Had never heard of them prior to searching for a 2nd hand Sony 135mm f1.8 which they had. Very fair price with a description that was wholly accurate and actually under sold how great the condition was. Lens arrived when they said it would and was extremely well packaged. It was also in outstanding condition - could have passed for new. All in, fantastic experience and glad I’m aware of them - I’ll be purchasing again without hesitation.

My postman has just delivered to me the parcel containing the Samyang 10mm f3.5 lens, incredibly well protected by swathes of bubble wrap and other insulating materials.
I have inspected the lens and I am absolutely delighted with it and when I have sent this email I shall walk down to the sea and take some shots with it.

Ffordes gave realistic condition and cost evaluations of one camera body and three lenses that I wished to sell, and sold all by commission in a few weeks. They provided detailed statements about the condition of the equipment, and gave honest and clear statements when advertising the items. The prices they achieved were highly satisfactory for me. So I can strongly recommend this service.

I've just been over to drop off some equipment that I'm not using enough, and once again had a quick, sensible checkover of the kit and a prompt price for the commission sale. I've bought both new and used equipment from them, film and digital, as well as selling through them and in both directions the service has been exemplary. My experience with this company has been extremely positive and I would highly recommend Ffordes photography.
I have recent experience of buying both new and used photographic gear and also selling used equipment through Ffordes. All elements of this have been helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

What has triggered me writing a review though, is when Ffordes have stepped-in following a manufacturing fault (on a new camera). Chris dealt with my query and on the same day even delivered a replacement to my home on his way back from work.

Thank goodness I didn’t buy this camera through one of the large and faceless suppliers, as I would still be trying to sort out the problem months later. Top marks to Ffordes for good old fashioned customer service, (not often experience elsewhere).

I sent an email enquiry regarding lens advice & received a v friendly, prompt response with several options.
I purchased a Canon EF 100-400 mm f/4:5-5.6L IS USM for an amazing price, delivered next day. Came with original case, box & lens hood.
Fantastic, knowledgeable & friendly cant recommend highly enough. Will definitely use again & recommend to all my birding friends. Love to use small independent businesses 😬👍
Incidentally, I did contact several of the big names initially, for advice, & had no response from any!!

I have occasionally used Ffordes to sell photo equipment for some years now. I have found Ffordes’ service to be faultless and have enabled me to sell items much more easily than via online auction sites. I seldom respond to requests by businesses for a review but Ffordes are an exception. I happily give the company full marks.

I had a really great experience at Ffordes buying my first proper camera. Chris gave me lots of help and I got a really good deal and could even part exchange my old camera which I chose to go for store credit for when I next come in to buy lenses. The customer experience is brilliant and everyone has so much knowledge. My camera itself is so good I love it and it came with 6 month warranty which is nice. Thanks a lot, I’ll be back!

I have purchased from Ffordes many times over the years buying both used items and new. I have also used their buying services, for part exchanges and more recently a commission sale. I find them very friendly, knowledgeable and able to give a reliable service. I am constantly reassured by their ability to deal fairly and respond immediately to queries or any help requested. A first class retailer.

I had amazing service recently when buying a Leica telephoto lens secondhand from them. Steve who I spoke to was knowledgeable and helpful when I asked multiple questions about the lens and he secured the sale.
The lens arrived very swiftly and was beautiful as described.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them as a valuable asset if you’re looking for photography gear.
I only wish they weren’t so far away; it would have been great to pop in, but Scotland is off my bus-route :)

I was recommended to Ffordes many years ago and have bought cameras and lenses there. The service has always been excellent and the staff very helpful in giving advice either by 'phone or, now, the internet.

It only took Alister a couple of days to email me sale prices for several film cameras and lenses. The prices were high enough to give me a fair price after commission but designed to sell reasonably quickly, and after a month of listing two thirds have already sold.
Ffordes arranged next day collection from me and then checked and tested everything. A couple of items needed cleaning or servicing, but done at fair prices.
A great service by lovely people.
