How do I know that I am actually using what they are charging me for?

Complained to them because my In House Display was showing only half of the energy that we were actually using. They basically told me to shove off. Complained to OFGEM who said I had to go through the Ombudsman but that it was the duty of all energy suppliers to giver us accurate information regarding our energy usage. Passed this back to E-On who basically told me shove off again. Reported them to the Ombudsman who fined them £50 off my bill, a letter of apology (big deal) and I still ended up with a display which gave me inaccurate readings; despite what OFGEM say. How do I know that I am using what I pay for?
