We had visited the Dog and Duck on many…
We had visited the Dog and Duck on many occasions before. This was our first visit under new ownership. It is clear to see that the owners have laid out a hefty sum of money to totally refurb the place. Before it was quirky, it even had a full sized Marylin Monro to great you as you entered the Loo's LOL and a beautiful Piano. But now everywhere is clean and sharp and it also has a lovely covered outside eating and drinking area too.
Out of 7 of us, including 2 children the food was moderately priced and superb, we had no complaints whatsoever. (Speed of Service was acceptable).
The Full Rack of Ribs is a must for meat eaters and there was a good selection for people with different requirements. Also nice were the Meat Balls, starter, unusually like pulled pork in a breaded coating, really nice. The sharing Nachos platter was well presented and plenty of it too. The Children shared a Pizza and finished the lot.
Drinks, a tad expensive, but you are in a restaurant... Over £5.00 for a pint of Guinness. A reasonable bottle of wine was £20.00
The staff were polite and attentive.
So I hope can see this is a good review before I state my only negative of the evening.
We did feel that as soon as we had finished coffees and last drinks there was an urgency to get us out of the venue even though it was only 10.20pm on a Saturday, maybe the approach could have been..."Hope you have enjoyed your evening, whilst we are starting to clear up in here you are welcome to stay of course or move to the bar area, where we are serving drinks until ??PM". That way one wouldn't feel like as soon as you have done please leave.
I am still giving the 5* review because other than the last point, the evening was perfect.
I am in business myself and I am sure the owners would prefer to see good solid reviews with sensible constructive criticism. I am also sure if they see this they will change the finishing off procedures.
Would we go again, definitely!!
