Worst app ever

Worst app ever! Freezes up, videos never start, power works, but you never move, says your connected even if the trainer isn't plugged in, app locked up multiple computers even after shutdown and restarts! Was told there was a area where you can join group rides call " drop-in rides " wasn't even an option on my download, never found this option.

Great video, crap application

Videos are generally excellent the application on the other hand......There are so many bugs that it's ridiculous. Freezes when starting, freezes during pairing (which is farcically slow), freezes during rides. So, it freezes just about anytime at any point when it's almost or is in use. I've tried this on multiple machines running Windows 11, using single and dual procs, 16 to 512 GB of RAM, etc. Nothing seems to change and it seems that the application isn't getting any better which means I won't be renewing at the end of my year.

It has potential, but feels like a beta test

I am new to indoor training, and trying all the available apps on the market with a Kickr Core.
I have tried FulGaz on a Windows laptop for the 14 days trial period. I can compare it to Zwift and Rouvy currently. I have very mixed feelings. I wouldn't say, that it is not worth a try, but it is not worth to pay for in this state.
The tried videos were quite good, stable. If you climb slow, it is not very fluent, as you can expect, but there are no strange artifacts, like in Rouvy.
Trainer connection is a bit slow on startup, but I had no problems with stability. Resistance control works quite okay, but data display is delayed to reality. Sometimes the sync of trainer resistance with the picture is not perfect.
The biggest problems are the annoying bugs. The software feels very unfinished thus it is not worth to pay for. There was an unfinishable ride. Other stage was just a black screen until I switched to 1080p. Today the picture froze for approx. 10 seconds anytime a new rider entered the stage.
I found the structured training part not very well organized. Its a bit basic, especially compared to Zwift. I have switched off the annoying trainer guy, but the I got no notification when the FTP test started after the warmup.
It is definitely off the list for future subscription in this state. I hope they'll work on it, as it has the potential to be a good app. In this state it should be much cheaper than the competition.

Terrible

Utterly terrible experience .First the 1 positive is the maps /video, great choices .The whole point of this is to enjoy it and you can't
It dosnt work properly with any of the data while connected to a trainer. EVERY HILL IT HAS YOU GOING UP AT 2 MPH .90 cadence on 5% I do 8/10 mph on every other app or on tge Road. I ride over 20 mph average no problem outside and inside FulGaz best I can do over 20 Miles is 11mph average .
It needs alit of work for it to be a viable option .As it Is its unusable

No longer works on Windows 10 pc

used to work on my Windows 10 pc, but no longer. If Bluetooth is on, it crashes at pairing screen. If Bluetooth is off, it freezes before the pairing screen. So completely useless. Have uninstalled/ reinstalled, etc. but doesn't fix the problem

Video quality is great, but poor windows support

Video quality is great, but the software usabilty, especially on windows, is a nightmare. The buttons are very small and only clickable if you hover them at the borders, the icons themselves are not clickable. Further more it's an absolute pain to end the app, there is no menu bar available and also no "exit" button, because it was optimized for mobile devices (smartphones / tables) where you can always click on "back" which does not exist on windows. So you need to move your cursor several times to the upper right and hope, that the menu bar will finally show up, where you can click the "cross" to exit the program.

+ It was not working with ANT+, my device was continously disconnected or didn't show up at all, so I needed to switch to bluetooth, which was finally working then. I'm also using another software with the same ANT+ stick, these problems have never occured there, so I'm pretty convinced it's a problem of fulgaz.

+ Fulzgaz is claiming to "upload the ride data" but it's nowhere shown, it's only available on the local device, even on my android app the history is not available, which is total nonsense, if they are not storing it for the whole account on their servers, the statistic on rouvy are far far better (unfortunately the software crashed several times since the last update).

Conclusion: The software is pretty confusing overall, does not behave like you would expect, if you know other apps. Apart from the good video quality I can't recommend it, it's not worth the 11 euro / dollar per month, seems like a beta version.

----
One day later: Fulgaz is not recognizing my devices any more, can't do anything, uninstalled it. Switched back to rouvy and reduced the video quality as a temporary solution, until they figure out the performance issues

Great video but s/w is embarrassingly…

Great video but s/w is embarrassingly buggy.

This has amazing videos. I wanted it to work so much. I would even pay twice for the video quality and Zwift/Rouvy like application and reliability. (Zwift phone apps is such a smart idea). After spending 30 mins, it would work for that day and the next day it has some other bugs.

Resistance and other things are terrible. It feels that the software has a mind of its own. You can never predict how it would behave.

Just because the videos are outstanding, which I loved. I kept trying. Even purchased a new Apple TV, Tried on iPad, iPhone but nothing helped.

I guess, I will go back to Rouvy. Okay video quality but everything else work. Even the searching for a ride is easy.

FulGaz should be ashamed of their QA and s/w testing; maybe it does not exist. I will give it another try after one year!

Wanted to like it

Have been using Rouvy cycling on my powerful Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop with Windows 11 and latest Wahoo Kickr smart trainer and have been really enjoying it after the boredom of to few world's in Zwift. I have now tried the trial 14 day version of Fulgaz as I wanted to see if the video quality was better than Rouvy.
It all looked promising as the video quality is far superior with no artifacts, shuddering, or fish eye lense effects that occur with Rouvy. Unfortunately the promise did not transfer to reality as I spent ages playing with every video setting and associated settings as every ride I tried repeatedly paused or crashed before going any significant distance. Suspected it was my internet which is reasonably fast so tried downloading a ride video instead. That worked fine but it takes forever to download!!!
Will stay using Rouvy irrespective of the lesser video quality as you can ride immediately without having to download videos like with Fulgaz and using Ant+ connections have never had stalling or crashing issues with Rouvy.

Thoroughly enjoyed FulGaz for years!

I run FulGaz on my iPad connected directly to the TV via an HDMI cable and an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter. I use a Wahoo Kickr and connect to the iPad via Bluetooth. The physical setup works great. I used Zwift for a wile (great program), but ultimately preferred FulGaz for its actual videos.

I’ve been using FulGaz for about 6 years, with very few issues. I’ve ridden some of the recorded rides in real life, and am amazed at how similar they are. After showing friends and family the set-up, I’ve had a dozen people start using FulGaz with a similar setup. All have been very happy thus far!

FulGaz support has been excellent and they’ve always responded quickly and thoughtfully to my questions.

So, despite some of the shortcomings of ride searches and a few minor items, I highly recommend FulGaz.

Excellent video, poor software

Video quality is good, however software integration is very poor. Syncronization with the Turbotrainer Ergo mode is so unreal. From flat it goes 0.5%, 1~2% and suddenly it feels like I am climbing 12% mountain road. 2% in real life feels almost like flat, but with this app there is no gradual change of gradient, it comes suddenly booooom. Never had this kind of sudden change with any of app I have used before (sufferfest, zwift, bkool, etc etc several more) Would only recommend if you want just flat ride with nice vid.

It's a pity as I really liked video quality.
Oh and only seems to detect Bluetooth sensors, and sensor detection is really poor it cannot distinguish sensor types. Same sensor would appear on cadence/power/speed, HR sensor is also appearing on cadence/speed sensors lol

I wanted to like it

I tested drove it, but one week was all I could take.
The videos are fantastic, the trainer control is poor and buggy. On the pc version you have to pair your peripherals at the start of every session. You can not minimize to check or adjust other things, skip a song, change the channel, answer a call….
I really want to like this but alas I don’t.
If the app quality matched the video I be all in.

I tried FulGaz twice - it was AWFUL and it is AWFUL

I tried FulGaz twice. The first time was in summer of 2020. At that time, it was unbearably unstable under Windows and would crash 5 to 10 minutes into the ride, over and over again. I uninstalled it, but after I heard that they released a new, reportedly completely rewritten version, decided to give it another try. A tiny step forward is that it crashed only after I rode 20 km on one route, stopped it, and tried to load another route. The rest became even worse than it was. Even though the program requires very small fraction of power of the Windows computer on which it ran (10% CPU load, 10 to 20% GPU load), video sometimes runs smoothly but most of the time it is extremely jerky, as if frame rate was 3 to 5 fps. The program sends, as it seems, confusing or wrong information to the trainer via ANT+, sometimes all of a sudden resistance drops to nothing for a few seconds, sometimes resistance is out of sync with the video (you went over the crest, road on video is going down, but resistance is still high). It totally confused tilt function on my Kickr Bike, to the point that it stopped working and I was close to ask customer service for help with repair - luckily I figured out how to reset it (never happened before in two years!). Map on the screen has zoom buttons, but you have to keep on clicking continuously to zoom out (or it zooms back in instantly on its own). The button Map Size does not do anything. FulGaz managed to find a hire the worst programmers in the Universe, and created a total garbage of a program. The worst cycling application on the market - congratulations, FulGaz, this will be hard to beat! I erased it from my computer two hours after I installed it. I highly recommend - look elsewhere. Do not bother. FulGaz is hopeless.

FULGAZ FOR WINDOWS - POOR

In March of 2021 I trialled the Windows version of Fulgaz - full subscription just under £10 per month.
My experience was so bad that I did not subscribe.

1)The application contained so many bugs that I considered it to be unworkable.

2) I felt that the company was unjust in charging for a product which did not work.

FulGaz was originally built for IOS and works fine on IOS platforms BUT at the time it did not work on Windows.

3) I emailed Fulgaz but received no reassuring feedback. Fulgaz said my equipment was partly to blame. BUT my other apps work okay!

4) I left a review on the Microsoft store which is now no longer visible.

5) I can FIND NO USER FEEDBACK OR FORUM. Other cycling apps have a forum where users can highlight/discuss issues. It seems that FulGaz does not allow feedback!

Earlier feedback comments on the Microsoft Windows Store suggest that many others have had problems running the Windows version of Fulgaz.

Below is a summary of my email to Fulgaz and its reply.

MYEMAIL:
I have experimented with different scenarios and have discovered:

1 Frame by Frame advancement.

When on a ride (or at the start of a ride) when pedalling has stopped or not started the video advances one frame at a time every second. This occurs at any time in the video and also when all sensors have been disconnected from the PC.

This seem to be a software bug. This is a very clear effect and should not be in an app released to the market.

2) Lag

I have seen user comments on some forums about a lag in responsiveness of Fulgaz when using ANT+. I appreciate some lag in responsiveness might be expected. However, I have used several other reality video cycling apps and in comparison Fulgaz has much greater lag and in some ride scenarios exhibits what looks like a bug.

In some sections of a ride the lag is just perceptible in other sections it is very clear that there is a problem. I have tried to determine the scenarios under which this lag appears the following are my observations.

a) When the lag is apparent it seems to present after a period of extend effort. In these situations it takes some time for the resistance of the trainer to match the change in gradient. I have noticed this most when ascending an incline and upon reaching the top, where the road goes down hill there is a noticeable lag in the trainer resistance decreasing.

b) In another very obvious and unreal case I have noticed a lag in Fulgaz seemingly correctly setting the a) virtual bike speed, b) reported watts, and c) trainer resistance. Fulgaz clearly and obviously did not work correctly.

For example, up until the start of a climb Fulgaz seemed to control my trainer correctly and set the trainer resistance and reported a speed, watts and rpm consistent with the gradient. However, upon starting the climb the trainer resistance, reported watts and speed were not consistent with the gradient.

For example, on the 5-7% incline the virtual speed dropped to around 2mph with a reported power of around 100W, the rpm was around 60. I was not able to increase the effort (watts) (and thus the virtual speed) by a higher pedal rpm. This continued for some considerable time and I progressed up the hill at around 2mph with a rpm of circa 60 and a reported watts of circa 100. This is not consistent with reality nor is it consistent with my experiences of using other reality apps when riding up similar inclines.

This continued for some considerable distance/time (several minutes) until at some point something changed and Fulgaz suddenly reported a power, rpm and speed which was consistent with the effort I expected for the incline (both in reality and from my experience of other cycling apps). At this time the virtual bike speed climb to 5-7mph and the reported power climbed to 170-200 and the resistance on the pedals became consistent with what I would expect for a 5-7% gradient.

4) Video freezing/greying out.
I have noticed video freezing during the rides. When using video stored locally very occasionally (once/twice in a ride) the video hesitates for a fraction of a second. However, when riding a route on a USB2/3 external drive this has been much more noticeable and in extreme cases the video greys over for several seconds (minutes). In this respect Fulgaz is unique I have used other reality cycling apps with videos stored on the USB and never experienced video freezing .

REPLY: Klem Johnston (FulGaz) - The team are working to iron out these little gremlins in the coding.

SO FULGAZ UNDERSTOOD THAT IT HAD ISSUES BUT STILL REQUESTED PAYMENT AND HAS NOW REMOVED ALL FEEDBACK FROM USERS!
