The7 theme : A WordPress theme that hides a subscription

I've been a Dream Theme customer for many years, and I've purchased more than 20 licenses for their flagship theme, The7, on Themeforest (Envato).
Since version 15 of the theme was released a few weeks ago, updates have been locked behind an exorbitantly priced subscription. They promise security updates for themes still on version 14, but all the features that were previously included (site templates, new features) are now only available with a subscription.

If I had wanted a theme that operated under this business model, I wouldn’t have turned to the themes offered on the Envato platform, which are known for being lifetime purchases. Envato remains very silent on the subject and has removed all the negative reviews posted by many dissatisfied users.

Worst of all: nowhere on Envato or the Dream-Theme website is it specified that you’ll need to subscribe to continue receiving theme updates. There’s just a simple mention of “1 year of updates” without any mention of the cost of future subscriptions.

These business practices are deplorable, and The7 is a theme that hides a “financial trap.” Don’t fall for it...
