The experience I have with Google Fiber… below, it has the date of experience. I can’t put a particular date because it happens all the time
The experience I have with Google Fiber is like a horror story. It’s never working. it runs slow. And It is overpriced. It doesn’t support half of my devices like they said it would. It’s just horrible. And I was grandfather in with AT&T and I hate that I left them same price. I thought you guys was better. I’m gonna see if I can persuade them to let me back in under the grandfather deal that I had with them. Thanks for your convincing story to get me to get Google Fiber which I truly regret.
Within the span of July alone
Within the span of July alone, we had 7 outages. And never brief. Often several hours. So if you work from home be prepared to lose a lot of income. Every time I spoke to a representative they were extraordinarily rude. I’ve been given the comments “you can change companies any time.” “Why don’t you just use your pto during outages” and “why not just get a second internet service just in case.” I was told I would receive credits. And for those 7 outages I received a 70 cent credit on my next bill. I spoke to a manager with details and she (Alexis) told me she would get back with me with more details, I never heard back from her. And on top of the already frequent outages we received mail that stated in about a month there would be 3 months of work in the area and to expect more outages than usual.
Profit over fire safety
Reported that Google Fiber's equipment is overheating and my daughter's room smells like burning plastic. They say they can't send out a tech to relocate the jack. They made up three different reasons but the real reason is profit over customer safety.
Frequent outages - customer service not interested - left midcontract
I left Google Fiber Webpass mid-contract due to its increasingly unreliable service.
In the first year, the service was solid. But over time, the reliability deteriorated significantly. Once I began monitoring the connection, I found I was experiencing outages roughly every three days. Even brief outages add up when you rely on a stable connection.
I used NetUptimeMonitor to document the issues, and I have clear records of the repeated failures. While customer service acknowledged the outages, they were dismissive if the connection happened to be working when I called. They made no effort to investigate the frequent disruptions, and my attempts to escalate the issue were ignored.
If you need a dependable internet connection, I recommend looking elsewhere.
PLEASE, DO NOT SWITCH TO GOOGLE FIBER!
Google Fiber never stopped sending me snail-mail to switch from Wow! to them. I did, and as long as you do what they want you to do, your fine, but when I called to get help with a due date change, THEY COULDN'T.
When I needed to change my email, THEY COULDN'T.
When I tried to get off auto pay, which they suggested,
Guess what?? THEY COULDN'T!!
Google Fiber is GREEDY AND GOOD FOR NOTHING!
I am getting rid of EVERYTHING GOOGLE. Should have done it a long time ago.
If I could give ZERO stars that…
If I could give ZERO stars that wouldn't be low enough for my experience so far. Their destruction team came with no warning or authorization to be on property to do "outdoor" install. They broke in to backyard, tore up yard, put holes in house, left a mess and trip hazard with their cable, tore up neighbors yard. Mounted their box not where wanted or needs to be, thus destroying siding. Their trip hazards, triped my senior dog causing him to fall, and us to panic about his well-being, the other hazard caused my wife to trip while running to check on our dog.
They have not held to their part of what they said. Their destroyers wear no identifying clothing, looks like a group of illegals trying to do landscaping.
Let hope someone with their head not in their ass like everyone I've dealt with today to remedy this, contacts me soon. I will let everyone know how terrible they are and will post everywhere.
So Far, So Good
Google fiber was installed here about one month ago, so this is a preliminary review. I haven't been in touch with customer service, so no opinion about that.
The installer was timely, competent, and amiable. He said that our 1 gig connection would probably speedtest around 700 mb, and that was accurate. Google supplied the modem, router, and range extender, and all of these are working perfectly. There have been no service disruptions. No complaints at all, so far.
4 stars because we don't know about customer service. Seems that has been a sore spot for others.
Great Internet, Fantastic Stability and pure Speed
Tons of bad reviews on here and they are wrong. Google Fiber is the best internet in the United States. My speeds are always fast and the connection is stable. I get 980 down/980 up
Fast Wifi and a consistent predictable bill from Google Fiber. Comcast was terrible with surprise charges for equipment and an overage charge for using too much data. Google Fiber doesn't have a data usage meter anywhere on their website. When they say no data cap they mean it.
When people upgrade to fiber they are promised gig speeds or higher to the fiber jack itself. After that the customer needs the equipment necessary to take advantage of the pure fiber speed. If people do not have the network equipment for fiber they should probably use a different service. If they do however have fast cables and network cards to take advantage of multi-gig speeds Google Fiber is the best we have ever had.
Ignore the other reviews and get the best Internet in the United States. Google Fiber is the greatest Internet that we have ever had and it isn't even close.
Bad internet
Internet has been cutting out
20+ hours of trying to get it fixed with phone calls and techs coming to my house.
Was told at the end that the lines are owned by the City of Huntsville and they cant do anything about it.
Switching to a different provider.
Worst internet of all the barley works…
Worst internet of all the barley works half the time do the waste your money on the block of trash.
If a rep has to go up to the attic to…
If a rep has to go up to the attic to run the wire for the jack you can forget about getting internet. Had 4 men come by and not one would do it. They said they needed a small guy to go up to the attic to do it. The spectrum guy before went up and had no problem doing it and he was not small at all. A total waste of time and money. If they say they will call you back trust me they won’t. They leave notes on your account making it look like they are waiting to hear back from you when in reality you’re waiting for a call back from them. They did that to me twice. Didn’t even get the internet installed to use it and they were quick to want to charge me! So unprofessional. Go somewhere else for better services!
Pathetic Service and Unresponsiveness
I am extremely disappointed with the abysmal service provided by Google Fiber. My experience has been nothing short of frustrating and infuriating, culminating in an unresolved service request that has been pending for over a month. Despite multiple attempts to reach out for assistance, the response has been non-existent.
Lack of Response to Service Requests
I initially created a service request over a month ago, expecting a prompt and professional resolution. However, Google Fiber's customer service has been anything but responsive. After waiting for weeks without any update or action, I decided to follow up through various channels.
Multiple Unsuccessful Contact Attempts
I approached Google Fiber via email, text, and phone calls, hoping to get some attention to my unresolved issue. Each method led to the same dead end:
Emails went unanswered, leaving me to wonder if they were even being read.
Texts were ignored, providing no reassurance or acknowledgment.
Phone calls were especially frustrating. Not only did I fail to get any concrete answers, but there were also no supervisors available to escalate my complaint to. Each call felt like an endless loop of unhelpful responses.
No Supervisor Availability
The absence of any available supervisor to address my concerns is unacceptable. It's a basic expectation for any service-oriented company to have a system in place for handling escalations. Google Fiber's failure in this regard speaks volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction.
Escalation to NC DOJ
As a last resort, I submitted a formal complaint to the North Carolina Department of Justice (NC DOJ). Even after this serious step, there has been no response from Google Fiber. Their disregard for a formal complaint from a regulatory body is both shocking and disheartening. This level of negligence is indicative of a company that has little to no regard for its customers or their grievances.
Conclusion
In summary, Google Fiber's customer service is pathetically inadequate. The complete lack of response and accountability is unacceptable for any service provider. Their failure to address service requests, unavailability of supervisors, and disregard for a complaint filed with the NC DOJ are clear indicators of their poor service quality. I would strongly advise anyone considering Google Fiber to look elsewhere. Save yourself the frustration and choose a provider that values its customers and stands behind its service commitments.
I have WCFiber at my home location
I have WCFiber at my home location. This is the first month having service. All going well until there were construction service going on yesterday outside my residence, I guess hooking up a neighbor the final result was they spliced a wire and did not connect my service back up. I was in the middle of an interview and lost connection. The workers outside had left and I could not get back on the internet until next morning. I called 3 times of course they were closed at 5pm, so I dialed repair and that gentlemen said no one can come out until tomorrow. So I was without service from 3pm to 9am the next day. I called customer support to credit me the outage and of course they do not do that. The workers unplugged my line and did not plug back in. Negligence on there part, but yes I still have to pay even though my internet, tv were down. G0 FIGURE, no help for there customers just have to pay and shut the .... up.
Good internet, horrible customer service
Internet works well, but customer service could not be worse. It's probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I've never had a positive experience. Visits to my home to fix wifi are commonly rescheduled often to weeks later, customer service agents make your life really hard, and it often takes 2-3 phone calls to get what you need. Today I had a conversation with Meyling, who was not only rude and unprofessional, but also I felt that I was speaking about apples and Meyling about oranges. If my building made any other internet offering available, I would switch in a heart beat.
Don't do it! Don't get Google Fiber.
Google Fiber is in my neighborhood, my house even had the fiber run to it by the previous owners. 4 different GF crews had to come to the house over the course of a month and I was never able to get internet. the communication between their departments was zero, so I had to keep calling or getting on the chat to find out if they fixed it, or if they had somebody scheduled to fix it. Each time, the customer service people had little to no idea what was going on. They didn't know what hardware google uses. They didn't know google's internal workflows (like how actually schedule a crew, etc).
Finally, I gave up and requested a cancellation. Another dysfunctional rep -- two days later, no emails no nothing, and my card gets charged. I hop back on the chat and 53 minutes later they again told me the account is cancelled and my card is refunded. Let's hope this time was a charm. I'm NEVER going back to google fiber - They are worse than comcast!
made a mess of my driveway and used my…
made a mess of my driveway and used my street strip of grass as their garbage can. Left all sorts of gravel in my grass which we had to remove to mow. Then I was dumb enough to sign up for fiber. The in home installer showed but could not install as the people who dig up your yard had never come so there was nothing to hook the equipment up to. They
had over 3 weeks from when I scheduled my appointment to install the cable to the house. THEN THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO EMAIL ME SAYING I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT.Thank goodness I didn't disconnect my cable internet service!!!!!!
SEPT 5TH:These installation people installed (sort of) google fiber after my account was closed! They are so awful they left all the cables above ground. When I called google they said it would take up to 10 business days to remove all that dangerous above ground wire in my yard. They told me not to cut the wire so I had to dismantle their box from my home and roll up the wire and move the stuff to the edge of my property for safety reasons and to be able to mow the yard safely! These liars never tell me when they come or anything. They seem sneaky like they are trying to dodge you. I am no longer able to reach google support by phone as I keep getting disconnected ( long hold time that turns into a rapid busy signal on my last three times trying to call them). My guess is they cannot handle all the complaints!
Google is evil
Google is evil. Worse and worse year after year. Products don't work, support is terrible, company can't be trusted. Endless theft of your time, money and patience.
installation was very quick
installation was very quick, and everything worked in from tv's, network printer, VOIP phone, cell phone extender. Matt N. did a great job, straightened out my mess of wires.
Google prorates like the rest
At first Google was better than the competition. They didn't charge extra fees, they didn't 'prorate' customers for service they haven't used.
That was 2 years ago. Since then they began 'prorating ' customers for service they never even used or had access to? How is that legal? How can an Internet company legally charge customers for services that weren't rendered?
I have had enough of Google fiber. We will be switching to AT&T or another company that does NOT prorate customers.
Terrible!
Terrible!! Worst internet services I've ever had. Slightest cloud in the sky and your service will take to a dial up speed if it works at all. Customer service is scripted garbage that is NOT helpful at all. Try the 'chat' option, I dare you....tip of the day: pack a lunch and water because it will take hours to get to a human, get a half-baked answer that is NOT helpful in the least. They will kiss your ass until you are in and then poof - they are gone.
