About Drift

Written by the company

What is Drift?

Written by the company

Drift is a premium car air freshener subscription service rethinking the way car fragrance lives in modern spaces. Those little travel companions dangling from your rearview mirror? They’ve gone untouched by time. While automotive design has evolved into sleek, refined interiors, traditional car air fresheners have remained dated — both in design and ingredients.
Fragrance is personal. It’s emotional. It should reflect who you are and create a joy-inducing experience, free from questionable chemicals. We believe the scents that fill your car deserve the same intention as the space itself.
Drift creates long-lasting car fresheners using high-quality essential oil blends that are safe for children and pets. Our signature designs pair sustainably sourced alder wood and organic stone with clean, elevated fragrance to complement — not clutter — your interior.
Beyond the road, Drift also offers home fragrance solutions including scent diffusers, candles, and room sprays, extending your signature scent from car to home.
From car scent subscriptions to modern home fragrance, Drift is on a journey to create immersive atmospheres that harmonize with the open road — and with the spaces you live in every day.

Dishonest

Honestly, haven't even received the product yet but I'm pissed at the way they operate.
Bought one diffuser and one scent bottle to try it.
When I go to check on shipping, i realize that they signed me up for a subscription that took 10 steps to cancel.
Not a single email about said subscription and nothing in the buying process.
Sneaky, distasteful.

Let me start out by saying great product. They get a 1 star for reliability, accountability, and support. Signed up for a subscription, multiple times they didn't ship my order, had to contact them to get it fixed or on the way. Latest time, haven't received it and cant get a refund, stole money from me. No way to contact them except dumb ai chat or email which doesn't always get a response, or its an ignorant response. Great product however, too bad they can't get it together. Canceled sub.

I ordered the first kit off Amazon, but…

I ordered the first kit off Amazon, which thank goodness sounds like the way to go after reading the myriad of reviews all expressing the same frustrations about their subscription model and difficulty cancelling or not knowing they signed up in the first place.

The scent I purchased (Teak) was so insanely mild, I could barely smell it when I put my nose right up to it. I left a comment on a FB ad and to their credit, they almost immediately contacted me and offered to replace the scent, which arrived fairly quickly. However, it’s still so mild that it’s barely noticeable. This time I got “Open Air” and within the first two days, I can barely smell a difference or anything that would make me or any passengers notice that the car smells particularly good.

While, I can’t comment on the subscription problems so many others seem to have, after trying two of the wood blocks, I still ultimately feel like I paid $13+ for a wood block that looks nice. Is it me? Other than the subscription issues others are reporting, do I just have a lack of smell or something? Forgetting the subscription issues, are people actually saying the scents are noticeably good or giving off fragrance at all? I feel like I notice those cheap little trees more than I notice these, even though the little trees only last a few days.

My experience with customer service was actually great. Hence, the 3 stars but the product itself leaves much to be desired. They clearly need to fix this subscription issue people are having, but they also need to increase the potency of the product and not advertise that it lasts 30 days. It was barely noticeable out of the package twice with two different scents for me. It’s a shame because the concept and look are great, but the execution needs to seriously be tweaked.

The subscription is sneaky

The scents are good. However, my order was made into A Subscription, which I never wanted. All of a sudden I'm charged for another purchase, which feels sneaky wrong. Now that this happened, I will never order from Drift again. I simply want to place an order without being tricked into a subscription.

Just dont

The product, fine..whatever. But even if you choose a single one time purchase, they sign you up for a subscription without notifying you. You don’t receive a subscription confirmation via email nor a notification when your next subscription is about to be fulfilled. I got hit with a surprise billing and shipment at 2 AM.
Reached out to customer support about this issue. I got ghosted within 12 hours. Had to call my bank and have my card canceled just to avoid billing from them because you can’t delete your card information off their site. BS company with BS ethics.

Automatic subscription without consent

Product smells nice, especially like the plug-in. HOWEVER, I discovered that, while I only placed an order once, I was automatically enrolled in a subscription that I did not consent to. The cancellation process of that subscription is convoluted and confusing. I feel that this company is guilty of deceptive business practices, essentially doubling your order without your knowledge or consent.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service

I have no major complaints about the scents themselves, aside from the fact that the selection is somewhat limited. My biggest issue with Drift has been the customer service and the way they handle subscriptions.

I originally had an issue with my device leaking during a move, which eventually caused it to stop working. To be fair, Drift handled the replacement quickly and sent me a new device without much hassle. I returned the defective one as requested, so I had a positive experience with customer service at that point.

Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since then.

Drift has been revamping its website, and during this process, customers apparently lost the ability to manually skip subscription shipments the way we could previously. Because I don't go through the scents quickly, I don't need a refill every month. This means I've had to contact customer service **every single month** to skip my subscription. That was already inconvenient, especially with an extremely busy schedule, but I was willing to deal with it because I liked the product.

August 2026 was the last straw.

I contacted customer service to cancel my September shipment. They replied almost immediately saying they suddenly **couldn't locate my account**, despite the fact that I've been emailing them practically every month this year for the exact same reason. After that initial response, it took DAYS to get another response. I had to keep emailing them because I was trying to prevent the order from being shipped.

Eventually, the order was shipped anyway. Then, conveniently, I received a response telling me that because the order had already been fulfilled, there was nothing they could do.

I explained that this was not acceptable and specifically told them that I wanted my membership canceled. **They never responded.**

I finally had enough time to log into my account myself today, only to discover that my membership **had not been canceled at all.** I ended up canceling it manually myself.

That's an incredibly frustrating customer service experience.

I don't mind paying for products or premium services when a company treats its customers with respect, communicates clearly, and makes an effort to build a relationship with the people supporting its business. What I don't appreciate is feeling like I'm being treated as nothing more than another subscription payment.

It's especially disappointing because I genuinely liked the scents and wanted to continue being a customer. But good products don't make up for poor customer service, especially when the company makes it unnecessarily difficult to manage a subscription that **I am paying for.**

At this point, I would rather take my money elsewhere. It's a shame because I enjoyed the product, but I don't want to continue supporting a company that has made something as simple as skipping or canceling a subscription this difficult.

I canceled this subscription and they kept sending me the item.
After emailing they refused my return for refund.

The subscription is also pretty sneaky.

Honestly I liked the product but the service has been so awful I will never bother with this again.
Plenty of other products of the same quality

Scammers

I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription for months now but nothing will happen. They didn’t even send me my first package. Don’t waste your money.

Scamish

They will create subscription on your behalf without letting you know than. Charge you monthly. When you will ask for refund they will charge you for return shipping again even if you did it before they ship your “order”( in my case it took them a week to ship). Its a scam

Automatic Subscription

Purchased a car freshner. Thought it was a one off purchase as no subscription details were shown on order. On checking website they have enrolled me onto a monthly suscription.

You have to go through several options to cancel, even then I'm not sure its actually cancelled, or I will even get the item I purchased. Sneaky and dishonest marketing.

Billed FIVE times for ONE order!

I subscribed to Drift.co two months ago. The first two orders were fine, then this month they billed me FIVE times. That's over $80 for what should have been only $16. They are ignoring all my emails. This is outrageous.

I received 2 car air fresheners and put one in my car and one in my husband’s truck. The scent is so weak, can barely smell anything after 6 days. The company is very sneaky about tricking people into a subscription. I have written to Drift about my issues and trying to cancel the subscription I wasn’t aware I joined. Also, they don’t accept returns! Very disappointing experience.. do not buy.
