I placed an order for a birthday present, with the birthday falling on the Saturday, and paid for next-day delivery to ensure it arrived in time. The order was placed on Wednesday night, well before the company’s stated 2pm cut-off on Thursday for Friday delivery.
Despite this, the order was not dispatched as promised. I was repeatedly told that it had been dispatched, which was later proven to be untrue. After several calls to Parcelforce, they confirmed the parcel had not been handed over and was only dropped at a depot on the Friday.
In an effort to salvage the situation, I requested an upgrade to Saturday delivery. This request was completely ignored. When the item then failed to arrive on Saturday, I requested a refund of the next-day delivery charge, which has also been ignored.
I have since escalated the matter via PayPal. This, too, is being ignored, seemingly to exhaust the PayPal dispute timeframe.
This demonstrates a clear lack of transparency, poor customer service, and a disregard for customer communication once payment has been taken. While some customers may have no issues, it is how a company responds when problems arise that defines them — and in this case, the response has been wholly unacceptable.
It is particularly disappointing as the product itself is excellent, and the birthday recipient was pleased with it, albeit arriving late. Unfortunately, the company’s conduct significantly detracts from what should have been a positive experience.
