Great communication each step of the…

Great communication each step of the way. If I´m really honest I would have liked the process to have been quicker in receiving the certificate but, I believe the Dominican Republic system is slow!
Thank you

Daryl, thanks we're very grateful for your comments.

I'm not clear as to whether your comments regarding the speed of things above refers to the fact that these marriage records are not available online, or whether it was more to do with shipping. You chose delivery via certified international airmail which generally takes between 2 and 5 weeks. We also offered you for a supplement the option to have your documents shipped via DHL which takes generally only 3 to 5 working days to arrive.

In any case, I am happy that you are a satisfied client.

Regards

Steve

This is a scam

This is a scam - they literally just called me a conspiracy theorist b/c I was was questioning why their address was an apartment. Dead give away. Hey trustpilot employees - reach out to me if you'd like proof and a screenshot of the ridiculous conversation I just had with this scammer. I work for TripAdvisor. Thanks

I shall save the reviewer the trouble, and have posted at the end of my comments, a copy of my “ridiculous” chat with her.

I feel I was restrained in my comments, having been told 3 times in the chat that I was operating some type of operation to hoodwink people, in spite of the fact that I referred the reviewer to our TrustPilot page, and to the Dominican embassy in the UK, for references.

Instead of accusing me and my company of operating dishonorably, perhaps this poster could have taken the time to contact any of other 100+ other reviewers on TrustPilot who, unlike her, are actually customers who have us paid to:

• Obtain all types of Dominican certificates
• Search for their old divorce decrees from the 1970s etc
• Register the death of their family members
• Obtain autopsy reports of their family members
• Locate their biological parents in the Dominican Republic
• Investigate cases of suspected bigamy
• Verify whether Dominican documents presented to the authorities in overseas jurisdictions are genuine or fakes
• Locate lost loved-ones
• Run errands to their nations’ embassies in Santo Domingo.

In the chat the reviewer also appeared to question whether the TrustPilot reviews are “made up”, while at the same time volunteering the information that she works for TripAdvisor.

I’m sure the reviewer will be most impressed to learn that our sister company Cocotours, also owned by me, which has been in operation for 24 years in the Dominican Republic, was inducted into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame in May 2018, having won 6 consecutive TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence! So, we do know something about customer service.

In conclusion, I regret having taken time out from a family vacation in Italy, to respond to this enquirer’s query.

I hope that anyone taking the time to read this will weigh up all the other reviews and make their own mind up as to what type of company we are.

Regards

Steven McQueen

Meg: Help with Dominican documents!

Steve: Hi there

Meg: Please let me know how much you charge. I need the ORIGINAL marriage certificate from the DR mailed to me

Steve: Total would come to US$210 comma where we work in two stages. The first stage is the search stage and for that we charge US dollars 95 comma and then once we found your record we send you a copy for you to check for mistakes, because Dominican civil records have lots of spelling mistakes especially when non-Hispanic names are involved

Meg: I have copy of it

Steve: And then for the actual certificate we charge another $115 and that includes the legalisation it includes the stamp and it also include shipping

Meg: <Media omitted>

Steve: From which date is the copy that you have?

Meg: I just need the original of that

Meg: <Media omitted>

Steve: Yes, what you sent me is a type of certificate called the next Direct period we send the certificates of a type called long form, which is the type that governments, courts, lawyers etc prefer

Meg: They are ok to accept this one - they just need the original

Steve: Since you have a recent copy, we would only charge the US dollars 115 for the actual certificate, with no need for the search

Meg: how long would it take for you to get it to me?

Steve: This is our order page which explains the charges. And has an order form: http://dominicancertificates.com/dominican-certificates/dominican-marriage-certificate/order-a-dominican-marriage-certificate

Meg: how long would it take for you to get it to me? How do I know this is not a scam?

Steve: We would be able to ship it at the beginning of next week, the postage which included takes between 2 and 4 weeks to arrive comma or if you'd like to pay a $95 supplement we can send it by DHL at the beginning of next week, and that's for the certificate with all the relevant stamps and seals that you need

Steve: Please visit the following link for over 100 testimonials from our clients: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/dominicancertificates.com

Meg: ....those could be made up....

Meg: and your address is an apartment?

Steve: And how do I know that you are not a scam?

Steve: If you are interested in ordering, please proceed to do so from our website

Meg: ummmmm....well, you'd be getting $ from me, so not sure how I would be scamming you

Meg: can you ensure it'd be signed in colored ink? The court HAS the original and they think it's a copy

Meg: hello:

Meg: And I see no form, so, I will assume this is a scam

Steve: Contact the Dominican embassy of you think we are a scam

Steve: Contact Trust Pilot which is a totally independent organisation which does not accept applications from non existing companies

Steve: There is most definitely an order form on the page which I sent to you.

Steve: What's your email address? I'll send you the link to it.

Steve: Also, we only accept payment via PayPal which is a champion for consumer protection.

Steve: Contact the Dominican embassy in London, UK. Tell them you need a certificate, and ask them who they'd recommend.

Steve: You must be one of these conspiracy theorists who believe that Neil Armstrong didn't walk on the moon, and that 9/11 was an inside CIA job, no doubt

Meg: I am taking a screenshot of this conversation and posting it on the trustpilot site. What a way to do business, scammer

Steve: Thanks

I needed to have a copy of my marriage…

I needed to have a copy of my marriage cerificate from the DR sent to me and translated from Spanish to English. After a small confusion, I received my documents as ordered. The gentleman I dealt with was very pleasant and accomodating. I would reccomend using this company if you are in need of their services.

The best in the business!

Steve is amazing! He kept me informed at every step. He was able to obtain my fathers’s birth certificate with just an old copy of his baptism record. In the process he helped me find a long lost sister! He is very knowledgeable, thorough and informative. Very highly recommended!

Impressive Service

We were really impressed by the care and attention we received from Steve and his team at the Dominican Certification Service. If you need replacement documents from the Dominican Republic, these are the people to get them for you. They provide a service which is not available through Dominican Embassies or Consulates. We don't know how we would have managed to get a replacement marriage certificate without their help.

Ok I admit

Ok I admit, I was hesitant in paying up front first in searching for my father's death certificate, I didn't trust this site at all, but when Mr. McQueen found the draft copy of my father's death certificate, I was in shock, he then gave me options and fees so he can ship me the certificate, I saved and printed my draft copy until I would order the actual certificate, thanks again.

I used the service to pay for a marriage cert.

I used the service to pay for a marriage cert, the cert arrived with my wife's name spelt wrong, although I had checked the extract, and confirmed all details correct, on returning to saved email, the attachment is no longer available on the email for me to double check. I have since found my original documents with all details, wife name included all spelt correctly. My options were to purchase another cert, which is now not necessary. Reason for my review, is more to do with being advised to get a lawyer, followed up by a phone and informed that all Dominicans are illiterate, I found this sweeping statement, almost as disgusting as being told to get a lawyer.

This client’s version does not bear full resemblance to the reality of events:

20 Nov 2017 – Mr Barrett paid US$95 for us to search for his marriage record. We located the handwritten record in the marriage ledger, we had the registry office staff enter the record into their database, because nowadays all certificates are issued from the same electronic database.

23 Nov 2017 - When I sent the client a draft print-out with a request that he peruse the document for errors, I commented that I’d noticed his nationality was listed as Dominican even though I believed him to be from the UK. I had his nationality corrected in the record to United Kingdom. Mr Barrett made no reference to any additional errors. On the contrary, Mr Barrett paid us US$115 for the marriage certificate which included its legalisation, apostille and shipping.

30 Nov 2017 – We shipped the certificate.

28 Dec 2017 – On receiving his original certificate in the mail, Mr Barrett belatedly noticed that his wife’s name JULIE had been misspelled as SULIE. This was not the first time Mr Barrett had seen this misspelling. The same error was in the original draft print-out which we had sent him on 23rd November, but Mr Barrett had not noticed the error at that time.

08 Jan 2018 – I informed Mr Barrett that I’d checked at the registry office and that his wife’s name had indeed been spelled correctly in the marriage ledgers which Mr Barrett and his bride had signed on their wedding day. I was able to have the error corrected, and informed Mr Barrett that if he now wished to order any additional certificate, his wife’s name would appear correctly.

15 Jan 2018 – Mr Barrett wrote asking me “I do want to chance my arm, what I (sic) know need is a translated copy?, is (sic) their any way the cost of the replacement (with wrong spelling) can be offset against a translated copy?” I replied that if Mr Barrett now wished to pay for a new certificate, I would send him a free translation. My gesture was more than generous since the mistake had been made by the registry office, and had not been noticed by Mr Barrett in spite of my asking him to check for mistakes at the time. Furthermore, contrary to his comments below, during my telephone call that day with him, I did not inform Mr Barrett that “all Dominicans” were “illiterate”. Nor did I tell Mr Barrett to get a lawyer, I was only offering to explain the situation in the event that Mr Barrett had a lawyer [over 80% of our clients order their marriage certificates at the beginning of divorce proceedings]. Mr Barrett accused me over the phone of somehow retroactively deleting from his computer the attachment I’d sent him on 23rd Nov with the wrong spelling in his wife’s name, saying that whilst he now still had my email, it did not contain an attachment!

In conclusion, there would have been no problems if the client had noticed the misspelling of his wife’s name when he was asked to check for mistakes. We implemented this 2-stage process for ordering certificates specifically to give our customers the opportunity to check for mistakes, so that when they finally receive their certificate, there are no surprises. Finally, I believe that the rest of our customers’ comments on this site more accurately reflect the outstanding service we provide. S McQueen
