A Monopoly With No Incentive to Improve
When our pups were 7 weeks old we decided to advertise in preparation to them becoming 8 weeks old. However it tooks us nearly two weeks to become a verified seller with Dogs.ie. The process is long and tedious and the ad, once published doesnt allow you to change basic information, such as the description or phone number. How stupid.
Unfortunately Dogs.ie are one of the only websites available in Ireland to advertise dogs on, as such they can have terrible user experience and people will continue to use. Donedeal.ie when dogs were allowed on it was far superior.
Wouldn't reccomend anyone using dogs.ie, if possible sell through friends or family.
The entire process is long, tedious, and needlessly frustrating, making it far harder than it should be to publish a simple advert.

Hi Owen,
I believe we've found your ad, and our support ticket. If you check back you will see that the issue was caused by your vet entering the date of birth information incorrectly. This was not a delay by dogs.ie. It's important that the correct details are entered into the registry by your vet.
Alternatives : A simple Google will show you 5 or more other websites where you can advertise dogs for sale in Ireland. Truth be told we are the most popular one, but there are alternatives.
Editing Ads: Ads are locked when published, due to people changing their ads to sell multiple different type of dogs in the same ad. If you need anything changed in your ad you can email support@dogs.ie to get it updated.
There are many laws surrounding the selling of dogs in Ireland; they are in place to protect the animals, breeders, and buyers alike. While this can sometimes result in delays or additional steps, these requirements exist to reduce illegal sales, improve traceability, and protect animal welfare. We appreciate that this process can feel frustrating, especially for first-time sellers, but we believe the safeguards ultimately benefit everyone involved.
We are always happy to help guide sellers through the process and resolve issues quickly once we have the relevant details. If you would like us to review your specific case, please get in touch directly and we will be glad to assist.
