Fairchild's Vinegar
On June 12,2026 I placed an order (Order FV84934) with Fairchild's Vinegar. This was my second time ordering from them. I like their apple cider vinegar because they use organically grown apples. The way they pack their product is also on a whole other level. They pack them like fine China. No broken bottles or leakages. The other thing I like about them is their very responsive customer service. I took one star off because right after this shopping experience, I received an email from Shopify welcoming me to their fold. That was not the disturbing part. I shop a lot on line and when I tried to shop again, as I was getting ready to pay, Shopify popped up with my credit card number as if it got a hold of my wallet and had control of my credit card. I was very upset. Since Shopify communicated with me right after my transaction with Fairchild's Vinegar, I reached out to Fairchild's and found out that they were using the Shopify platform to process their transactions. I was never given the chance to make a choice to agree to be a part of Shopify or not. The previous time I shopped at Fairchild's, I did not end up becoming a Shopify victim. I guess they became associated with Shopify after that. By virtue of my shopping at Fairchild's, I became fair game to Shopify. On their part, Shopify told me that whenever I shop at businesses they partnered with, I was giving consent for them to collect and save my personal data. They added that I may also have clicked a promotion of theirs, get a few cents or dollars in savings in exchange for Shopify holding my personal data hostage. I replied that I was not desperate for money and I would never willingly click on a promotion to save myself a little money, but sacrifice my privacy. I requested they remove my personal data and they said I had to download their app which I refused to do. They then asked me to sign in into my Shopify account as it was the only other way I could request my data to be deleted. I replied, "What account?" since I did not knowingly create an account. Anyway, I had a long exchange with Fairchild's customer service. I told them that everywhere else I shopped online, I was always given a choice of opening an account where the business would keep my personal data and I could access the same with a password, or shop as a guest. The way Shopify does things is very surreptitious. The data collection business is a multi billion dollar industry, and everyone should be able to make money, but not at the expense of the privacy of an unwilling participant. Shopify continued to pop up wherever I shopped online even after the thirty days time frame they promised to remove my personal data. I had to make changes on my own browser's settings and dump Shopify into my spam folder. I do not know why Fairchild's is partnering with Shopify when Shopify is receiving a lot of negative reviews. The one good change that came out of this is Fairchild's promising to make their partnership with Shopify very evident to their customers. No surreptitious collection of people's personal data. For those of you who do not mind being associated with Shopify, Fairchild's sells great ACV since the other ACV brand that was a household name seems to have changed in quality. Fairchild's has a very good customer service and they ship fast.
