I have used endnote for 3 years. It works well most of the time and has all the necessary features that other similar softwares has. However, endnote word add on needs an internet connection to ad... See more

I find EndNote to be extremely useful, but the company seems to be getting greedy and is extremely unresponsive to user input. They capriciously take away features in new versions that were in older v... See more

The interface is as clunky online as it is in the desktop app. Also, when it's so easy to just plug a DOI into a website and pull an article, or find similar articles using multiple free sources (e.g.... See more

Repeated problems with no meaningful customer service

I have had repeated problems with the program but have just given up trying to talk to official Endnote representatives. The service I have received is very limited and poor--I got more help from just googling and finding other consumer responses. I'm still struggling just to utilize the program. Outsourcing your consumer representatives is both offensive and ineffective.

Awful—almost unusable

Awful—almost unusable. Not user friendly at all. Doesn’t do what it should, which is to make your citations easily accessible in a logical manner.

Great Support

The support was helpful and necessary. I thought I lost a large segment of my library, and they were able to restore it completely. I have over 1000 books in my library so the help was greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

Good enough for me

End Note is, so far, the best way to keep track of references and interesting papers for my line of research. It is easy to use and allows for a lot of information to be at hands length. I only use some basic features of it but it is good enough for me.

First

First, I was writing my first scientific papers without a computer, so formatting the citations and references was a huge pain and reviewers often found problems with commas or other punctuation. Ugh. I bought EndNote when it first came out back in the '80's and never looked back. EndNote is a great program that makes organizing PDFs a snap, cite while you write, change formatting, etc. The improvements over the years (e.g., clicking a button to get PDFs) have be the icing on the icing of a great cake. I would like to have a greater proportion of PDFs "linkable" with a "click" although that probably has more to do with journals than with EndNote. I really have no complaints!

Unable to Transfer EndNote6 Files

I still have yet to be able to transfer my EndNote6 library to EndNote20. The instructions provided on the website are unclear and insufficient. I'm frustrated that I will likely have to call customer service and speak to a technician on what was touted to be a seamless transfer process.

EndNote20 to EndNote21 (Who knew)

I purchased EndNote20 on Feb 13, 2023, and approximately a week or two later, you sent me a message noting the new version (EndNote21) was being released; and that I should purchase it (preorder). Not cool. I should have been grandfathered into the new one since it was only a week later. To that end, I have chosen not to use the product; it just sits on my computer. I wish I could give a good review and possible constructive criticism of the product but... Disgruntled customer.

EndNote is indispensable to my science writing career

I'm always writing reports on new subjects, with maybe a hundred citations each. It's easy to import citations from PubMed (with the main complication due to lack of standardization on the journal end), to cite articles, generate footnotes or endnotes, format the bibliography, and edit all of this during the writing process. My job would be pretty unbearable without EndNote.

Is Endnote fabricating trustpilot data or what?

Endnote's website claims that it receives a 4.7/5 rating based on 1,026 reviews on Trustpilot. It is quite a surprise. So I came to here to find if there is anything I missed. Guess what, Trustpilot shows that Endnote only receives 94 reviews with a 3.6/5 rating. This is interesting.

Good so far

I felt the new Endnote version was a good product that didn't differ significantly in my use so far. I'm interested to see what it can do as I explore more.
