Deceptive business practices

Deceptive business practices.
Sign up for a paid service only to find out your bank is not supported.
One of the many issues I have had while trying to use their service. Cannot in good faith recommend it because they are concerned with taking your money first and then they suggest they are unable to provide the advertised service. Kind of baffling a company offering some type of cash advance would expect to operate off of a paid subscription anyway but I digress. No option to leave feedback or exit survey, so I came to Trustpilot to voice my opinion.

Disappointing experience with Floatme

I had a very frustrating experience with Floatme. Despite never subscribing to their service or requesting any money, I started receiving emails saying I would be charged for a subscription. There was no clear explanation for this, and it feels like an attempt to charge me for something I never signed up for. I am currently looking into how to report this as fraud, as this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone.

Later edit:
More info about Floatme from Federal Trade Commission:

Order requires FloatMe to provide $3 million for refunds, clean up advertising, halt use of dark patterns to impede cancellation.

Absolutely zero stars

Absolutely zero stars. Why charge a membership fee if you never approve a new member a float?? The most ridiculous app I have ever downloaded in my life.

Utterly Useless and Clearly Dishonest

I find it fascinating (and suspicious) that EVERY positive review for this company was written within a 3 day period, most on the same day! Shows these folks aren't too smart.

I tried to sign up, then was notified that due to unusual activity on my account, they had permanently closed it and they would have no further dealings with anyone associated with the account (that's me.)

So they were of absolutely no help to me, but in reading the reviews here about the consistent constant billing, it looks like I dodged a bullet and am lucky!

There are so many reputable companies that will give you a small loan...stay away from this one!

Fraudulent Charges for Over 5 Years – Avoid at All Costs!

FloatMe has been charging me $3.99 every month for over 5 years for a $20 advance I took out years ago. Despite multiple requests to cancel, they continued to deduct money from my account without authorization. When I confronted them, they had the audacity to accuse ME of fraud.

Their customer service is useless, deflecting blame and providing no resolution. It’s clear from other reviews that this isn’t an isolated incident – it’s a pattern of fraudulent behavior. They are scamming people, plain and simple.

I am demanding a full refund of every cent they’ve taken from me. If you value your money, stay far away from FloatMe. This company is a joke, and they will steal from you.

Time to expose them for the crooks they are. FloatMe, you messed with the wrong person.

Feel free to tweak it further if needed, and let’s hope it helps expose their shady practices!

No No No.

No. No no no. You're broke and need $20. Float Me tells you they've got you covered until it's determined that you don't have $20 in your account...which is the reason you need Float Me. So, no $20 for you. Float Me charges $4 bucks- fine. One thinks that it'll be subtracted from your deposit along with the principle in a few days. No, Float Me want's it now or there won't be $20 for you.

It's dumb. Don't. Just don't.

Float me is a joke

This is the only app that not only lends you the cheapest amount you can possibly borrow which is $20 but it was the only app that didn't approve me for the $20. I've been approved for every cash advance app I've applied for from $50 to $250. I'm not complaining because I didn't get approved for the measly $20 I'm complaining because I just found out that they've been taking out $2.99 out of my account every month and it might be every two weeks. And they've been doing this for months I probably paid float me $20 already and monthly fees. I just went in and canceled my membership but it said it's still active until the end of March 2024 so they want to keep taking that $2.99 out of my account. But I am contacting my bank to make sure they can't take a penny from me again. Damn if I knew that someone could start a cash advance app/site and lend people $20 or $30 and charge $3 a month maybe that's something I should look into. There's much better cash advance apps like Cleo and empower. Also it's so obvious that the comments below with the five stars are people who work for float me their very small very brief just to increase the Stars which I think is totally pathetic

Bad customer service

Float Me made a withdrawal on my account on the wrong day which resulted in my bank account to overdraft. They won’t do anything about. I do not recommend.

Gig work is not real work? Smh

Support agent told me that gig work (doordash Uber etc) doesn't qualify as "real work". And doesn't qualify for an advance. What is real work? I get paid. That's work. Especially with how essential we were during the pandemic. We should be considered a real job by now. So that alone shows me how bogus this app is. A joke. Just another scam app that wants to lock you into a useless subscription service.
