Finally an airline that allows you to appreciate public transit

The "ultra low-cost budget airline" experiment turned into a $1,500 masterclass in how NOT to travel. The round-trip ticket was $950, but don’t worry, they made up for it. $300 for carry-ons. $80 to sit next to someone you love. The service fee, the bonus fee, the “what are you gonna do about it” fee. Somewhere in there, I think I also paid the emotional damage surcharge.

Welcome to Flair Airlines, where boarding comes with a sense of dread and a damaged suitcase. If your bag doesn’t fit the toddler-sized frame, that’s a you problem. Staff will politely threaten to leave you behind unless you sacrifice your luggage to the sizing gods.

Once onboard, treat yourself to an $8 coffee served with a splash of indifference. Enjoy the ambiance of shared misery and whispered war stories of regret from your fellow passengers. The in-flight entertainment? Staring blankly ahead wondering what WestJet or Air Canada could have been.

And if disaster strikes midair? Good luck. Parachutes sold separately. No cash, no canopy.

Flair Airlines: “We'll get you there... eventually, hopefully. Everything else is extra.”

Worst airline

If I could give this airline zero rating I would. Flying with Flair Airlines was a frustrating experience from start to finish. The customer service was shockingly poor, very rude staff at check-In. The experience feels more like a punishment than a flight. There’s a clear lack of professionalism and courtesy.

Be prepared for tons of extra fees. Baggage fees are sky-high, and if you don’t pre-pay, you’ll be hit with outrageous charges at the airport. Nothing is included, not even water. You’ll have to pay for every single thing, even the basics. It’s clear they try to nickel-and-dime you at every opportunity.

There’s no inflight entertainment, no charging ports, and the seats aren’t comfortable for anything more than a very short trip. It’s essentially a flying bus with worse service.

I understand budget airlines cut corners, but Flair goes beyond cutting costs, they cut care and customer respect too. I won’t be flying with them again, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re truly desperate for the cheapest possible fare and even then, the extra fees might cancel that out.

Be aware that baggage is not included…

Be aware that baggage is not included and you need to pay huge amount extra! Bought return ticket from Vancouver to Calgary via Momondo/Expedia. Got an email confirmation that baggage checked in was ok. It was on the first trip from Vancouver to Calgary, but when flying back with Flair, they claimed that baggage was not included in the price. So I needed to pay almost $100 extra per person For the return flight.

Worst airline experience in 20 years – outrageous baggage fees and incompetent staff

I have over 20 years of travel experience and have never once been charged separately for standard cabin baggage – until Flair Airlines.

I was charged a total of $184 CAD for two small carry-on bags, which is absolutely outrageous. This was not clearly communicated during booking and came as a surprise at the airport.

On top of that, the ground staff were completely unprofessional. One agent was unable to locate my name on my passport – despite it being clearly printed – and delayed the check-in process unnecessarily.

This was, without exaggeration, the most incompetent airline staff I’ve ever encountered.

Flair may look cheap at first, but once you factor in the hidden fees and stress, it’s simply not worth it. I will never fly with them again – and I strongly recommend others to avoid them as well.

Worst lowcost company.

Worst lowcost company.
I would like to complain about the service provided by Flair Airlines between Toronto and Guadalajara. The staff was very unpleasant, almost impolite. They did not respect the baggage allowances and we were charged for two bags that were compliant (40x20x25 cm).

Totally inflexible and rude and unprofessional staff

Went to check in and carry on luggage was slightly oversized as it had been expanded. Had to spend 30 minutes reorganising our whole luggage. Eventually we emptied my wife’s vanity case (half an inch too wide) and we dumped at the airport as opposed to paying $70 for it to be checked in. We have just completed over 15 flights in the last 3 months with various airlines and this is by far the worst one. First time with Flair but definitely the last.
I predict this company will not survive much longer with their business model. 1.2 star rating and let’s face the only reason it gets one star is because that is the minimum you can apply otherwise I suspect it would be closer to zero. Avoid these guys like the plague. I am currently sitting on the plane and I just hope the pilots are professional otherwise this flight could really turn out bad.

Worse airline

Title: Hidden Fees & Zero Accountability — Avoid at All Costs

Flair Airlines just charged me $100 at the gate for a checked bag I had already paid for. The issue? My bag was a snowboard bag, and apparently I was supposed to “click a separate button” to declare it as sports equipment—even though I already paid for checked baggage in advance and nothing clearly told me I needed to do that.

When I got to the counter, they refused to upgrade or refund me, even though I showed them proof I had already paid for a checked bag. I was forced to pay a second fee on the spot or risk missing my flight.

I contacted customer service. They told me “there’s nothing they can do.”

This company makes it intentionally unclear so they can hit you with surprise fees at the airport and then claim it’s your fault.

Never flying Flair again. Pay a little more and avoid the stress, bait-and-switch tactics, and customer service black hole.

Beware of Flair

Flair is a discount airline that I booked hoping to save money. Turns out they go to extraordinary lengths to charge extra fees. This is echoed plenty online. I booked through Expedia and on the day before departure I was not able to check in online and instructed to check in at the airport, which costs $25 (each way). The Flair rep told me there is an option “Online Check In” that you have to check when booking the flight or else you forego that option later and third parties don’t even have it. Not something one would expect or look for when booking. Slimy! Flair preflight emails had encouraged me to avoid the $25 check in fee by “get a digital boarding pass before arriving at the airport by buying your bags online” ($44 - $69) - but I had no bag to check. Even if I did, everyone still has to go to the airport desk to have their personal item checked and tagged for the little 6x13x17 inch limit. Then you are reminded in the boarding area that any item (purse, camera, water bottle, fanny pack, neck pillow, etc) is considered your free personal item and any other items will be charged as a carry-on (up to $109, lots of stories online). Cha-ching. Also not having paid for a seat selection ($16 - $54), I was assigned a random seat (“may not be with your fellow passengers”). Once settled in, the flight attendant came by checking seat belts before take off and asked to see my boarding pass. Mistakenly I had sat in the window seat and I had to move to the empty middle seat next to it and leave the window seat vacant. Incredulous! Why she checked is a mystery. Maybe they have a chart of empty seats. Then came the sales pitch repeatedly on the overhead. If you like, for a fee, you can change seats. I didn’t ask the cost of my empty window seat. Of course, the in flight snacks and beverages were all only available for a fee. Not even a free cup of water. If they could charge to use the lavatories, I have no doubts they would. Changes to your ticket, $125. Fix a misspelling, that’ll cost you. Hence my first and last time flying Flair Airlines. Not worth it. Not to mention the flight departed an hour late, the seats were worn out flat and no USB power source.

Traumatic Experience on Flair Air

I have flown on budget airlines: Easy Jet, Ryan Air, Wizz Air, Porter, Frontier. I could go on. This is the worst airline I have ever encountered. The gate staff are abusive and made one man cut his finger on the bag check then scoffed and laughed at him. There are disgustingly mean people working there. I will never fly Flair again even if it means paying 200$ more.

Title: The worst Airline to fly with

Title: Extremely Disappointed with Flair Airlines’ Customer Service and Luggage Claim Process

I’m writing this review out of deep frustration with how Flair Airlines handled my damaged luggage claim from my flight on December 19, 2024.

Upon arrival, I discovered that my luggage was damaged during transit. I followed Flair’s policy and submitted a damage report within the required timeframe — on the very day it was set to expire. I have proof of the submission and the exact date.

Despite my timely claim, Flair took over six months to finalize my claim and responded, only to deny my refund on the grounds that my submission was “late.” This is not only incorrect, but also unacceptable given the extensive follow-up I conducted over the last six months. I communicated with them multiple times during this period, hoping for resolution. Instead, I received vague responses, no accountability, and finally, a blanket refusal to replace or compensate for the damaged luggage — entirely dismissing the evidence I provided.

Flair’s customer service has been slow, dismissive, frustrating and, terrible to deal with. The lack of transparency and responsibility in handling my claim shows a complete disregard for passengers’ time, property, and trust.

If you’re considering flying with Flair to save a few dollars, know that you may be on your own if anything goes wrong — especially when it comes to baggage damage or claims. Please take this as a warning, it’s not worth it. I will not be flying with them again even if they are giving away free tickets.
This is totally unacceptable.

Flair Airlines. Save now. Pay later

Flying out of Toronto (yyz). Checking in for the flight was a disaster. We arrived 2 hours early for a domestic flight. Once in line, they had 2 agents policing the size of your bags. Once through that checkpoint, there were only 3 other agents available for customers who had checked in online and were just dropping off bags.
Eventually agents would call for passengers that had a flight that was close to boarding. 12 or more passengers would then pass through the line and start a new line in front of the agents desk. Processing each passenger took a long time, each agent would be on the phone seemingly for every check in. After another 30 minutes with little to no movement they would then call another flight that was soon to board. Another 10-15 passengers again lined up in front of us.
We finally gave up on following their instructions and just got into the 2nd line in front of one of the employees at the counter.
All in we spent over an hour in line to drop off one bag.
After paying for bags and wasting time with this ridiculous money grabbing process, pay more for another airline when booking the first time. Check their bag fees and add that onto of the original quote. We spent an extra $250 to check on bag, and bring one carry on both directions.

VOMIT ON THE SEAT

I recently took flair for a short flight and was absolutely disgusted with how unclean it was. I understand it is a budget airline but I still had paid $440 for my flight. There was actual VOMIT on the seat in front of me. They don’t care about a biohazard…. The gate made everyone shove their carryon into the measurement cubby that was covered in black dirt. My white back is ruined. Contacted flair for a refund and they told me they’d get back to me. It’s been a month and I’ve yet to receive a reply although I reached out three times. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Cheap airline Terrible customer service.

What went wrong is my experience with Flair. Had booked on 2 fights going one way at different times same day called and tried to cancel 1 flight. Too cheap to refund. Add bags day before paid, then charged again for same amount of bags. Terrible first experience with Flair, last experience dealing with Flair

Definitely the worst travel experience…

Definitely the worst travel experience I’ve ever had.
One of the most frustrating parts was the use of the baggage sizers (those metal frames where you’re supposed to fit your carry-on to check if it meets size requirements). In my case, my bags fully complied with the airline’s stated size and weight limits. However, when I tried to place them in the sizer, they didn’t slide in easily—and for that, I was charged an additional $100 fee, which I find completely unfair, if not outright theft.

What’s even more infuriating is that my bags were actually under the weight limit, yet that didn’t seem to matter. The airline enforces its policy solely based on how the luggage fits in those sizers, completely ignoring the fact that other requirements are being met.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this airline even to my worst enemy. It was an incredibly disappointing experience.

To make things worse, their customer service was terrible. Definitely a case of "you get what you pay for."

Money down the drain

I had a flight cancelled due to weather conditions. They re-booked me for a flight 2 days after the original one. So far so good. Then they cancelled this flight again, this time, for no explanable reason. They classified the reason for the cancellation as "cancelled under air company control". They tried to re-book me again for a flight after 4 days which was not acceptable for me. So I asked for refund, but even after several e-mails, it never happened.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCEThis service at the counter is…

This service at the counter is absolutely terrible. The staff are completely disconnected from reality. They are only interested in the money they can get from customers for anything. The fact that not having the full name and surname on the reservation generates a fine of 90 dollars, which I find abusive on their part. On the plane, not to mention there is no legroom. The chairs are tilted. The bathrooms are in average condition and they don't even give water to people. It's incredible that this is called an airline.
