Castle Hill Fitness First

I’m still a member at this gym (castle hill branch), but my whole family have witnessed how bad it’s become. Despite renovations the place is still dirty, the equipment is old and broken, and there’s no proper ventilation.

One of the female PTs her name Sogand Oskooei is Unprofessional — poor skills, rude attitude, and seems more interested in personal relationships with male members than actually training people. If you’re not part of that group, you get pushed out or treated badly. Every time I go, my family and I have to put up with the bullying and harassment from her and her group.

Other members have complained too, but management ignores it and keeps protecting her. This gym feels toxic, unsafe, and not worth the money.

This gym is honestly one of the worst I’ve been to. Dirty floors, broken lockers and no AC— it feels neglected and unsafe. One of the female pt Sogand Oskooei has more attitude than technique, with poor skills and zero professionalism. She’s rude to her own clients and to people around her, which makes the whole atmosphere toxic.

Come here if you enjoy eye rolls instead of guidance, bad vibes instead of motivation, and dust instead of equipment 🙃. Management ignores complaints, so don’t expect support if you speak up. Total waste of time.

I have been a member at Fitness First…

I have been a member at Fitness First Richmond for almost a year. The gym is clean, the equipment is new, and the staff are friendly, but my progress was slow. Recently my mate Jaz brought in his EZBack Pro pad and we started using it during our workouts.
I began using it to keep my posture steady. This is not a sales pitch.. it just helped me feel more stable and lift with better form. Within a few weeks I felt stronger and finally started to see real progress. Still the same great, clean environment, but now I’ve found something that clicked for me and I enjoy training here a lot more.

I used to love going but now ....

Gym Group Review: A Decade of Membership, Ruined by a Terrible Playlist

After over 10 years as a loyal member of The Gym Group, I’ve reached my breaking point—not because of the facilities or the staff, who are consistently superb, but because of the mind-numbing, soul-destroying playlist that plays on an endless, depressing loop across every branch.

Every single session is now accompanied by the same five tracks, repeated ad nauseam, sucking the motivation out of my workouts. What should be an energising environment feels more like a musical torture chamber, and it’s clear this is a cost-cutting decision from head office with no regard for member experience.

The staff do their best to keep this sinking ship afloat, but their hands are tied by poor management decisions. If you’re thinking of joining, look elsewhere—unless you enjoy having your will to live slowly drained by the same awful songs, day after day, with no escape.

Zero stars for head office. Five stars for the frontline staff who deserve better.

worst gym

worst gym, and I cancelled with over months notice and the gym still charged me after the 30 days.

I joined for a 3 month membership, didn't use for the last month and cancelled before the month end. When I called the gym said the process wasn't done until a week after I cancelled. meaning I paid extra. no one was helpful on the phone either, people who work here don't care to help.

I don’t recommend fitness First

I initially received an offer from Anytime Fitness, but Fitness First countered with a better price. After several phone discussions with their St Leonards location, they offered me $24.70 per week for what was supposed to be a one-year membership.

However, when I later reviewed the contract, I realised it was actually for 18 months. I called them to clarify, explaining it was meant to be a 12-month deal. They responded by saying that at that price, it had always been for 18 months. The salesperson even claimed, “I remember I said $24 is for 18 months, and we give 4 weeks free.”

When I asked about switching to a 12-month contract, they told me it wasn’t possible without paying a $295.00 cancellation fee.

The whole experience felt misleading and frustrating. They promised one thing during negotiations but delivered something else in writing — then made it costly and difficult to resolve. I wouldn’t recommend Fitness First based on this experience.

Cancellation process is terrible and staff are not very helpful at all 😡🇦🇺

The absolutely worse to deal with I was on the phone to them for the past 2 weeks trying to cancel my membership and finally got through to them the amount you pay for cancelling your gym membership is grossly outrageous especially during this cost of living crisis hopefully I don’t have any further issues down the track after reading some of the reviews when others tried to cancel their gym membership!

Bayside gym have had issues with lockers

Bayside gym have had issues with lockers in the change rooms and rather than fix them they are asking members to store their clothes in the common area. This means you need to collect your towel, shower and then go out to the common area to get you change of clothes. Not on.. it’s been at least 12 months and clearly is a low priority

Appalling customer service

To be honest, experience trying to cancel couldn’t be worse. Trying to get in touch with this team is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, impossible.
Have filled out numerous contact us forms (which are annoying in themselves as people have no evidence of their submission- this needs a massive rethink) and emailed multiple times and no response even though they have wrongfully continued to take payment from me even after my contract has finished (as confirmed by them it was ending 3 weeks ago). The time it takes for them to respond to anything is just a joke, no other company in the world takes that long to get back to a customer.
Gyms all need a massive refurb anyways no cold water it’s all lukewarm so go with plenty of your own fresh water, everything drips from aircon to pipes, just water dripping down and puddles all over in all of the ones I have visited. Not worth the hassle I have had trying to get them to stop taking payment when a contract has ended. Much better gyms about with methods to contact that aren’t like jumping through burning hoops if you have issues.

ABOLUTELY SHOCKING AND SCAMMING…

ABOLUTELY SHOCKING AND SCAMMING BEHAVIOR FROM FITNESS FIRST GERMANY. You better tell your peers to get back to me or I won't stop adding comments every day.

I am being charged bi-weekly and it's 5 MONTHS I am trying to cancel my membership and contacting them. I am being ghosted and now they told me I never accepted a moving option. How can I accept a moving option when I moved out of country? ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING HOW THIS COMPANY CAN BE EXISTING WITH SUCH A FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR.

A word of warning for anyone thinking…

A word of warning for anyone thinking about signing up. Please please please do not listen to what you are told by the front desk about how easy it will be to get out of your contract. Once you sign on the dotted line that is you committed! Make a note of any verbal assurances you are made. I was told to sign up, told to relax about the 12 month commitment as...all I would need to do is tell them I was moving house or office (I was told not to worry about whether I actually was).

I only needed the gym for 3 months (recovering from an ankle injury) - tried to cancel - all front of desk staff denied ever saying anything about getting out of my agreement. The result...9 months of membership I don't need (over £1,000).

I am sure there will be a fluffy response to this review from FF but the mass of negative reviews speak for themselves. 350 people....average of 1.9.

Please be careful

Contract

I made 2 contracts with Fitness First, one for me, one for my wife 3 years ago.
My wife couldn't use because she got pregnant twice in those 3 years. When i went to cancel her contract they said is too late, we have to cancel it 3 months before the expiring date, so i paid 1 more year, again, my wife never set foot in their gym, but they didn't care. Normaly i was expecting someone from commercial department to do something but no...
Today i receive a letter from Incasso that since i've failed to pay from october 2024(2 months) i have to pay in advance till december 2025.
I didn't pay because i changed my bank and they noticed Fitness First about that change, but now apparently i should notify them myself. So after 3 years, 2 contracts(1 that i never used), for a late payment of 2 months i have to pay in advance for a year...is there anyone who can guide me here?

I had a surgery around 15 days after I enrolled myself. So asked to cancel my membership or freeze. However police from the gym asked for my minimum period for freeze a membership is 30 days in advance however 30 days before I was not enrolled.

I sent many emails explaining the situation however the gym only thinks about money we are just a number and there is no one to talk to about this problem, and there is no telephone number from customer service. Even the gym doesn’t have access to the telephone number. Everything needs to be sent by email. And all the time someone new will replay the email and you can’t have a solution.

Very poor customer service

In October 2023, I enrolled my 15-year-old daughter in a month-to-month rollover membership at Fitness First Randwick. In July 2024, she decided to upgrade her membership to include Pilates, and Fitness First unilaterally enrolled her in a minimum six-month extension. However, she was unaware that her contract had been changed to an 18-month premium membership.

When we raised this issue with management, their response was dismissive, claiming the terms were outlined in the contract and signed by a guardian, as though this absolved them of responsibility.

It is deeply concerning and highly unethical to enrol a minor in an extended contract without providing clear, transparent explanations of the implications. Poor business practices like these come at the cost of losing loyal customers for the sake of a few months’ subscription fees.

Very disappointing, Fitness First....
