyle, be achievable, nd inclusive. The whole movement is giving "elitist cult".

100% recommend FP for everyone

Grew up extremely active in sports. After multiple car accidents I was left unable to work or be up right and mobile for more the 30min at a time without experiencing extreme pain & debilitating headaches. I was told by Dr’s and physiotherapists this was my new “normal”.
October 2018 I took a shot in the dark, what did I have to loose! Went in for an assessment with FP Kelowna, little did I know this was the first day of the solution!
Not only did working with my practitioner fix and reconnect with my body but helped with my mental health. When from maximum dosage of an SNRI to minimal dosage.
6 years later I have my life back. I’m back doing what I love and enjoying life.
The saying nothing good is easy or quick is extremely true. FP is not a quick fix or an easy fix but it’s also not just a bandaid fix. It will change your life forever.
Check out a practitioner, you will thank yourself!

Honest review and experience

Saw some of the negative reviews and I thought I should give a little more insight for people looking to get out of pain.

1. I started fp a few months after giving birth to my first baby. Through my time pregnant I suffered from some pretty intense si joint pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle pain, low back pain…etc all on my right side. For the first month I focused specifically on the myofascial rolling and after about 4 weeks I felt the biggest “pop” and relief in my leg and hip that I had felt in a few years! That being said, I found out I was pregnant again and stopped which in return brought the pain back. But I plan to incorporate fp back into my routine once I’m cleared by the doctor.
2. You pay for one year of access before having to renew. I knew this going in but when you break down the cost per month it was significantly less than what most fitness apps are charging so it didn’t bother me. I think the goal is for you to take it seriously and not just sit on your membership for a year and do nothing. Plus by the time the years up, if you’re consistent, you should have a pretty good grasp of the basics and be able to do them without the tutorials. Just my two cents there.
3. I’ve see a lot of the negative reviews revolve around the attitude of fp on social. Personally that doesn’t bother me but I could see how it could rub someone wrong. From a functional standpoint and talking to a few physical therapist about too much flexibility, I get where fp is coming from. I still do yoga, I still do Pilates, I still lift weights, but I do take some concepts from fp.

Basically, if you want some more understanding of your body and how it functions while improving posture and gaining more awareness of what your body is doing in space, I’d recommend it. If you’re looking for a quick fix for your pain, you should just go to physical therapy.

FP is more of a commitment and a lifestyle way of exercise so if you’re not into it then this is probably not for you :)

Helped me with chronic pain

Helped me get out of chronic pain when physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, massage therapy, and yoga didn’t work. Their program is easy to follow and you can save videos within the app to access easily later. You can also do it from home with minimal equipment.
