I was really looking forward to capturing special memories with a photography family pack, but the experience was rushed and underwhelming. Despite the high price, the photographer offered little guidance and seemed uninterested. We were hurried through, given minimal direction, had no chance to settle which is especially difficult with a baby, and a new family were brought into the booth before we had a chance to leave. Our photos are poorly framed, we’re not in the centre even though we were standing on the T (ironically the only guidance we received), and we’re clearly unprepared in some photos. Meanwhile, other families received more time, better direction, and could view their photos before leaving. What should have been a joyful memory is marred by a lack of care and professionalism.

Unbelievably expensive for a service with poor communication and low quality prints. Their staff was not clear that 20£ taken during photoshoot was a prepayment and not the payment for photographs. After the 20£ pay they charge 45£ per one digital image on their website for the RAW formats. Editing costs 20£ on top of that.. The print quality is awful for the price, I am sure any corner print shop will do better job for a 5£. I don’t understand the universities who lets these kind of companies to scam their own graduates. This is surely a greedy monopoly that needs rearranging.

This company is opportunistic and greedy. They use the once-in-a-lifetime experience of graduation against you by charging extremely high prices, as they know excited graduates with pay. They are the only gown hiring company your university endorses, which is fine, but on top of this, they charge £20 for pictures on the day, followed by £45 for ONE digital image when you go to order, and £20 for further digital enhancement on the image. Furthermore, if you want to keep all of your images and print them in frames, expect to pay a couple of hundred pounds as well as £10 delivery, which can take up to 6 weeks. They use every opportunity to charge you extortionate prices for a mediocre service.

This was the most disappointing experience I've encountered. The quality of the photographs was subpar, and I was provided with the incorrect gown for the ceremony. Customer service was unsatisfactory, and I paid £200 for their services. It appears that they have a monoply in the university graduation market.

Despite their presale claims – digital images will not be edited or framed correctly
*This review has been updated following lengthy correspondence with their customer service department*
If you buy digital images, they will not look ‘professional’. You will not be able to hang them on your wall. Unfortunately, this company are awarded your customer by the universities, you are not afforded the luxury of choice, so there is little incentive for them to provide a good service.
The image I received had not been properly framed at the point of capture nor had it been edited to correct the photographer's poor composition. Red carpet and the bottom of the backdrop stand were clearly visible at the bottom of the image. It could not be described as a professionally finished image.
The image I received was so bad I genuinely thought it had been sent to me in error. I was told this was entirely intentional. Initially I was told:
“We do not crop digital images as you are purchasing the rights to the entire image.”
They later said:
“Digital images are not always cropped to allow the option to print or to be used on social media.”
Both utter nonsense. I suspect the truth is that it takes a long time to properly edit and finish your photos and they simply can’t be bother!
After posting this review, requesting a refund, and sharing screenshots of their presale promise of images “edited, colour balanced, and cropped correctly” with their customer service team and trading standards, they eventually sent me an edited version.
Mobile phone cameras are excellent now, and we are all able to frame a portrait image without capturing the carpet! My advice is save your money, find a nice backdrop and get a friend to take your photo on the day — chances are, it will be better composed than the so-called 'professional' images provided by Ede & Ravenscroft.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 states goods must be ‘as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose’. If you too have fallen for this scam, my advice would be to report the matter to Trading Standards and your university. With enough reports, they may be forced into providing professionally finished images, or at least a more honest product description. Or better yet, your university might find an alternative provider!

Disappointed with quality. Photographer did little to ensure a polished look when photographing for my graduation photo. I have multiple flyaway hairs and it overall looks messy and unprofessional. I made a special trip for photographs as well and paid extra to hire a gown for a second time for this. Would have paid for digital print to Photoshop bad hair but prices are extortionate and I would then not have the embossed frame to put them in.

Let me start from positive.During my graduation, the ede and ravenscroft team was very professional. I'm happy with my gown hire. However, the photography was very expensive £65 for 2 digital photos worst ever. I have been taken photographs from professional photographers but never got this worst photographs ever. I can't use this photographs anywhere. Luckily I got much better photographs in my phone.
I never recommended photographs from ede and Ravenscroft. It is just money making . If you need enhancements for the picture it will cost extra.
Im sure you will get better photographs in your phone.

I honestly don’t know where to start with this review! I was given my marks late, and as such, I had no preparations to attend my ceremony. The university staff at JMU were nothing more than amazing. Tickets, sorted, times, and places. They couldn’t do enough for me, but what I’d like to add is the graduation manager!!
What a credit to the company! He greeted me and my family like best friends, was so empathetic to my nerves, and made me feel like the most important person in the building! I’m genuinely amazed how he gave my family and me such care in such a busy room! It’ll be a day that long lives in my memory, and I’d like to truly thank all the gowning staff for how we were treated.

The overall experience was fine, however, the hat was the worst part of the outfit. The hat was very filthy with dandruff and sandy substances. It messed my hair up and is still in it as I write this review. Outfits must be thoroughly sanitised and washed before each use.
