The food is delicious but the service is horrendous. Repeatedly they take money without authorisation. I emailed on 7th April as despite the account saying it was closed, it was still making me skip weeks to avoid charges. They confirmed in writing that the account was closed. They said I cut delete the app and it was over. I even checked the app and it said the account was cancelled. So today, 28th April I get a notification to say they have taken 53. So they took money for food I didn't order from an account which was closed. Then they were useless on the chat. Repeatedly asking me for my email, which I sent and they said was incorrect repeatedly. The they said they'd cancel the food but have to check if I could have a refund. So by this point, I have paid for food I haven't ordered, and I won't even receive. They then said as a goodwill gesture they will refund. Goodwill!!!! You stole it. They then said they'd connect me before saying oh no you already have a complaint wait for a reply. But I don't have a complaint before today when they randomly took my money.

Such a shame, as the food is great, but the app and the delivery and the service is unbearable. Who knows whether I will get any food or a refund.

They had a £30 off your first order if you did the London marathon all you needed to do was input your bib number and time and this would be applied for two 2 days and at least 10 emails and WhatsApp messages getting automated and rebotic reply’s I had to give up. If they can’t even get there promotional offers working I don’t have any trust or faith in their food or service. I ended up feeling embarrassed continually emailing them

No complaints here, it’s incredibly easy and does exactly what it’s meant to do.

Taste: ⭐⭐⭐(3/5)
This is where it falls short.

I’ve tried other meal prep companies like Simmer, and honestly, those were borderline inedible. Frive isn’t anywhere near that bad, but it’s still inconsistent.

Out of the 5 meals I ordered:

1 was genuinely excellent (steak, potatoes, asparagus)
1 was solid (beef chimichurri)
The rest were disappointing

The issues were mainly around quality and texture:

Breakfast eggs tasted stale
Chicken pasta was overcooked and mushy
Vegetables were soft to the point of being unpleasant

Those two good meals are honestly carrying the overall score.

Final Verdict
If you’re comparing it to a standard meal deal, Frive is the better option for a healthier lunch, no question.

But when you compare it to home cooking or even a premium ready meal from Marks & Spencer, it’s hard to justify the price given the inconsistency in taste and quality.

Great fresh meals

I like the variety of meals, also the taste and the portions size. It really helps me with the busy work weeks, so now I have regular lunches at work that I could not manage in my own before.
Happy with the customer service too, they provide supportive and customer oriented solutions.

Room to grow from my side - a bit more sustainable packaging with less plastic although I understand it's complicated with cooked meals. Good luck!

Great company and really tasty and filling meals. Takes all the guesswork out of food prep.
I had one issue on one delivery with a broken sauce pot and Fritz dealt with it very efficiently on WhatsApp and issued a refund for the meal.

Frive actually tastes good, tastier than Summer for sure. The sauce coming in separate pots definitely helps.

I live alone and cooking for myself became time consuming and wasteful. Changing over to good quality meals I can simply heat in the microwave has been a game changer for me.

Customer service (Christine) has been nothing but amazing, she set me up for the week so me and my husband could focus on other things than food. The meals themselves are seriously tasty and even though we are focused on losing weight and calorie control, we are enjoying every bites. The delivery is on point and though we had some crushed meals on the second delivery - the customer service immediately refunded the damages.

I am really enjoying five it has saved me so much time it’s made sure that I’m getting all the nutrients that I need and all the protein that I need on a daily basis. I’ve toned up and slim down without even noticing the quality of the food is fantastic, particularly in comparison to previous meal companies. I have used the variety and the taste of the meals. It’s really delicious. I can’t imagine my life without them now!
