More than questionable ethics.
I was recommended to Efficient party wall by a third party, Resi, an architectural firm for them to assist with party wall matters pertaining to a proposed extension on my property.
Communication from the offset displayed a lack of morality and integrity. On one side of my property the neighbouring house is let out. I had to source the information myself to ensure that communications were recieved by the owners since Efficient, who are anything but their namesake, were keen for them to just land in the hands of the tenants and for timeframes to just elapse, so owners could not actively do anything and conditions went to a default stance which would financially benefit them. Since these are my neighbours, and since I have a conscience I was keen for this not to occur and for my neighbours to be treated in the manner that I would hope for in return. The morality of this company is more than questionable.
On the other side of my property, my neighbour is well known to me, and they were very open and transparent about the dealings they had had with Efficient themselves over the issues. To say that the person who was communicating with both of us was talking out of both sides of their mouth is an understatement, with everything driven towards them securing the biggest fee possible from them and not what was in the best interest of me, my neighbour or maintaining the amicable relationship we have.
Fortunately the initial communication and notices were as far as it went with this company and I am grateful that this is the case. There was enough evidence from the owner of this business during these interactions to warrant a 1 star review and I wanted to inform other people of my experience and the questionable ethics I encountered. If this is what was encountered at these preliminary stages, I can only imagine what progressing with them would have been like
