I specifically asked Freetrade in writing whether VUSA, EQQQ and VWRL could be bought fractionally inside a Junior ISA before transferring funds. Their team confirmed: “Yes, our Junior ISAs fully support fractional investing for ETFs, and VUSA, EQQQ, and VWRL are all available on our platform. You can absolutely set up a monthly recurring investment and automatically split it by your exact percentage allocation.”
Relying on that information, I sold investments I had set aside for my children in my Trading 212 pies, withdrew the proceeds, and opened/funded two Junior ISAs with Freetrade. After doing so, I discovered that UK/EU-listed ETFs such as VUSA, EQQQ and VWRL cannot actually be bought fractionally on Freetrade.
I have raised a formal complaint and will update this review once Freetrade provides its final response.

I recently opened an account with Freetrade. I transferred an existing ISA portfolio to them. I was very impressed on how efficiently they did this as I had lots of problems and delays from other providers. Well done Freetrade team. I hope you set up fractional trading.

It is a very good platform although with a few short comings.
The Good:
have both funds and equity/etfs
reasonable fixed fee for which you get commission free trades
The Bad:
only get interest on first £3000 of uninvested cash whereas other platforms give it on all uninvested cash
It does not give you a quote when purchasing stock, so you are not always sure at what price you will pay for the stock.
I also cant seem to figure out how to buy a specific number of uk shares. I can only put the amount i want to invest.

the app is good. the FX fees are a rip off though. would recommend trading 212 over this app, especially as they offer more fractional shares

Customer service is fast and friendly. Very helpful

Terrible!! Freetrade has no ability to produce a simple tax certificate (which you need for HMRC and your UK Tax return). Trading 212 is far better and fully equipped for the UK customer unlike Freetrade. Avoid!

Lovely platform and choice of ETFs. Easy to navigate the platform. Stocks & Shares ISA

Transferred ISA to Freetrade in Feb. Easy transfer process with good communication.
Full range of UCITS ETFs and tracker funds, which is all I need. Instant auto-refresh for market and limit orders. Super-fast execution. Like that fund orders show the time my order will be submitted, and I can cancel up to then.
Upgraded to Plus plan as I need to use same-day withdrawals for a few weeks, otherwise the free Basic plan is great.
Chat-based AI-led customer service is surprisingly good. Queries passed on to real people are also dealt with promptly and accurately.
Couple of suggestions:
- Live market prices for GBP UCITS ETFs
- Ability to sell funds by fixed amount rather than number of units

Have recently thought about switching providers and I came across freetrade mobile app.
It is a very good app and neatly designed.

Offers more products now and low cost FX fees and competitive monthly plans.
Free version suits my own needs just fine for now...

Transfer stuck for 8 weeks and counting. Raised complaint, makes no difference. If I'm ever lucky to see my money again, I'm running away from freetrade at the first opportunity.

Excellent service. Freetrade also offers share voting. I would absolutely recommend this service.

On day 1 (Monday) I was locked out of the App and so couldn't get access to my cash, SIPP or ISA for 4 days. After sending in 3 emails asking for some help (1 per day on Mon, Tues & Weds) this email arrives on Thurs evening:
Hi there,
Thank you for getting in touch with us!
Could you please confirm your full name, date of birth and national insurance number you signed up with (depending on your nationality, it may be your national ID) so I can look further into it for you?
I replied using the name of the support agent - they couldn't even be bothered to use my name. That screams 'poor customer service culture'.
Note: I'd already confirmed all the details in my previous email (except NI number to be fair).
Looking at some of the lengthy and detailed responses given to people on here, usually within 24 hrs, I can't help but think FT has got its priorities very wrong.
The true test of a company is not how well they perform when everything is going OK, it's how they respond when there's a problem - draw your own conclusions. You have been warned!
PS. I genuinely hope I don't get a swift reply on here - that will genuinely rub salt in the wounds!!

Solid app, great UI, great range of financial products available, low fees, the team actually adds new products in response to user feedback which is really encouraging. Support is good on paid tiers, bit slow on the free tier, but in the end you get what you (do or do not) pay for which is understandable.
A few specific feedback points to make the experience even better:
1) It would be a total game changer if I could see my accounts in other apps (banking apps and financial aggregators). My understanding is this would require Freetrade to make their API public, and perhaps encourage providers to build integrations on these rails. There are very few brokers that do this well at this point in the UK despite the Open Finance regulatory initiatives coming through, and it would be a real differentiator.
2) It would be helpful to have slightly more portfolio tools. The performance benchmark only supports FTSE All World as a comparison point, and only runs up to 3 months, which is a bit limiting at present but a step in the right direction for sure. The insights tool shows portfolio weights by security, but it would be great if it offered some look-through into the underlying securities for collective instruments. An auto-rebalancing option to target weights would also be great. These are offered already by some other commission-free brokers, so should be doable.
Otherwise, keep up the great work!
