Two Weeks of Issues and No Answers from Etihad

I’m genuinely disappointed with my recent experience with Etihad. For the past two weeks, I have been unable to access my account, and despite multiple attempts, I still haven’t received any clear explanation or solution. Every interaction with customer service has been frustrating, they provide no updates, no follow-through, and no clarity.

Onboard, the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, which is unacceptable considering it’s advertised and often relied upon for work and travel coordination. To make matters worse, I’ve been completely unable to use my accumulated miles because of the ongoing account issues.

I chose Etihad because I expected reliability and professionalism, but this experience has been incredibly disappointing. I truly hope they improve customer communication, technical support, and the overall service quality. Until then, I’m reluctant to fly with them again.

BAIT AND SWITCH. AVOID!

Bought a business class ticket on Ethiad, expecting ... you guess it... business class quality. Instead I found myself on a Wamos plane, that was so old and rickety I honestly worried that we could fall out of the sky. Even the first flight with an actual Ethiad plane was very very old. I'm particular about flying with airlines with a newer fleet and pay more for tickets to avoid crap hole planes and airlines. Yet here I found myself on this dog of a plane that should have been retired 7 eons ago. If I wanted to FLY ON A RUST BUCKET, I would NOT BE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE!

Ethiad will write its own decline with practices such as this. I will never book with them again, and you should seriously reconsider as well.

My experience was very bad

My experience was very bad. When I booked with them, I thought they were a reputable company, but the truth is they don't keep their commitments, even though they're in writing.
On a flight from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi, the Ethiad plane suffered a considerable delay for technical reasons, causing me to miss a connection and arriving at my destination more than eleven hours late.
The company's own terms and conditions, published on their website, established financial compensation for this situation. Well, they have refused to pay the compensation, and the company I entrusted with the claim to Ethiad has acknowledged that I was entitled to the compensation, but the airline won't pay it because they know that legal action is very complicated.
So be careful.

Broken seats twice in business class

I traveled business class Dublin abu Dhabi,Abu Dhabi Delhi on 19 December.
The seat I booked was a window with privacy but it was broken on the old beat up 777 do they moved me to an aisle seat with no privacy.
On the next leg the seat I got was broken and the flight attendant had to take out the cushion and move the seat manually each time I wanted to change postion.I lodged a complaint a month ago but no reply.The crew dub abu Dhabi were excellent average on the next leg.Food was good.

FROM CHECKIN TO LANDING AT ABU DHABI - EXCELLENCE

We had booked a later flight - being in Heathrow and driving there fortunately actually made it sooner than expected - asked check-in if we could go on the earlier flight - No Problem. From first encounter with staff at T4 to getting in to Abu Dhabi - it was a premium service. Great new clean planes - cabin crew were excellent, and the whole journey was a 5-Star experience - pay the uplift and travel in Business worth every penny, you will not be disappointed.

Kept check-in open allowing me to make the flight

Recently on a flight to Africa we had some issues with a visa, but thanks to Ethiad staff I still made it. Flight was good and on time as usual, but had this been a British Airways flight I would have missed the flight - besides being on an older plane with less service.

Completely fooled by Ethiad Air

In February last year, I asked at the Ethiad office in Manila to extend and rebook my return trip later from Manila to Brussels. It cost $220 they said. I agreed, then was told that I had to pay for the ticket as well which both me and my wife heard. I then think that the ticket was not paid because it was determined to be taken on invoice. I then paid at the office the entire trip through my visa directly to Ethiad for a total of 11,800:- Swedish kronor, approx. 1,500 dollars. When I got home to Sweden, the travel agency "Sembo" requested payment for the ticket again at SEK 11,100. Now it has turned out that Ethiad lied to me and my wife. They charged 11,800:- SVK in rebooking price for a one-way trip back to Sweden. This was therefore more expensive than what the entire ticket cost round trip from Sweden via Brussels. So Ethiad has therefore charged me twice + that they were able to sell the flight seat that became free that I canceled in order to be able to travel later. Everyone should be warned about Ethiad Air, they will rip the shirt off you if they can. It is terrible that they can exploit their customers so cynically. Never fly with Ethiad Air as a warning. If Ethiad have any honesty they fix this issue in some way ... 3048905 / SFCNWG

shi**y layover information

The whole process went fine . And the send you all these good ideas to explore the city of abu dhabi if you have more then 12 hours layover.. so i did (had 14 hours) ,, i went back to the airport, beacuse i wanted some food and a nice place to rest before the next flight, have been traveling for 12 hours allredy and have a 10 hour planeride ahead...
But that was not possible.. because you are not allowed to stay inside the airport for more then six hours .. i know its an airport rule, but ethiad fails to inform you about this .. if i did stay inside the airport, i could have stayed the hole 14 hours, but because i went outside, i can only get back in 6 hours prior to my flight, wich in this case is 2 am , so now im sitting in the entrance of the terminal on the floor. As the lady said "its only 3 hours" clearly she havent been travelling the most of the day... 😡 would have been nice with this information berfore going outside for 3 hours to kill time ... but now you guys know .

Father with cancer, despicable treatment by Ethiad

In October 2022 my wife and I travelled back to the UK via Ethiad Airlines to visit my family as my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was due to have an operation. On the 22nd of October after my father was recovering, 2 weeks before we were due to leave I called the airline to ask about the possibility of moving our flights out 6 days to stay longer to help my mother and support my father. I tried to give as much notice as possible and knew there would be $300 schedule change charge per person but was ready to pay this. The agent in the Indian call centre told me that it would be “$1773 for both” to make this change to the exact same flight 6 days later. I said that this was ridiculous as this was more than the price we paid for a single return ticket from Melbourne! After discussion of options, I reluctantly decided to pay this amount to stay with our family. The agent took my credit card details, did not confirm the total (but I knew the amount we discussed) and I finished the call assuming all had been arranged. I received multiple emails and I thought that’s double what I was expecting. My wife and I were going away for a few days to rest ourselves and it was at this point I noticed that $1773 had been taken from my credit card twice!! I called the airline as soon as I could and they said it was the price per passenger perhaps? I said that I was 100% not told this and that this had been taken twice which was especially shady as my wife and I are on the same itinerary. When I paid for the tickets originally it was done in one transaction, which I might add was less than this cost! I now regret not calling my credit card company and blocking this theft but I was in transit and assumed that this was clearly a mistake and that they would see this and refund one of the payments. They launched an investigation and said after listening “many times” to our phone conversation that the agent mumbled something and was not clear in anyway but they believe she said “as per the adult” towards the end of the conversation. I said that I had not heard that at all and I had only 1 chance to listen! I asked why if the agent believed she made a mistake didn’t she admit it and be clear about it, advising me of the new total of approx $3500 dollars, which I would have never agreed to. They said they believed she said something which was an attempt (although in no way clear or transparent) so they refused to refund the incorrect payment. The supervisor told me she was sorry and felt for my situation but could not help me, she said to go and write an email to the “Feedback team" and that they would be able to find me a resolution after 28days!!! This was in November 2022, it is now August 2023, I have called multiple times and have been stuck in a very deliberate closed feedback loop. Last time I called I was told that the case was closed with no resolution and without contacting me!! I have been told that the case will be reopened and that the Feedback team will be in contact in another 28 days but, what year will this happen? Ethiad clearly do not care about retaining their customers as I have had money stolen, I have been provided no recording of my phone conversation with their agent. I have been repeatedly lied to by this company and shown little to respect especially under my circumstances with my sick parent. There is clearly no honour or integrity in this company or their customer service process where they are deliberately waiting me out hoping that I will go away. I now have to spend even more time and stress reporting Ethiad to the industry Ombudsman in the middle east. As they have been unwilling to speak to me, maybe they will speak to them.

If I could give ZERO stars I would! I needed to cancel flights due to death of parent. Submitted all the proofs requested. Had confirmation that all necessary documents were received. That was OCTOBER 2022. It is now JUNE 2023. Still no refund. HOURS spent on the phone. Always assured "your case has been escalated. We are so sorry. I promise it will be sorted out". Raised a complaint via the correct channel. NEVER got response! Ask to speak to supervisor/manager. NEVER available! I hope no-one, who has lost a loved one and couldn't take a trip, ever has the kind of experience I have had with Etihad. As of now, still no refund! "Being dealt with internally. This will take time" is the latest response! DO NOT TRUST THIS AIRLINE WITH YOUR MONEY

Bug on their side, modification not done. Cannot fly back on the proper date, no compensation !!!

I made a modification concerning a return flight via Etihad for two people: Bangkok-Paris on March 2nd. Change of date for the 9th of March. I pay the fees (50 euros per person) The operator of bourse-des-vols.com tells me that everything is ok but I don't receive any confirmation. I am told that everything is normal. Yesterday I receive a message telling me to get ready for my flight on March 2nd! I call Bourse des vols, they tell me ah... There is a bug... "Well, we have a seat for March 10th". I ask what to do about the expenses (hotels etc.) and problems caused (missed business meeting) by this departure 24 hours later (by their negligence). I ask at least a refund of expenses, compensation and or an upgrade. I am told that nothing can be done and that it is Etihad policy. !!!! No compensation!!! Unbelievable. They do not do their job and have no consideration for their customers.

Day robbery 12+ as adult

This is the only flight charge 12+ as adult . what a day robbery . Stay away from this flight . All others have 16+as adult . A family with 3 5 year old will be classified as 7 adults . Shame on you Etihad.

Being generous, two stars

Being generous, giving them two stars.
Customer service is poor
Plane on one leg of your journey might be old and dirty with no entertainment system and rude staff (London leg is ok, rest are awful)
Staff training and language skills are poor
Customer communication is poor

Provided a very detailed feedback on 2 occasions, never got an acknowledgement or reply. Appears company is not committed to improvement. Standards are poor.

At one occasion I was denied boarding due to lack of communication from Ethiad - They acknowledged the issue but offered no apology or a solution. Company philosophy is "It is what it is, take it or find another airline"
