Best place for Inverts on the east coast

I’ve ordered from fear not for years at this point and most of my collection in from them. I have never had an issue, with animals I’ve received. The support team is awesome and always gets back to me quickly. Now most importantly, is the passion and care for the animals. Animal safety is key and fear not does it the best. I love fear not so much that will keep buying from them and I look forward to working with them as I start producing my own Slings.

Best place to order tarantulas

I have been ordering various species from Fear Not Tarantulas since February 2020, I have probably close to 100 tarantulas thanks to them. I always have my order shipped to FedEx for safe pickup, so that I know my new pets will arrive safely.

Never once have I had any issues with this company; they are so easy to contact via email and are always willing to offer advice and support, especially via their Facebook group. Everyone who I have talked to has always been very kind, helpful, and understanding.

My order which shipped Wednesday was delayed due to weather and did not end up arriving until today (Friday), however, I woke up to an email Thursday morning from Fear Not Tarantulas alerting me to the delay and made sure I knew what to do and what to expect, which was very much appreciated because I would have otherwise had no idea why or what was going on with FedEx and why my package was not updated.

Just overall the best company to order tarantulas from in my experience, I can’t even remember how I found them originally, but I’m so glad I did! I only wish I was local to their storefront so I could visit them in person!

They truly are the best.

I've been dealing with fear not tarantula for 4 months shy of 2 years and I think there the absolute best. There customer service is great there always willing to help solve any problem or answer any question you have. I've never had any problems with any spiders I've gotten from them. Shipped great. I can't praise them enough. All the workers are kind and caring and knowledgeable it makes working with them a breeze.

By far the greatest experience I’ve had

Fear Not Tarantulas, Inc. is truly one of a kind. It’s BY FAR my favorite store! The staff is always so friendly, personable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. I’ve purchased about 90% of my collection here, and every experience has been wonderful. I’ve never once been disappointed. I often stop by just to browse and chat because the team makes everyone feel welcome. They’re also incredibly kind and patient with my two little ones (ages 2 and 6), who can be a bit of a handful sometimes. That kind of patience and warmth is rare these days, and it really speaks to the heart of this business.

Even when you can’t make the trip, their shipping process is fast, reliable, and so customer-friendly. They’ll even combine orders at no extra charge, a thoughtful touch that shows how much they care about their customers. For example, during their Valentine’s Day sale, I ordered a Chilean T, and unbeknownst to me, my husband (who’s not exactly a spider fan but is slowly warming up thanks to this amazing team!) surprised me with a second one. It turned out to be one of my favorite memories.

Most recently we attended their Halloween event as a family (Myself, husband, and five kids ranging from 2months-13years) despite the store being PACKED with guests, the staff were able to give everyone attention. They allowed people to handle some of the critters and upon walking up Miss Tanya had a beautiful Brazilian Black out to show the kids! It was such a wonderful experience, and a seamless pickup of my Halloween sale order which included an early Christmas gift for our 6 year old (blue death feigning beetles). It was wonderful the get to experience this with my family. Everytime we go it brings my husband and oldest daughter a little closer to loving my “creepy” crawlers

Fear Not Tarantulas is more than just a store, it’s a community of kind, passionate people who make the hobby even more enjoyable. I can’t recommend them enough.

They’ve earned my trust, my loyalty, and my deepest appreciation. I’ll be a lifelong customer! 🕷️💜

I’m absolutely in love with FearNot!

I’m absolutely in love with fear not Tarantulas’s! They packaged my babies and everything so safely!! There was a delay at fedex but that’s on fedex! And all my babies were able to make it to me safely because of how much care and precautions they put into their packaging!! I wish I took pictures because there was a (fake)scorpion in there that scared me!! And I love all the events they do to celebrate 🎉

Fearnots one of those companies that actually care about what they are doing and expanding the hobby for everyone everywhere!! Customer service absolutely amazing replied fast with any questions I had regarding shipping or sizes of the T’s I bought!

Buyer beware!!!

I’m amending my review, because I’ve really seen their “true colors” over the past couple days. They are NOT in any way concerned with making their customers happy. What are they concerned with? BLAME! Blaming their customers for everything! I was home the entire day that my order, was SUPPOSED to be delivered! There was a delay(not MY FAULT) & because they did not specify in their e-mail regarding the delay that it was important that customers not re-route orders, and my concern over my order never getting here(not to mention that I cannot just sit at home for 2 days after the order was due to arrive like they WANT us to do, who can do that, honestly?), yes I re-routed my order. Was I given any advice or offered any “support” or ANY HELP AT ALL? NO! The only thing I was offered was BLAME-it’s MY FAULT, this is happening b/c of what I DID! Do I want to support a company whose entire mission is to shift all blame to their customers & bully them in the tarantula community? NO, A RESOUNDING NO! Do you want to support a company like this? GO RIGHT AHEAD, GOOD LUCK. I won’t even go into their arrive alive guarantee. They’ve lost this customer for life & I will tell everyone about my experience!

Edit: We see Sarah has changed her review quite a lot so we are addressing these changes. We in no way blame customers for FedEx delays. When a customer reroutes a package it will always cause a delay and that is due to the reroute request. Much of this played out in a Facebook forum and many in the tarantula community let her know she was in the wrong, sometimes in a bit of a harsh way. We have no control over FB comments on a post or review that someone makes. Only the customer has control over that. We were there for all 63 customers affected by this delay and out of hundreds of spiderlings shipped out, we only had 2 that did not make it. All of our other customers were very understanding and followed our instructions for handling the delay. Many thanked us for the great communication we had with them and for making sure the spiderlings were safe.🌟 Hi Sarah. As you know, we have ALWAYS honored our live guarantee when there is a carrier delay. In fact, we were the first retailer to cover orders in the event of a carrier delay. Since the first package we shipped about 12 years ago, it is a policy we have and we now see others do the same thing. It is the right thing to do. What will void a live guarantee is if a customer reroutes a package to a facility that does not accept live animals, which is what you did. This is not only dangerous for the animals, but it is against the rules of FedEx and could jeopardize our ability to ship using FedEx. We state this very clearly, as we showed you via email, in our terms of service as well as the email we send with shipping details. It is in red, bold, very clearly stated. All those who ship living creatures have these rules for the safety of the animals we ship. As we told you, your live guarantee would be in effect if you had just allowed the package to be picked up at the FedEx hub that accepts live animals just 8 miles from your home. If you were not home at the time of delivery, the package would be taken there and held safely until you could pick it up. If a customer is not home for delivery, FedEx leaves a door tag with the address for where to pick up. If something is attempted to be rerouted, we no longer know where it will end up and it causes even further delays. Folks can check out our Facebook and Google reviews to see we set the gold standard for shipping tarantulas. The safety of the animals is always put first and most of our customers appreciate that we do that.

Staff was amazing and very helpful!

Staff was amazing and very helpful!! Being a new tarantula owner I asked a lot of questions lol... but the two employees working were super helpful and patient with me. Extremely knowledgeable staff! Great website and great in store. The store is clean well kept up and all of the spiders and animals seem very happy and healthy. I bought a Mexican white knee tarantula and got a 2nd spider for free. I'm already wanting to go back to the store to get another! Amazing place! Let’s make tarantulas great again!

I ordered two slings from FNT, received one and an empty vial

I ordered two slings from FNT. It took a month for them to be delivered and I was patient because it was due to weather concerns. But upon arrival one of the vials only contained moss. After contacting customer service they responded by treating me like a moron, saying that the tarantula is for sure there and saying I should've followed procedures that I already followed IE unpacking over a bowl, using a bright light to see the tarantula, keeping the contents of the vial. They also said that most customers with this issue find their tarantula in the moss the next day. I had stated in my original email that I would follow up in a couple days on whether or not it showed up. They were the ones that decided to respond right away on their personal time even though I mentioned that I understood that they weren't open and could contact me when they opened in four days. (Side note: what kind of schedule is Sat-tues? Can't be Mon-Fri like normal people?) They then asked for proof of lack of tarantula, which I provided a video. Their only response was that I shouldn't be so rough with the tongs. I ALREADY SIFTED THROUGH IT FOR A HALF AN HOUR UNDER MY EXTREMELY BRIGHT HEADLAMP, THERE ISN'T ANY TARANTULAS IN THE MOSS TO BE WORRIED ABOUT. Then they proceeded to point out that the package wasn't picked up within two hours. I explained that I was at work at time of delivery and had no ability to pick it up. Their only response was "wE cAn puT a dIffeRenT NaMe on thE labEl"
Whether or not I received my tarantula is neither here nor there. But it is the customer service response that irked me. You are selling a product that costed you next to nothing. How hard is it to just right the wrong and secure a future customer. Instead you preach your bulls*** policies that are nigh impossible for the average working American to abide by.

Fast forward to September. FNT has finally responded to my review. Again they failed to read that I followed their instructions as far as unpacking was concerned. The only thing I did wrong was let it sit at the shipping center more than two hours, which tOTaLLy changes whether the tarantula was in the vial or not. I would add that I still have the moss in a container as a reminder not to order FNT and still no tarantula. Me and my girlfriend often refer to it as "Houdini-our pet sphagnum moss" as a joke. This was the 1% of the time that they in fact sent an empty vial and in turn lost a future customer due to their arrogant customer service response. I had already counted it as a loss the day of and moved on. Just wanted to add this because I thought it was funny that they responded to my review SEVEN MONTHS after the fact.

Our apologies for taking so long to respond. We were just made aware of Trustpilot. It is just not where most go to do reviews for us. We never ever want a customer to feel like they are being treated badly. When someone tells us they cannot find their spiderling, the first thing we want them to know is that it is in the vial and they should not give up on looking for it. As long as our customer follows our instructions, 95% of the time they find the spiderling. This happens a couple of times a month and most always results in them finding the spiderling. If a customer does not follow those instructions, the spiderling could get away from them. If we do not let customers know that we do not ship empty vials, they may give up and then the life of the spiderling will be lost. It is virtually impossible for us to ship an empty vial with the process we have. If a customer does follow our instructions, we ALWAYS offer to replace the lost spiderling. We are glad to answer any questions regarding our policies via email at support@fearnottarantulas.com or you can call our shop during our open hours.

Our T arrived a full week late and died, despite everyone ON OUR SIDE, doing everything as instructed, in less than 18 hours!!!

THEIR LATEST REPONSE WAS TO BLAME ME BECAUSE I STARTED SHAKING AFTER A WEEK OF DRAMA WHEN I FOUND OUR T DEAD!!! THEY ARE PUT OUT BECAUSE I WONT CODDLE THEM!!! THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! RUN!!!

Ms. Solter received a healthy tarantula and posted about it on social media with photos. It showed a moving, living tarantula. She then emailed us within the hour telling us the tarantula was dead. The photo she sent was of a small habitat with dirt covering the top and sides, not at all what it looked like on the FB photo she had posted. We have all documentation because she reported this to the Virginia Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau who refused to take the case after we showed all the messages and documentation. Fear Not Tarantulas has fantastic customer service as can be seen on our social media and Google reviews.

I was sent smaller than advertised…

I was sent smaller than advertised spiders from FearNot
They asked me to send photos and kept changing the requirements for the photos as we went along.
I had been clearly sent sizes smaller than advertised and they refused to do anything for me dispite the photos I sent.
In the end: they expected me to stretch the 1/4 slings legs do they can get a proper measurement.
Really stetch a 1/4 inch slings legs.
They ask for a picture then keep asking for different things that get more and more ridiculous before they say that is the size they sent.
I feel ripped off
Also for the $50 I paid for shipping I think they could have put in a couple of heat pads in the box which was very poorly packaged.
Order with extreme caution from this vendor

Good day Matthew. There has never ever been a time when we did not honor the sizing of spiderlings we sell. We have always made it right if we send the wrong sized spiderling. All we ask for is a photo of the spiderling on a quarter so we can verify the size was not correct. If a photo is sent that does not allow us to see the size, of course we would ask for another photo. We are very careful about sizing, knowing that .. size matters. We never ever expect anyone to stretch out a spiders legs! We set the standard for shipping tarantulas and have for a decade. Adding a heat pack if it is not needed only adds more risk to the spiderling in the box. We ship hundreds of boxes out each week and have the lowest DOA rate because we are so great at getting spiderlings safely to their destination.

Ordered lots of tarantula from them

Ordered lots of tarantula from them, very unpleasant. Tried to write a review on their page (after reaching out with my issues and got bullied on Facebook because of it) and the reviews got DELETED and I was blamed. I ordered, they shipped it to a fed ex center not of my chosing, once I got my order (drove hour or two) I had a dead tarantula, and the time limit to report the dead animal had passed because of the drive to pick my order up!

There is no way for us to delete a FB review. I did see that after we presented our side, many did come to our defense. We received a tarantula from Mr. Luna that was supposed to have been a mature male. It was a mature female and shipped with no cushioning at all, nothing. It arrived deceased. It was only when we presented this to him and did not pay him for the tarantula that he started making complaints about his past orders. If someone has a long drive to a FedEx, we always give them extra time to let us know about any problems. Any questions about this that anyone I will be glad to answer, just email us at support@fearnottarantulas.com. I have screenshots and photos of everything.

Worst Customer Service

These people are beyond unprofessional, the owner Tanya is the absolute worst at customer service.

I would recommend just about any other tarantula breeder over this craptastic place.

I had to cancel an order because they changed my order to ship to a shipping center and I wasn’t available to drive all the way out to the shipping center the 2 days I had to choose from.

The next time I went to place an order a few weeks later, they simply refused to ship anything to me.

At this point I’m happy not to give them my business, but I’ll be sharing this experience everywhere.

We have strict temperature restrictions when we ship because we are dealing with living creatures. These conditions are stated clearly on our website. We cannot ship to a home if your weather if very hot or cold, but we can ship to a FedEx center for pickup. It is much safer because packages go directly to a FedEx and are held in a climate controlled area for pickup. Anyone who ships live creatures is very careful about these things, and the vast majority of our customers understand that and actually appreciate that we put the well being of the animals we deal with first. You are here making a review when your order was canceled because you refused to do what was safest for the animals. Would it make sense for us to sell animals to a customer who makes threats and pressures us to do what is not safe for the animals? No, we will not do that. Our social media review show our outstanding customer service.
