Untrustworthy seller
Untrustworthy seller! Placed an order for an 1oz krugerrand gold coin on 21/01/2025. Order 1289. Seller received payment and emailed order confirmation. Called back on 27/01/2025 and asked what happened to my order as there was no update. Receptionist said they’ll call back but it didn’t happened instead I got an email asking me to send in my ID and address proof, I sent my credit card statement and copy of passport the statement was declined and passport was not clear so I sent another copy of my passport. My question is why id verification wasn’t done at the time of account registration or before payment is taken or soon after but simply waited for me to call you even after the payment is made. I was so disappointed with their levels of unprofessionalism and lack of business ethics I immediately asked to return the funds to which they went on that I must prove that it was me who made the payment. Really ? Don’t you know who made the payment ? And who funded the purchase and who’s asking the refund ? At this point I asked PayPal to step in and get the refund. On 02/02/2025 i received my refund. I have never received any apology as you messed up the order completely right from the start.

Be wary of unmentioned toning
Got caught out with toning(wasn’t described online before purchase) and the year of the coin I expected wasn’t what arrived. They weren’t very bothered about trying to help resolve. They did offer a return but I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle, so sold them privately instead. Fast shipment and easy to deal with. Once bitten twice shy, haven’t used since. Easily avoidable with better customer service and empathy.

Hi Daniel Holmes, looking at the review we believe you're referring to milk spots which is a known occurrence on silver, stating toning is incorrect. However, this is actually something quite rare for us since the majority of our inventory is brand new. So for silver coins 5-10% of the time it can happen - new or old. Also, to be clear you're referring to just x2 silver coins.
Not sure about the empathy comment or claim that we weren't very bothered. Please note we tried to help - we're open 24 hours - if we've been communicating and kindly asked you to return the coin for an exchange or refund - with us paying for the postage - then it's because we were trying to actually help and serve your needs. If as you've stated you couldn't be bothered then it's hard for us to help resolve the matter.
It's a little hard to understand why we've received this review as it does seem the coins you bought from us were both high in demand and clearly in a good enough condition for you to be able to sell them quickly and make money in the process.
Please note we usually get positive coin reviews, but we're always open to improving how we do things.

Purchased 14 of the same coin
Purchased 14 of the same coin. Of the 14 coins, 11 were flawed with Milk Spots, Abrasions and/or Gouges. Listing on the website said they were "New". Nope. Either they did not inspect them or they did inspect them and they shipped them to me anyway. Very sad. I am in the USA. This is the first time I have purchased from EB. I will see how they respond to this problem? It a shame there is a problem.

I don’t think the price reflects the real value of what I bought. I would be very wary of buying from this company in the future. They offered a product at a certain price. It appears to be well above market prices but at that point there was information beyond my knowledge. I wouldn’t buy from Essential Bullion again without really checking the market first. Part of this is my fault BUT the product is well over price in my opinion
I note your reply, and I find this idea that you were suspicious about my email and records. Quite frankly ridiculous – I have a full audit trail of order and dispatch notices via email on the address provided – so that is very suspicious on your part!
The other point you make is the time frame for my Trust Pilot comments - I responded on the day Trust Pilot invited me so that is something you can discuss with them.

Hi David Turner, unfortunately you have not made it clear that the brand new product you purchased from us is in fact a very hard to find and source Copper Bar, which reflects its price - this is a product not really sold by other bullion dealers.
Also unfortunately you seem to be unaware that the retail price will always be higher than the spot price.
We initially were a little suspicious by your order and email address: Sia Associates Ltd. We can't find any record of you engaging with us about the nature of the product or the market.
It sounds like you were not sure about what you intended to order, you received a brand new product that was high in demand. A month later, you've now made a comment on this platform that you wish you had more in-depth knowledge about the Copper market. We would have been more than happy to advise but we didn't receive a phone call about your questions regarding the Copper market. We are confused about the rating in light of this, as this was outside of our control due to not receiving your market based questions.
