Very unclear place far from airport

Very unclear place far from airport, unclear about pricing, it didn´t match the price I booked and also more fees that had not been communicated. 2 months after I recieved a mail stating I hade a speed ticket in Austria, just a moment after I collected the car. 45 EUR + their fee of 33EUR for so generously paying it. and then they pulled it from my creditcard. NO CHANCE OF ME checkging or complain. SCAM COMPANY DONT BOOK THEM

You’d do well to avoid this particular…

You’d do well to avoid this particular car rental company for several reasons.

First of all, although they state that the pickup is by appointment and I expected to meet them somewhere inside the airport, the actual meeting point they provide is very far from the airport and there is no pedestrian access. You’re forced to walk on the road with your luggage, which is both inconvenient and unsafe.

Secondly, they were extremely late in picking us up from the meeting point.

But the most important thing to be aware of is that the company’s entire fleet consists of cars with Hungarian license plates. This means they require you to pay extra for the motorway vignette and roadside assistance. I ended up paying around €30 extra for one week, even though I had already informed them that I had my own roadside coverage, and the 10-day vignette costs only €10.

Most other rental companies, which provide cars with Austrian license plates do not have such scummy charges.

Stay far away

Stay far away. As noted by others they are scaming renters - charged me exaggerated repair cost (with no proof of that cost) and also charged for a supposedly missing part although upon several inquiries they never even identified which part was missing. Staff at the location was very nice but couldn't do anything on corporate screw ups. I sent several emails over five months until they finally got back - customer service department is just a money collection department trying to scam customers ("we wish good luck for stopping the payment which went through almost half a year ago"). Go with an established international rental company rather than this dubious Hungarian one.

Smooth booking,

I had a slight issue when booking a car with FoxAuto through CarJet. This prompted me to check Trustpilot reviews after making the booking, where I saw some concerning reviews, particularly about damage scams.

Upon collecting the car, the staff informed me of existing damage to the rear bumper. I ensured I took a video recording of the damage before driving away. I also noticed a few additional minor scratches on the car, which i took a video of. I informed the staff of the scratches and took a clear video. The staff member photographed these scratches and assured me they would be noted on my booking.

When I returned the car a few days later, the staff inspected it and confirmed it was returned in the same condition as received. I ensured I was there during inspection and had the video handy in case there was any disputes, which there wasn't.

It must be noted that the staff were helpful and efficient, and my deposit was returned to my card the same day.

I have no complaints, aside from the minor scratches not initially recorded, some empty soda cans left in the car, and slight dirt on the trims.

The car was mechanically sound and pleasant to drive.

scam

**Beware - This Company is a Scam!**

I've rented cars for years without a single issue, but this company is an absolute nightmare. They blatantly **lied** and accused us of scratching their car when we have clear proof that we returned it in **perfect** condition. It’s obvious they’re running a shady operation, scamming honest customers with **bogus** damage claims. They clearly don’t care about integrity or customer service—just lining their pockets through deceit. If you want to avoid being **ripped off** and treated like a fool, stay far, far away from this company. They don't deserve your business!

Steer away!

Vienna: Fox charged us 600 euros for some microscopic «scratches» that we didn’t cause. The scratches were so small we couldn’t even prove them wrong from photos. This seems very much like a cynical business strategy from their side, and I’ve seen other posts here with exactly the same issue. They will find a microscopic «damage» and charge you astronomically. Stay away!

AVOID! Charged me €900 for "damages"

I was charged €900 for what they claimed were several small dents on the car upon return. Even in the photos they provided as evidence, it's clear this is dust stains left from rain. They took one month to respond to my complaints and dismissed it with saying that whilst the damage is not visible in the photos they used as evidence "they are there". Awful company. Avoid at all costs.

we used Fox Autorent at Vienna airport…

we used Fox Autorent at Vienna airport .we got to them through a third party. The office is outside the terminal, but after calling the employee he picked us up after 15 minutes.
The process of filling out the forms was efficient, adding more drivers was cheap.
They did not push to add supplementary insurances.
The presentation and return of the vehicles was quick and efficient.
We received two large, comfortable Kia station wagons.
The cheap price could have aroused suspicion, but the service and the quality of the vehicles was high.
Definitely recommended.

Beware of hidden extras

I booked a car through a third-party, but when I collected the car I was made to pay some extras which were not included and at a higher price than what offered on the Fox website (I was forced to purchase a highway sticker although I was not planning to use the highway, and paid 16€ for it for 1 day, while on their website they offer it for 4€).

Ver clear and efficient service by Foxautorent

I booked a car in Foxautorent through Rentalcars web site, just because the price was very convenient. However, it was more than the price. The deal at the Foxautorent office was very clear, easy and fast. We asked for returning the car at the airport instead of the city office, we were informed about the extra amount to pay, but it was reasonable. We departed from Vienna, and cross the border to Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, and the cost for that was the informed at the web site, and we receive from the officers of Foxautorent the necessary information.
We booked initially for an Operl Astra, but we receive a Suzuki Vitara almost new (27000 km) that was in very good functioning conditions, we actually enjoyed 10 days with that car.
We drop off the car at the office which is close to the airport, not in the airport itself, but it was fast, easy and they then transfer you to the airport. We arrived to return the car at 8:00 and at 8:20 we were at the airport without problems.
Finally, when arrive at home in Argentina, I discovered that I forgot my GPS in a compartment of the car, I phoned to Foxautorent and they immediately recover my GPS and keep at the office to be picked up for a friend of us. They were very friendly and effective despite I phoned two days after returning the car.
Definitely, I'll use Foxautorent again if the cost is into the adequate range.

Fox Autorent in Vienna - Fraud, Scam, Terrible experience

I Hired the car from 5 to 17 of July 2022
I drove the car perfectly and carefuly.
No damage of any kind was done.
When I returned the car one of the workers checked the car and "found" a "scractch of the wheel". I looked and saw nothing. I called another worker to understand if they are kidding with me. he confirmed his partner. I called the owner of the company in vienna and I then understood everything. He talked like a professional fraud scam person. He did not even asked the see the photo. I insisted, then he said ok but never got back while I almost miss my flight. The young workers had shame in their eyes. They said that the owner will charge them if they will not charge me. Later they said that they are not sure there will be a charge because they need to do a double check later. no worries, when I landed in my country I already got the well organized scam paper and charge of 258Euro. Just imagine. For nothing.
This "Scractch on the wheel" will cost many many customers in the next months hunders of hundreds of Euros. The most expensive wheel in the world. Lower price at the rental (It's a bait) but highst rent at the end. in addition, it took an hour till they come to pick me to their location. It was a very very bad and humilating ending experince for our great journey. People that look you in the eyes and all understand that you are being cheated. for your health - STAY AWAY!

Worst company that I have ever had

Worst company that I have ever had. My flight was delayed and nobody was waiting for me, even didn’t answer my calls. So I had to take a taxi and come back the day later. When I turn the car back they “found” a scratch that no one can see and definitely was there before! All in order to take my deposit. Stay away!

HORROR Experience

HORROR Experience

If you want to have nightmares, lose your money and to miss your holiday, rent from Fox Auto. I have rented a Toyota Corolla from the 15 to 18 of January this year at the Budapest airport, and looking at just the small price that the company have. I have arrived in Budapest at the airport and I have called as it was written on the voucher approximately 10 times in about one hour. Nobody responded to that number, than I called booking.com, renting the car through them. Not even Booking.com could find them and get a hold of them. Somebody else called to a different number and the office from Budapest center answered. I told them I was at the airport and waiting for them to pick me up, but they insisted the airport was big and to go to another parking and stay there. I had to ask several people where that was. Other rental companies wait for you in the exit lobby with a sign of your name.

When I have arrived at their “office”, on a small street in Veces, the person there tried to sell me highway toll for Hungary, even if this was included in the price of the car.

I told him that I was dropping the car at 4 am. After that he told me when I come back and leave the car to put the keys in the post box and to take the bus to the airport, this bus station was a few hundred meters away. I did not agree with that, so he told me that somebody will wait for me and give me instructions a how to get at to the bus station and airport, however I was not given any phone number from that person. While I was at their office, he copied my card details by hand on a paper, I asked why, and he told me for him to know where to receive the warrant back.

When I wanted to drop the car, I introduced the street which I found on google of Fox Auto Rent, and when I have arrived at that Adresse, there was nobody there and everything was closed. And it wasn’t even the address where I picked the car. After looking, I called again from 3:58am at the phone number on the voucher, and I did that until 5:37, nobody answers, my flight check in already started.

Not finding anybody, I have left the car in the parking at hotel Ibis at the airport, and I tried to give the keys at the reception but they wouldn’t receive them. I than tried to leave them at the airport, but to no success. Having had no other option, I took the car key with me. After I arrived in Spain, I immediately sent them the keys with DHL urgent package which was 43 euros.

Now, they are saying that I have to pay for each day the car key gets to them. Even if all the problems were created by their incompetence and miscommunication. Be aware

UPDATE:On 21.01,2021 my complaint was answered! Below is their email, which shows that they don't care about customer:

Dear Customer,
We’ve read your first letter, but thank you for writing down your concerns again.
From the pictures you’ve sent it is clear that you did not call us properly once out of the 12 times. Initiating the call and then cancel it withing a couple of seconds is not calling, otherwise it would not be possible to call us 3 times within only one minute! We checked our phone, none of the calls came through that day, no wonder the collegaue did not pick it up. May I ask how did your son solve the problem? I’m guessing he let the phone ring until someone picked it up, and did not cancel it immidiately.
Our official address is Vecsés, Lőrinci u. 101, 2220 which is valid and if you look up Fox Autorent on the internet this is exactly the address you will find.
The map is the one that is not working properly (Google’s fault) but you had the correct address to find us and you failed to do so.
You took the key with you for which we are charging the price of two rental days, as this car has been out of the fleet for those days. We also charge the parking fee at the hotel you left the car.
You are free to write reviews wherever you like but it will not diminish the facts I mentioned above.
Have a nice day,

And her my answer to email:

You mean, like, I didn't have anything to do for 50 minutes and I called your company and then I canceled the call? Are you kidding me? And why did I call England on Booking.com back then and no one answered their call? The trick you do and do not answer, and it seems that the customer cancels the call, is a shame on your part!
In connection with my son, he simply solved it, looked for another rental office (somewhere in the center), and called where someone answered (who later picked me up from the airport) and took me to the office from Veces!

Great service.

Great service.

I used Fox Autorent at Vienna airport. The office is outside the terminal, but after calling the employee he picked me up in less than 10 minutes. Filling up the forms took just a couple of minutes and I was driving away in a new Suzuki Vitara. Despite the fuel policy being full to full, I got a half tank of gas and was asked to return in the same state. I would prefer if it was actually full to full as it's sometimes difficult to calculate how many liters you are missing.

Otherwise everything went smooth. I returned the car at the same spot. Employee checked for any damages and after signing the return form he drove me back to the airport.

Deposit of 900 EUR was unblocked within 3 business days.

I used this company mainly because they were the only ones accepting debit cards for deposit, but after this first experience I will definitely use them in the future regardless.

Some miscommunication, but overall experience was good ;)

Some miscommunication, but the core product was good ;)

I needed an intermediate car or a wagon for a week in Hungary (for moving around the country with a lot of luggage). It was in the middle of my holiday, so the place of pick up and drop off had to be in Budapest, I searched some deals on rentalcars.com, and one of the best was Opel Astra Sports Tourer by Foxautorent.com.

I booked the car for 7 days, payed for it (about 150 EUR or ~20 EUR per day with unlimited mileage). I haven't payed for the additional coverage, but i bought an excess coverage from Worldwideinsure.com (for 33 GBP or ~ 5 GBP per day) , which has extremely good reviews on Trustpilot :)

When I came to the rental office (on 26.03.2018), I found nobody there. There was a phone number, but I haven't bought a local SIM card yet, and they didn't answer my short messages, so I had to call them from my foreign SIM card in roaming (that was a pity).
After that manager tried to sell me a highway vignette for twice the price I could buy it at the petrol station :D
And finally a bit of a dissapointment was the fact that before booking I asked by email if a manager would be at the office on the date of drop off, because it was a national holiday, and they answered positively. But there was no one at the office unfortunately :DD

Besides the mentioned problems everything was ok.
I got quite a new Astra K Sports Tourer with 22000 km mileage, with 150HP 1.4 petrol engine and a manual transmition. It was more than enough for city use and highways with strict speed limits, and even a bit of fun on serpantine of the Bukk forest. On the pick off I compared scratches on the car with those mentioned in the chek-out form, asked a manager to add some unmentioned to the form and took a couple of photos. I used the car for a week, had a journey around Hungary without any accidents, been on serpentines and on some bumpy mountain roads, finally returned the car and left the keys in the box. After a couple of days I haven't received any claims from Foxautorent, called my bank and they unblocked my deposit (1100 EUR).

So overall experience is good, in spite of some problems with communication both with the support via email amd with a manager.

P.S. Sorry for my lame English
