Not an inclusive or diverse company
I applied for a position with this company, which was open to anyone in the U.K and Ireland.
I have over 13 years experience in the coffee industry, I have also raised money for a large number of charities over this time. Winning awards for customer service and helping to facilitate a Youth project to break down barriers to entry in the coffee industry for disadvantaged young people in Glasgow.
This was the response I received from the company and why you should not have anything to do with them.
"Hi XXX, your experience is great - however you are based in Glasgow and this role requires the successful candidate to be located in the UK or Ireland.
Kind Regards,"
TO: SCA
"Hi,
Thank you for such a quick reply.
Glasgow is one of the largest cities in the UK being only 5 hours on the train from London, if this was the only factor and my experience wasn't an issue, could you please reconsider my application.
Kind regards"
"Hi XXX,
Apologies - I meant England. Unfortunately we will not be reconsidering your application.
Kind Regards,
"
"Hi XXX,
Thank you for you message.
Kind Regards,
Elizabeth Odushola
Chief People Officer"
This company, did not offer me an interview not based on experience, but where i was from. This position was open to the whole of the UK and Ireland, they didn't seem to know that Glasgow was part of the UK, then said, sorry its now only open to people in England, with no real reason as to why.
This is meant to be a non profit that prides itself on being open, inclusive and diverse and passionate about looking after after the rights of others, how can this be true when on a whim they discriminate against 2/3s of the UK for no reason.
The uk and ireland are not just England. If you are thinking about having anything to do with this company, don't, find another company to support, one that values the person, not where they come from.
