Misleading Availability, Unresponsive Support, and Project-Blocking Delays
Before placing my order, I consulted Edmund Optics’ customer support via chat to confirm product availability. I was assured that if the item was stocked in the UK, it would ship the next day, or within a week from their Netherlands warehouse.
I proceeded with the purchase based on that information. The following day, I received an email stating the product was not available at all—and might ship next year, if produced. This component is critical to my project, so I immediately contacted customer service to cancel the order.
Instead of processing the cancellation, they suggested I consider alternative products. I replied that I was open to alternatives, provided they met the same technical specifications and could be delivered promptly. I emphasized that timing was non-negotiable. Since then, I’ve received no response. My follow-up emails have been ignored.
The product was listed as available on their website. Their support team confirmed availability during our chat—either in the UK or at their European warehouse. That turned out to be false. The earliest estimated delivery is five months away, contingent on future production.
This experience has been deeply disappointing. Despite presenting themselves as a professional supplier, Edmund Optics has proven unreliable and unresponsive. I now question whether I’ll ever receive the product I paid for. It feels alarmingly close to a scam.
I cannot recommend placing any orders with this company. Do not trust the availability shown on their website or the assurances given by their support team.
This was my first—and definitely last—experience with Edmund Optics. The product was expensive and certified, and I’ve lost both time and money
