Thank you for your review, Lee.
We are sorry that you are unhappy, however we feel it is important to clarify the full circumstances for accuracy.
You had purchased a second-hand external door and frame via Facebook Marketplace, which had already been poorly installed by yourself between your kitchen and utility room. You later requested that a fire door be fitted in this location, while retaining the existing frame.
At the quotation stage, you were clearly advised that the existing second-hand frame was not suitable and would normally need to be replaced. You specifically requested that the existing frame be retained to avoid disruption to plasterwork and flooring. We agreed to proceed only on the basis that no making good, frame repairs, or decoration were included, and this was fully explained and accepted by you before the work went ahead.
The installation cost of £200 covered fitting the fire door into the existing frame provided, and not remedial joinery works. Where an old screw had previously snapped in the frame, you were already aware of this prior to installation — no new damage was caused.
Owen is a highly experienced fitter who installs thousands of doors and is consistently highly regarded and recommended by customers. We do not believe the quality of his workmanship reflects the description given when fitting into a second-hand frame that was already compromised.
Following completion, you contacted Owen directly requesting £100 back, which we believe explains the nature of this complaint. Unfortunately, as the work carried out matched the agreed quotation and scope, we cannot agree to a refund.
We always aim to be transparent and honest about what is included, and regret that you remain dissatisfied, but we do not feel this review fairly represents the circumstances or the service provided.

Lee, thank you for your further comments.
We do need to correct a few points for clarity.
From the outset, fitting times, scope of works, and limitations were explained to you clearly. The door and frame supplied were second-hand and of external quality, fitted into an internal location, and this was discussed prior to the work proceeding. The job was priced, quoted, and accepted by you on this basis.
You advised us that the door and frame had been purchased via Facebook Marketplace. Whether the door originally came from a factory or a previous property, we cannot verify, however it is not typical for manufacturers to sell factory-fitted doors through Facebook Marketplace. Regardless, the condition of the door and frame at the time of installation was already compromised and outside our control.
With regard to fixings, snapped screws in older or reused frames are unfortunately a common risk, particularly where previous fixings or hard timber are present. Owen carried out the installation to the best possible standard given the constraints of the existing materials and circumstances.
Owen is an experienced fitter who has installed thousands of doors and is consistently well regarded. We do not accept that the issues described fairly represent his usual standard of work, especially when fitting into a second-hand frame that was not designed for this application.
That said, we have never refused to assist. As already stated, Owen would be happy to return to site to inspect and carry out any reasonable remedial work required to address concerns, something which remains available to you.
We always aim to be transparent and fair, and while we regret that you are unhappy, we do not believe this situation has been represented accurately.
