I cancelled direct tv today
I cancelled direct tv today. They were super high pressure. She even said she did not want cancellation to cause a divorce. What the 🤬kind of psychological 🐂 💩!!! She also said that I will get equipment instructions after Feb 28th just incase it causes problems at home.

Long time and Very Disappointed Customer
It started with requesting a system update. A technician said it needed to be done. I've been a customer for over 30 years and being told I'm on a 2-year contract is absolutely absurd! Next we received the box and I called a technician to get help setting it up and they had no clue. A technician came the next day and have to change so many things that the tech has no idea even though she had everything in front of her on what we already had. Technician that came to my house was Great. Technician on the phone needs a new job.

I ordered DirecTV streaming after a telephone call with one of the representatives. I had very good previous experience with DirecTV en three different countries (the one with the satellite dish). And based on that experience and a talk I had with a DirecTV’s representative who told me about that DirecTV offered me to watch all the Spanish La Liga and Champions league for $74.99/month. My surprise was that DirecTV only transmitted some of the games of the La Liga tournament. I asked specifically if DirecTV transmit all the 380 games of La Liga and the answer was "yes". 6 months after I decided to cancel the subscription, and surprisingly they charged me $340 as an early cancellation fee. There was a clause when I accepted the contract about this, but the DirecTV’s salesperson lie to me and did not mention the Early Cancellation fee of $20 per month for the 17 months. They do not mention it but they make sure it is written in small foot prints in an email. Additionally, the application needed to be restarted every week or so. I do not recommend DirecTV. Now I have got all the soccer I want to see for just $11/month. At the end I was charged not $340.00 but $384 without any explanation.
Directv Stream Beta Sports RIPOFF
Avoid Beta Sports stream package. You DO NOT get any local channels even if you are in their broadcast area. When contacted, they immediately tell you that you have to upgrade to "Choice" which is twice the price. It's basically a big corporate scam. Their interface "your remote" DOES NOT WORK on their stream like all of the other streaming services - even if your smart tv is new. THE BIGGEST BIG CORPORATE RIPOFF I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED.
Wheres the movie, that's what we want not ads
What is wrong is this company is supposed to be about watching movies not ads. Nobody wants to see the ads that they post we want to watch a movie. No matter what movie you click on you have to watch not just one or two you don't want to watch but like 8 ads you don't want to watch by the time those are done you don't even feel like watching the movie. I will be getting rid of direct tv and I'm sure everyone else will too. If direct tv wants to put other company's and giving them what they want over the customers paying hard earned money wanting to watch movies then they will loose customers one after another, but I guess direct tv will still have the company's that post ads left.

If you are canceling DirecTV, make sure you get a ticket number or a number to verify your request. I canceled but had autopay, they pulled another payment and said they had no documentation that I had canceled. I spent over 40 minutes on the phone with this associate and she didn't put in my request. They will take your money... THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!!
High cost, reducing packages, poor service
Direct TV messed up our automatic billing (our credit card company verified you ended wrong information) and shut off our TV - YOUR MISTAKE. You charged us late fees and other BS fees - DUE TO YOUR MISTAKE. We had to wait on the phone for over 8 minutes to talk to someone due to YOUR MISTAKE. When the represenratative said he would fix it, he said he would not send us any written communication to verify what he said.

The new customer interface is extremely difficult to navigate and so inefficient. I don’t know whose idea this was, but it certainly wasn’t something designed to help ease the use for customers. many more clicks to get to where you want too much navigation …. instead of improvement. When you go to the library, you can see a recorded show and several episodes but you cannot click there to see the additional episodes and play one.
you have to go to another screen to do that so inefficient!!
No More Abuse
We have been Directv owners since their beginning. After 30 years, we will finally admit that the company is awful. It didn't start that way, we believe that when AT &T took over it went downhill fast. 1. Customer service is routed through India? 2. Our prices have gone up 72% in 9 months WITH a decrease in channels. 3. We asked for the smallest cheapest package as we are seniors on a fixed income-was given the case #, and after 3 months the price did not drop but increased! When we called and gave case #, the fellow from India said it didn't exist! He told us if we were new members, we could get that price but because we have been such long term members-NO.

Beware, They have BIG early termination fees for early cancelation of streaming service. Still on the old satellite/cable deception tactics.
Stay away from DirecTV and AT&T
Signed up with ATT/DirecTV about 8 months ago, and have had more problems/issues in those 8 months than I had in 25 years with Spectrum. Every time I call customer service, they give me a temporary solution that only works for a few days, and then I have to call again. They won't send anyone to fix the issues, so I'm stuck in a 2 year contract (that they didn't mention when I signed up) with terrible TV and service.

I signed up for a new Directv account which was installed 2/4/2025 and was promised a price for the CHOICE package of $117.98. I have a satillite dish and 2 TV's. My Genie Mini is wireless because the Tech told me he cannot install a wired Mini because it's inaccessable. I received my first bill by mail charging me an extra $99 plus tax for a total of $108.19 that will be autodebited along with my first monthly charge totaling $226.17. Called CS and got a non English speaking Rep with terrible background noise who even went to his "Supervisor" and told me there is a $99 charge to "install" the Genie Mini. Nowhere on Dirctv's website nor did the Tech who came to my house say anything about a $99 mini charge. This is blatant deceptive marketing practice.
TOTAL LACK OF DTV CUSTOMER RELATIONS TO A MAJOR PROBLEM
I spoke with a customer retention operative who told me two things. The first was DTV is not offering any discounts to a 30 year subscriber except for $20 a month. It was $50 a month. But more importantly I told the operative that DTV was send me weekly emails telling me of what new services are being offered by DTV including Hulu, Disney and Netflix.
She said these streaming services are not offered and the email offers are likely to be a product of fraud. I told her this means the entire customer base had been hacked in order for these emails to be sent out. She said their fraud department was unaware of this, which basically means all of the customer data is now open for review including names, addresses, emails, phone numbers and, far more importantly, or credit card number being used for auto pay. This is a serious hack yet Susie, the DTV operative, seemed uninterested in this disclosure and denied it happened. She asked me to prove it too. This is totally uunacceptable IMO
Horrible
Horrible. Took out a 14 day trial, and, after daily issues with dropped signals, outages, constant rebooting, etc, I canceled before the end of the trial period. Returned all the equipment in accordance with their instructions even before the end of the trial period. 6 weeks later they billed me $400 for unreturned equipment. After I called, complained, got angry, they told me they would "probably find everything within a couple months." If they did, they would refund the charges. LOL. What a way to run a business! Avoid at all cost.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever, even worse than Flow internet. They never answer the phone or email. Had to finally block a service tech van with my car and force him to take back the cable box. Then go to my bank and force a payment stop. You can find much better tv on the island just using streaming apps. This company should be ashamed.

Hello. I need assistance. I am extremely frustrated. I have called Loyalty and done multiple chats with billing. No one has helped me. Every month my bill goes up. I can't not afford that. I work two jobs to get by. I need my current bill to be no more than $140 including all taxes and fees. I have been a DirecTV customer for many years. The monthly increases and having to contact them each month is frustrating and ridiculous. There should be a yearly rate and that price should not change monthly like it does.

When I signed up there were no promo's or discounts, it was about $140 a month just for basic channels. Now that I want to cancel they tell me I had a discount and agreed to be signed up for 24 months?! No. I never agreed to 24 months and if $140 a month is a discount? Come on! That doesn't even make sense when it wont cost them anything for me to cancel. I definitely will never go back to this company for anything! Hope that $300 was worth it!
