Can I just say from a renter’s prospective this is absolutely the worst piece of equipment anyone could ever install onto their home.

I was thinking of including the property management company whom does not allow me access to the security system. But…

I called set up set an appointment to view this beautiful spacious apartment in the heart of the Tenderloin area of San Francisco CA.

As I waited to be let into the building the first amenity that was pointed out was the DoorBird “top of the line” secured entry system. The security system is so advanced there’s no need for a doorman. Which was why the rent was also priced adequately. Convenience allowing guest in, with the push of app that can be installed onto any cellular device.

Move in time came and when it came to explaining how the entry system operated I was asked to download the app. Afterwords asked to handover my cellular device and 2 mins later. Told how to let people in.

My previous building used the butterfly system and I was impressed with the butterfly so I knew the security features a system like this can offer! And they’re amazing.

Until I realized , I wasn’t in control of my acct. I couldn’t just add the app to my tablet, computer or iPod! I also was blocked from History . Since I didn’t have history access or camera access to the from the intercom.

Instead of panicking I removed the app and went for a second install. And that’s when I realized It wasn’t my account I was using. So I called up the property management company and after I was told I could use a code for entry I said , See You Next Tuesday!

But I’m not upset with the property management company it’s the DoorBird that Im mad at, For Im a resident, and shouldn’t I be registered to this modern piece of electronic equipment. Which should also be pink to the police department? I’m not registered but my apartment number is.

Which has me thinking can anyone call the police dept or the DoorBird who has their name next to my address on any envelope just let in?

Considering I had the butterfly system and if your able to prove your identity with the SALTO your allowed remote entry. Because the home office can access any intercom device remotely. The SALTO over sees the butterfly. Making the butterfly secure unlike the DoorBird

But the DoorBird people referred me back to the person whom I just said See You Next Tuesday too.

I explained I had a tension with the property management company. Then Informed them it’s the history I was most concerned about not having access too. As well not getting an account of my own. Saying the DoorBird is being abused or misused and still nothing the DoorBird office could do for me.

So now I’m still here in danger. But what upsets me more then the property management abusing the DoorBird is not being registered by DoorBird. And DoorBird being aware of the property management not properly using there equipment.

AS THE RESIDENT, YOUR FORCED TO COMPLY EVEN IF YOUR CORRECT.
I can’t fight back nor am I allowing too.

And nothing more.

If they added SALTO to their DoorBird maybe someone at DoorBird would care for the residents who use their secured entry system . As opposed to assisting in a crime like package theft, or added work to the delivery people or making identity theft even easier.

I suggest don’t use the DOORBIRD or if your a resident think twice & ask if you can control your own DoorBird Acct.

Very bad customer support

Be aware that their "out of warranty" policy is very expensive.
I got a doorbird 2100 since 3 years. Since some weeks the keyboard stopped working. They first proposed to exchange the keyboard for 258 € but now they ask me more than 600€ to change the whole thing.

Just horrible customer service

Just horrible customer service, extremely unhelpful self-service FAQs and rude/ unresponsive cusotmer support agents. If anything, and I mean anything goes wrong, you are screwed. I had a simple issue of my wifi network changing and had to jump through so many hoops to get help. The system is poor designed to make it confusing for people to take simple tasks, and probably for the "dealers" to make a ton of money charging me $110 to come home to update my wifi settings. I wish my building would end this contract

An open ecosystem you should actively avoid

To start with the good points, it is a european company that offers PoE intercom systems that can easily be integrated into your smart home solution.

Now for the bad things. The hardware is literal trash, as soon as it becomes night you can see literally nothing on the camera. Additionally it frequently was unable to send me notifications making me miss deliveries. If you expect support, good luck with that, my email remains unanswered for almost a year now.

If the whole system was offered for a few bucks then this would be something to gloss over, but here we shelled out thousands of euros for something that could have been a cheap china shop order.

Abysmal camera quality and absolutely…

Abysmal camera quality and absolutely no support. App is even worse. Extremely bad sound quality with lots of distortions, impossible to clearly understand correspondant, even on a very high quality network connection. It's like a fancy brushed plate combined with low quality chinese electronics. a real rip off.

Simply Awful

Simply awful. Expensive waste of money. Recommended by, and installed by a professional. Absolutely agree with all the negative reviews on here. The app is so so so slow that deliveries have been lost as the driver leaves before we can open the gates. It also drops out frequently. The gates freeze open. Poor sound quality...I could go on. I really cannot persist with this any longer - there is so much better out there. Install DoorBird at your peril!

Give these a miss for now.

I agree with most of what has been said on this page. Door bell rings, it can take over a minute before you actually connect, and there are times when it doesn’t connect at all! DoorBird was recommended to me by an experienced installer. He had trouble connecting to wifi via by iPhone. He managed to do it via his Samsung then transferred info to my phone. For the amount of money this cost you would expect it to be top notch. It isn’t, nowhere near it. Avoid the system until DoorBird accept their product is poor and decide to update the connectivity.
DoorBird own this problem and fix it please!

Terrible system,wished I bought…

Terrible system,wished I bought something that works. This DoorBird fails on every level, doesn’t operate via key pad or phones and picture is black and white one minute and colour the next, you cannot hear what the person says into the intercom and they cannot hear you. Installer blamed my phone , an iPhone that was brand new, in 3 years the installer has been out around a dozen times, now he doesn’t even respond, I gave £3500 to have it installed and at 13 months old was told I need a new panel at £1600. Avoid like the plague.

Awful... simply does not work

Bought this in 2017 and I've never been happy. On WiFi it's slow and laggy. This means that by the time you get connected to the doorbird the person has gone and another missed delivery. On 4G its dreadful and far worse. If I do get to connect the Doorbird I can't heat the person at the Door and they can't hear me.

I was sent a replacement in 2020 and the replacement is no better.

This is a very expensive product ... ie over priced and doesn't deliver.

I'm taking it out as soon as I can get someone to install me an alternative which so far the options are a third of the cost of this pathetic product.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANY HOUSE THAT HAS ONE INSTALLED!

I purchased a home with this system installed and for the past 6 months have spent hours trying to have it reset with my credentials.

I’ve had to send notarized documents to Doorbird proving I bought the house and they still will not reset the system.

Save your time and money and buy a different system which allows easier transfers in case you sell or buy a property.

I spent over $1300 for a my Doorbird 2…

I spent over $1300 for a my Doorbird 2 years ago. Since buying every 4 months or so it will not work and have to call to have Doorbird reset. The. When you call Doorbird wait multiple times for 15 minutes on the phone goes to voicemail. Would never buy anything from Doorbird based solely on thier terrible customer service. Also if you purchase a product from them and decide to return they make you return back to Germany instead here in the states where you ordered from which cost a fortune in sending back. My security driveway gate monitor is different American made company installed same time not one time have I had an issue.

Ring to low (the app, not the doorbell)

The sound from the app on iOS is way too low, you just miss visitors. Nothing to do with IOS setup (I am a pro developer, tested all settings). Only putting the volume on your phone to max helps (but stupid). Serious flaw to an otherwise almost flawless and well build quality product.

Default reaction from development on this subject (I am not the only one complaining about this):

....they apperently they do not read......

"You can adjust the sound of your IP video door station in the app: Settings -> your device -> Expert Settings -> loudspeaker device. Please set the slider to 50-70%."
--> This is NOT the app volume but the doorstation, we need a louder ring on the phone from the app.

Good product, but missing calls makes it kind off missing the point.

Quality product

Quality product - purchased an electric gate entry system rather than the normal GSM system and very impressed! Fitted by a professional installer and it does a great job with an easy to use administration interface on my mobile - highly recommended!

A 1000+ EUR high end product with very bad QA and support

This product is very expensive and the build is supposed to be of very high quality. When you get the product it certainly have this feel, but QA is terrible. The first product I got had two errors. A connector had a terminal screw that was just turning over, and the front plate was slightly bend - but enough so you couldn't seal the case. I had a hard time explaining their support what the problem was, and the technical supporter also told that my front plate was an old model. So I also got an old design, though the new model was depicted on the web site when I ordered mine. I actually liked the new design better, and told that I expected to get the same model as they depict on the web site - not an outdated model. They agreed to send me a new product, but when it arrived it also had the front plate in the old design. Once again I had a very hard time explaining what was wrong, but we agreed that they could just send a new model front plate, and then I would mount it on the replacement product I just got. When I got the front plate, it was unfortunately once again the old model. I now had to explain for the 3rd time what the problem was and wrote them again. I never got an answer back, and had sort of given up on them. I then pushed once more for an answer, though without getting any response. Around 2 weeks later, I suddenly got a package from them, and I assumed they just sent the new model front plate this time, so I collected the package, and to my surprise it was actually the new model - great. Well, now you would think the story is over, but as I started to mount the new plate, I realized it wasn't finished. All the cut outs in the front plate were in an unfinished state, where they forgot to grind them down. This means that edges on the buttons are quite sharp and very unpleasant - besides they didn't send sealings for the buttons as well. So unfortunately I'm back where I was 9 months ago and have now given up on them.
