Bad customer service

First time I have ever purchased a item from DickSmith online. ( never again ) if you need to return something it is near impossible they put to many obstacles in your way and impose return charges in the end I have gave up
The worst customer services I have ever had to deal with.

Deceptive listing and safety hazard

Deceptive listing and safety hazard – Poor quality from "The Shopsite" via D ick Smith

Extremely disappointed with my purchase through D ick Smith. The product (dispatched by 'The Shopsite') is NOT local stock—it arrived directly from China with Chinese shipping labels.

It released a nauseating, toxic chemical stench, causing personal physical discomfort.

Despite being described as heavy duty, the mounting board is actually cheap and fragile plywood that arrived already cracked.

It is also not foldable as advertised.

The build quality is entirely unsafe for marine use and potentially hazardous to health. I have refused to return the item as I am keeping it as physical proof to reserve my rights and for potential referral to consumer protection authorities.

D ick Smith needs to vet their third-party sellers better. Do not let greed blind your business ethics and compromise the safety of New Zealand locals. Avoid this product and this seller at all costs.

DickSmit NZ

Extremely disappointed with DickSmith NZ.
I purchased a phone in NZ that developed a fault during normal use. Local repair confirmed parts cannot be sourced in NZ or Australia. Instead of resolving the issue locally, I have been told to return it to Australia.
After extensive back-and-forth and significant delay, there is still no clear resolution. This phone is essential for my daily life and work.
Under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act, consumers should not face unreasonable delay or inconvenience when seeking a remedy. I am still waiting for this to be handled properly.

Terrible after service...beware.

I bought a Logan stick vacuum from them. Took a long time to arrive, but at first worked well...after a few weeks began to switch off after 5 secs
...then it began to dump dust on floor
I have contacted customer service 5 times...get generic email, saying they will be in touch.....nearly a month and have not heard from them. I thought being dicksmith was a reputable company....but they have no integrity. Better off buying temu...they quickly solve problems!! Will never buy from dicksmith again!!!!

Don’t use DSMITH or Kogan

So I pulled my last review after Kogan wrote and said they would like to help.
Now , the 4 th email asking for help is still not responded to .
Apart from the paste below. This was in response to a ESCALATION by dicksmith /Kogan.
They’ve gone down the drain. I have received 15 marketing emails trying to get me to waste more money but NO SERVICE !! I’m stuck with a product that doesn’t work in my camera and have been emailing these scammers for 5 weeks !!
This response was the 9 th of January.!!
Simple advice DONT BUY FROM KOGAN OR DSMITH UNLESS YOU ARE 100% the product is EXACTLY what you want. They have proven to have NO INTEREST in helping repeat customers if it means sending a product back.
And here’s the lasted response 5 working days ago :

D Smith advertised black and decker…

D Smith advertised black and decker battery, I bought it online and was told it was on the way, the next day i got an email to say it was no longer in stock and a refund was offered, after 3 more emails they finally understood 'yes - refund please'. I then realized I'd somehow gone through Koogan too - who had signed me up for some kind of paid trial where they wanted to auto charge me for sending me emails?? I cancelled but didn't receive confirmation of this, will have to keep an eye on it i guess. Avoid like the plague!!!

Dicksmith was sold to China long ago

Dicksmith was sold to China a long time ago that's why their stores closed and now they're using online websites for customers to make purchases because their products are made in China and sent from China. It's not the same owners or the same store that you used to know. It isn't rocket science people. The rating reviews on their website are probably fake.

service is not reliable at all and very confusing, everything looks like a scam, I suppose to have an option online to cancel my order online immediately, but website manage to take me in a circle makes it very difficult to correct a mistake or cancel order immediately as you mentioned on your page, very stressful experience where I had to spend hours trying to contact anyone for a very simple task no way to get hold of anyone

How absolutely dissatisfied I am with these guys. Bought a ice maker machine, it leaks like a sieve and has ruined my table that it was sitting on even though I put something underneath it. After numerous attempts to contact them all sorts of different ways no reply. I won't buy from them again and just beware they are not worth your money. 😡😡

I ordered Apple AirPod pro 2

I ordered Apple AirPod pro 2. I was surprised that DickSmith sent it directly from Australia. The genuine Apple box was damaged at every corner. They had no additional packaging, just a plastic bag. The once white box was discoloured. One of the seals underneath the box had been deliberately broken.
This was meant to be a present for my daughter. I couldn’t use this as a present for anyone. It arrived after 10 days and I didn’t have much time before Christmas so I had to buy directly from Apple and demand a full refund from DickSmith, DickSmith can’t be contacted unless it’s online where you send them a message and then wait. Days later I’m still waiting for a response. Will probably have two pairs in the house when Christmas comes next week. Avoid this shop. I’m deleting my account

Never again - pay and nothing arrives

Ordered a product from DS online, got a note its been dispatched, no sign of it 2 weeks later. Every time I check it says waiting for forwarder to update check back later. Been saying that for 2 weeks. Chat bot on Trackacy just says they'll let customer service know and then ignores me.

Disingenuous and Slimy- AVOID

I loved shopping at Dicksmith as a kid. Their online platform however I cannot recommend. They are NOT safe to buy through. They are disingenuous and for lack of a better word- slimy. It took me 30minutes to cancel their membership, which renewed without consent after receiving a black font on black background email. Purchases? Took two clicks within 1second without confirmation of card details. I am still waiting a month later for a refund after receiving a falsely advertised product over $300. DO NOT BUY THROUGH DICKSMITH

ZERO stars would be more accurate!

Absolutely SHOCKING experience. The photos of the product and the description were actually completely different to the product. What I got was NOT what was advertised for $50, it was probably worth less than $5. It took me ages to actually make contact with their customer service & once I did, they only offered a full refund if I returned the product to China (at my cost of $80!); otherwise I could keep it and receive a 60% refund - THIS is how they make their money folks!!

Stay away!!!

Unfortunately never received a response when I contacted customer service regarding faulty product. Absolutely terrible. Id give zero stars if I could.
They sent me a link to review the product i purchased, and it conveniently said it had a problem submitting my 1 star review each time I tried.....

purchased  rowing machine that was on trial for 14 days and FREE SHIPPING,they wanted  my bank details which was fine. I changed my mind and decided on another one,this one didn't have free shipping and i questioned why not but the customer rep called Imelda didn't give me a clear answer. I was sent a cutomer review which i filled out and gave a 1 , DS is owned by Kogan.com told they would get back to me but they never did,DS  use to be great before Kogan.com along

Poor quality product- cant get refund

Purchased a weight bench it was rated at 300kg broke first use at less that half that - near impossible to contact DS infinite loop of emails and waiting no ability to phone which would probably sort issue - the seller “Shopsite” does not appear to be a company no details or contact online no way to deal with the issue - use DS at your peril ive lost money and the product quality was far worse than Temu and just not safe
