Excellent service and Care given.

Living in the far south of the UK, I found the car I wanted in Edinburgh BMW. After contacting and getting all the details, BMW paid for a flight to Scotland and contributed to 1 night hotel.
I paid for and collected the 2 series sports coupe with no issues or hassle before driving the 8hours back south This was in Sept 2024, I’ve had 0 since issues with car since.

Unplugged my camera system and didn’t bother to reinstate it - THEIR Employee privacy apparently

My BMW 3 went in for starter motor recall work, having waited about 6 months on it. BUT the day after someone nearly wiped me out on the M8 motorway and I thought phew I nearly had to call on my in-car camera system….HOWEVER it was totally unplugged !

I gave a poor review to Eastern as I could not see any reason they needed to touch MY CAMERA SYSTEM, but one of their folks called me to say “it’s in the small print”!!!!

Be aware fellow Eastern BMW “Service” sufferers apparently it’s for their employee privacy!!!!! To hell with my safety and begs the obvious…WHAT HAVE THEY TO HIDE?

Disappointed

I had the misfortune to have a software anomaly with my Aircon.
Booked car in and was persuaded I needed an oil and micro filter change.
Took car in prior to 9am, received a message at 15.46 to say it was now in workshop!
Upon arrival to collect my car( 16.30) I was informed I had a software anomaly that would require a programming update but they had no time to do this as it takes 30-60 minutes.
Why they didn't do the diagnostics first ( this would've given ample time to do programming ) they couldn't explain.
They did carry out FIRST ...a complimentary Health check,THEN my service THEN the diagnostics.
Having had terrible service from Western ( same company) previously, it seems customer experience is way down their priorities.
I had considered trading my vehicle and buying new from them, indeed ,I had a pre arranged sales appointment. The red flags and warning signs were duly noted, next purchase will NOT be with Eastern .
I did make my feelings perfectly and politely clear prior to leaving with my vehicle with it's software anomaly still an anomaly!!!

Poor

Extremely disappointed with the service at BMW Eastern Edinburgh.

I brought my BMW in with very clear symptoms: misfires, rough idle, fuel smell and white smoke. I specifically asked for a full diagnostic of the coils, spark plugs and injectors, because the N53 engine is well-known for injector issues. Despite this, the injectors were never tested, and I was told the problem was only my coils and plugs.

I trusted their advice and paid almost £2,000 for repairs which turned out to be pointless. Within hours of collecting the car, the misfires returned exactly as before. No one contacted me back when I reported that the symptoms were still present.

On my second visit, a proper BMW test finally revealed what I suspected from the start — all six injectors are faulty, including old recalled versions that should have been identified on day one. The fact that they never performed the injector test I requested, and cannot provide any report from the first visit, speaks for itself.

The service advisor even acknowledged in writing that the first faults found were incorrect coding done by their own technician. Yet the service manager now denies any responsibility and claims everything was “done correctly”, offering nothing more than a small discount after almost £2,000 wasted and weeks of stress.

BMW UK confirmed they can’t overturn a decision because the centre is independently owned, so I now have to take this through The Motor Ombudsman due to the incorrect diagnosis and financial loss.

My car has been sitting with them for days without updates, and I’ve been left with a vehicle that is now in worse condition than when I first brought it in.

I’ve always trusted BMW, but this experience has been completely unprofessional and extremely frustrating. Please be very careful before booking your car in here — always request evidence of tests, reports, and second opinions. I would strongly advise others to avoid this dealership to prevent going through the same situation.

M235 2 Series Gran Coupe

There was a lack of communication from the confirmed purchase to the arrival of the car.
However, that was all forgotten about on my handover day, when I received first-class customer service from Sales Executive Ewan Swanson, who I could tell was very knowledgeable about my specific car of choice. I could not fault his professionalism and his wanting to make sure the handover experience was the best it could be. Which i can say it was, and I look forward to my next purchase from Ewan and Eastern BMW

I purchased an approved 2022 BMW M4…

I purchased an approved 2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive from Eastern BMW. I was happy with the car on test drive and the car was presented in excellent condition - I decided to proceed with the purchase. Collection was arranged for two weeks later. I was told that it was a busy hand over day and to be prompt for my arrival - I thought it was a bit to the point but fair enough if it was a busy day I thought.

Having arrived on time, at the agreed time, I then proceeded to wait 2 hours for the car to be ready. Not ideal but 'first world' problems I thought collecting a car costing nearly £60,000.

However I was unfortunately told that the white leather in the car had been marked as someone had decided to transport the new tyres the car required within the interior of the car. I was shown the mark and on further inspection, I discovered all seats were marked aside from the driver side.

I was reassured this would be fixed and I naively accepted the car and headed back home.

It wasn't until I did further research that I became aware tyre stains on leather are notorious for leaving stubborn stains that are extremely hard to remove. In most cases sanding the leather and repainting are the only way to repair the leather or replacing the leather covers.

The stains actually began to worsen as the tyre residue was soaked in further and you could clearly see parts of the Michelin branding on the leather!
Having been reassured these stains would be removed, I was now dubious of this reassurance no matter how well intended. I'd also had a passing remark by another salesman who mentioned leather stains made by tyres are very difficult to remove but at the time again I naively assumed the stains would come out.

There were many emails exchanged over days with assurance the detailer would be able to remove the stains and then a suggestion was made he was going to attempt to remove the stains with steam over several days.

I explained this is not something I should have to accept on what was a mint condition near £60,000 car. How could the dealer possibly assure me that any 'repair' would not damage the leather further or worse still damage appear further down the line out with any statutory warranty period - in which case it's very much now my problem.

In my initial emails I'd suggested the only repair I'd accept would be new leather covers for the seats. I was somewhat assured that the dealer was actively looking into this and I thought a solution had been found.

I was then told it was unreasonable for them to replace the leather at a cost of £4000. But it would be reasonable for someone to accept a potentially substandard repair on what should have been a mint condition car at hand over?

It was at this point that I decided to formally reject the car after mentioning that I might have to go down that path to the dealer. Interesting the dealer advised me that the 30 day rejection window only applied to new cars not approved used cars - which is completely incorrect. I'm not sure if this was a genuine mistake or an attempt at stalling me from rejecting the car. I'd assume the used sales manager would be aware of the regulations around 'faulty' goods in the consumer rights act.

It was only then that I was offered to have the leather replaced at cost to the dealership but by this stage I’d had enough and I didn’t want ‘their’ problem to become ‘my’ problem and I proceeded with rejection.

That wasn’t the end of things however as I’d arranged to pick the car up on a Friday and was assured that I’d have my refund made once the car was back at the dealer later that Friday afternoon or at the lastest Monday.

Well that didn’t go smoothly either. No refund on Friday, so I phoned on Monday to be told that the paperwork had been put in the wrong tray. I phoned again on Tuesday morning to be told someone would call me back and I did not receive a call back. I phoned again closer to lunch time to be told by someone else, the person I’d be told would phone me back wasn’t even in! The payment was finally made later on Tuesday after further chasing.

The whole experience was poor from start to finish. Not the level of experience I’d expected paying the most I’ve ever paid for a car and not the level of service I expected purchasing an ‘M’ car. The customer service manager for Eastern BMW/Mini who’d cc’d into the email chain didn’t even have the courtesy to send an email back acknowledging my email or apologising for the poor service – surely basic customer service there?

I've wasted so much time with emails, travel (circa 600 odd miles in total), cancelling insurance, changing insurance, car tax, not being able to drive the car once I’d rejected it and being without a car for a whole month trying to find a suitable replacement.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this dealership and interestingly the car does not seem to have reappeared for sale.

Purchased an approved used BMW M340i in…

Purchased an approved used BMW M340i in January 2025 at Eastern BMW branch. The car had to go back in May 2025 due to a steering column issue. Whilst at the garage they performed a vehicle health check, video included and print out of all the stats for wear and tear, tyres fluids etc etc. The I-drive system is now stating the car now needs another health check 3 months later, albeit along with a major service, which I have been advised will be around £90 in addition to £650 for the service itself. It is concerning that a used approved vehicle requires a health check somewhat 7 months after purchase, but the fact that another check of the vehicle was made only 3 months ago, it seems to be almost a money making opportunity by the dealership. BMW eastern have the usual robotic customer response of the computer says it has to have another health check whilst a service is performed, not happy at all.

Really bad customer service

I really don't like writing negative reviews, but this garage misdiganosed my car and charged me nearly £1000 for it. I took my car to another Mini garage who told me the work they've quoted me for doesn't need to be done. And when I complained to Mini head office, they said that they couldn't help as they'd not seen the car.

Personally I'd avoid as they do not seem to have much customer service and charge a lot more for work because they're an "official garage". Although Mini HQ confirmed they're a franchise.

Preferred Service Partner, I think not.

For the third time my car is dutifully delivered at 8.15am. No communication until 1pm to tell me car going into workshop in the afternoon. I respond back please warn me in good time if car isn’t going to be ready. 3pm SMS your car has just gone into workshop. Try to call and service department don’t answer phone. That’s without considering wanting to charge for diagnostics that the breakdown people have already done and passed code on for. Poor communication, poor experience, poor customer journey again. Three opportunities is enough.

Good customer service at Eastern BMW

Recently, I bought a car from Eastern BMW. A very good overall experience. The car-buying process was quick and smooth, and Nigel was very friendly and helpful. The car has had no issues so far. Will update the review if anything goes wrong in the future.

Poor Service

Paid deposit for a car, then price went up £4,000, was told that is the new price, stilling waiting 2 weeks later for my deposit refund. Not a great company to deal with. Very quick to deal with things when you are buying, don't want to know once you've gone.

I don't even have the right words for…

I don't even have the right words for the amazing service we received from Eastern BMW. We had the pleasure of dealing with Gurpage who seriously went above and beyond to get us the best deal! We were offered over £1000 more for our part exchange than any other garages we visited and there was a lot! The reception staff were great offering our 2 year old daughter juice, biscuits and ice cream. Because there was a vip event on I got a bag of macaroon and bottle of Prosecco. Even after the deal was signed Gurpage done extra just to make it that bit sweeter. Genuinely can't recommend this dealership enough and I can't speak for all the sales team but if they are anything like Gurpage then this is the place to buy your next car. Also these deals can't go through without managers approval so he clearly knows how to treat his customers also. Thank you so much to everyone!

Upped the price £2k!

Spend several hours going back and forth about a car. Agreed what was included, when it would be ready, what would be done to it etc. Was all set and ready to pay the deposit and the 'sales manager' decided to add another £2k to the asking price - blaming somebody else for an admin error. Either totally incompetent or dishonest - or both! A complete and utter waste of time and effort and a horrible example of poor management. I hate buying cars for this very reason. I dread to think how they behave once you've actually bought something from them. I'll never deal with this company again, not matter what car they may have.

Dealt with Dani from the mini side of their branch today. First time I have been on this side of the branch of Eastern BMW. Poor Customer Service

For the first time ever, I managed to get a reasonable deal from Eastern BMW. Unfortunately due to extraordinary circumstances (ie moving to the USA for 10 months) I had to cancel the order knowing that I would probably lose my £1000 deposit. Waited and waited for confirmation of receipt of cancellation. Acknowledged once I went onto their website and sent an email that way. Then told by the salesman (Daniel Runciman) it would have to be signed off by the Head of Business, I guess this is Ms Steel).still waiting 10 days later. Having worked in the Motor Industry at a Senior Level I am appalled by their lack of consumer duty (they probably haven't heard of this yet) but will know about TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) I'm sure that I'm not the first ever customer that has had to cancel an order, but they can be assured that they will never get any more business from me or anyone else that I know who has or is considering a BMW. go to Peter Vardy Edinburgh.
