Rip off company - DDO NOT USE
I hired a vehicle through doyouspain.com with this company, never again will I use these or doyouspain for that matter.
We arrived at 23.30 at Alicante airport and was transferred to Dickmanns site.
I had already purchased excess insurance with Allianz so did not need there own insurance ( they use Allianz as well ).
Because you do not take there insurance they require a £950 holding deposit on your credit card, which I tried to give but unfortunately my credit card chip had a fault. I called my bank who said the card was not faulty so I asked the reception man to try another card terminal which he refused to do. I then asked him to type the credit card number in manually, again he refused.
I had to use my debit card to pay, but had to buy there insurance (Allianz) at a cost of €170 plus a fuel holding charge of €109 as I'd hired the car on a full/full basis.
There was also more damage on the car upon my inspection than they had on the collection sheet.
On returning the car with a full tank of fuel and no extra damage, they would not immediately reimburse my debit card with the €109 as they said it's done automatically. I'm still waiting for the money!
The customer service from this company is non existent, they rip you off, they give you damaged, dirty vehicles, and don't refund any money owed.

Aggressive sales, excessive excess charges and very poor refunds (still not received after 4 days) even though told within 24hours. Phone numbers always cut you off and absolutely NO customer service.

Both myself and my Mum are still waiting for our €950 euro deposit back from 2 separate rentals. One in June and one in August.
Now 40 working days on. Has anyone else got their money returned recently? Many e-mails and phone calls and they say yes it is being processed but no money returned!

Untrustful company
Rude staff and aggressively force people to buy their full insurance. We would like to have an option with excess of €950 from credit card the but stuff were aggressively scared us that they would not return whole amount of €950 of excess even if there will be just a little dent on the car. When we asked the stuff to provide us with terms and conditions for option with €950 excess they refused it. Also they charge for full fuel tank €98 but if you take an option with excess they refund only €64 even you return car with full tank and keep €34 for unclear service fee. Avoid this untrustful company.
The worst renting company I met in 20 years of renting cars
1. No info in the airport and no representative
2. The price for rent increased dramatically in the office. Instead of EUR 200 my card was charged with more EUR 1,330 of which only EUR 950 was a deposit.
3. Full to Full gasoline scheme was changed to Full to Empty without my consent and I was charged with EUR 109 per 60 liters of diesel (normally - EUR 65).
4. The Citroen 4 that I received had NO SINGLE NOT damaged element of the body. There were not only scratches, but serious defects. The driver's seat was damaged with cigarettes.
5. luckily I made pictures of all those damages and put them in the transfer act. When the car was returned the manager started arguing that those damages were done by me and disappeared when he was shown the pictures.
6. The deposit is not yet refunded ( almost 3 weeks passed) and with item 5 above I am really concerned with this.
7. Instead of returning deposit my card was now charged for EUR 50 more without any explanation. I opened the dispute regarding this in my bank.
Avoid this company by all means.

contacting the Police?
Just experiencing same story myself re refund when returning car last week on 1st September.No response to emails to date or reimbursement.
Has anyone to date reported this to the Spanish Police as a crime or is that unlikely to help resolve the situation? I intend to do so if reimbursement is not forthcoming in coming days.

Sólo experimentando misma historia yo volver a reembolso cuando vuelva coche la semana pasada en 1 September.No respuesta a mensajes de correo electrónico a fecha o reembolso.
¿Nadie hasta la fecha denunció esto a la policía española como un delito o es poco probable ayudar a resolver la situación? Voy a hacerlo si el reembolso no es inminente en los próximos días.

30+ days later and they have still not refunded my €1048 deposit.

I have contacted my credit card company and raised a dispute.
Also I have contacted OMIC (Spain’s consumer information office) who are apparently investigating them.
Best way to stop these scam artists is to not use them so that they go out of business.
Check when hiring who you are renting with. If you are already booked with Dickmanns - change now!!!

Still waiting for 900+ deposit also - returned the car on the 19th, no response to emails . Why they try to keep your money for 28 days I don't know - the guy told me it would come back automatically - obviously not - do not use !! I know they are cheap but this is why - they earn interest on everyone's money for a month !!

I wouldn't even give this Company one star rating, they are SCAM ARTISTS. We returned from Spain 17th July and it's now 30th August and no sign of 900 + Euros deposit. As usual we take out our own full car insurance in England and hand over details to the car companies, these SCAMMERS insisted on taking the 900+ Euros in full on 1st July (day landed) on 19th we returned the car, they checked over fully and confirmed we would receive our full deposit back within in 28 days. NO RESPONSE from emails, so I am trying to get the money back on behalf of my husband. I use Trust Pilot and lots and lots of other review sites and always leave feedback. I will therefore ensure that this SCAM Company are well and truly outed.

Shocking company..Do not use!
Wish we'd looked at the similar reviews regarding the hiring of vehicles from Dickmann's before we went on holiday this year.
Booked ours through Do You Spain who kindly gave us an option to book 'Premium' Insurance for 83,30 euros. We booked the car and the insurance thinking it was all sorted.
On arrival at the Alicante office of Dickmann's we were told in a very rude manner we had to pay £268.53 for their insurance as the Do You Spain one we'd bought wasn't recognised by them!
If Do You Spain are selling the insurance and they know Dickmann's are refusing to accept it then they are crooks!
We were absolutely disgusted but felt we were held to ransom as we were stuck in their office with no car!
Talk about being mis-sold!
We were essentially forces to pay their insurance or be stuck without a car.
Disgraceful and what was more, as we returned the car, every customer stepping off the bus from the airport was having the same problem!

34 working days after returning the car. No sight of my deposit or unused fuel money = 1014Euros. Booked through DoYouSpain. Same story: insurance with DYS worthless, staff rude when spoken to at Alicante airport, money taken and never returned...
I got an email few days ago that the 'accountant' of Dickmanns was directed to return my money. When called, I was told they money was sent over. That was last Wed (Monday today).
Still waiting....
update: after 35 or so working days I got my money back... I guess, there is hope...
3 emails, 4 phone calls (my sister lives near Alicante and she gave it to them in Spanish) and finally they returned my money. Still, lied about the dates of the transfer...

Steer Clear of Dickmanns at all costs
Like so many others we are still awaiting our deposit of 950 euros plus 98 euros petrol. We hired the car in early June and returned it on 13th in the same condition and full of fuel. We have sent numerous emails and they are full of excuses for not returning our money....they actually sent copies of the refund chits and when we said we hadn't received the funds they requested copies of our statements! It then transpired that they had a digit wrong in our full card number. They insist the money has left their account and they will investigate........yeah right!! Please avoid this company and warn as many others as possible!

Staff very unhelpful at Alicante. Deducted the Deposit on the night but took over 8 weeks to return after 3 phone calls and e mails. Strange it takes so long (30 WORKIING days) to refund but they can debit your credit card immediately.
Petrol is also a con. I left with full tank and returned it them with full tank BUT still had to pay refuelling charge!

Dickmanns deducted 2050 Euros from me after I returned a car half way through the holiday as it wouldn't start. They refunded the second car excess eventually which meant they had taken nearly 1000Euros deduction was for a scratch on the windscreen that we didn't do. We had taken out platinum cover with DoYouspain and eventually had most of the deduction refunded. They operate from what looks like a bread van in Murcia airport car park.
I feel like I've been robbed by Dickmanns
I too rented a car through Do You Spain. The company I chose was Dickmanns. I'd previously had good service from them and was happy to re-book.
However this time they took over €1000 deposit for my credit card which they still have. I rented the car on the 17th July and deposited it back on the 28th. On collection the car had damage on every panel including the roof and had over 58000kms on the clock. I wasn't bothered by this and the operative joked, 'at least I won't have to check it when you come back'.
On returning the vehicle it was quickly checked and signed for in the same condition as when I collected it.
No problem there then.
However I have now received only an €80 refund.
I emailed Dickmanns and I have had no reply.
I emailed Do You Spain, still no reply.
I use Do You Spain at least four times a year, every year. My parents the same, my Uncle too and all my/our family and friends.
This company have ruined all of this for all of us.
Something is amiss, I wouldn't be surprised if after August Dickmanns disappear with all our money. From what I've read here there are dozens of customers who are out of pocket.
I am going back soon, I won't be using Do You Spain or Dickmanns, but I will be contacting the local constabulary and visiting their offices!

Disgraceful rip off - Alicante airport branch.
When we returned our car to the Aiicante airport branch of Dickmanns the person who took it from us miraculously found two marks on the body work which were no more than 'wear and tear' marks - probably there when we picked it up but which did not appear on the inspection sheet. We were charged 380 euros and told to claim it back from our own insurance. As soon as we started to take photographs of the so called 'damage' the car was immediately take away out of the compound at break neck speed. It was all a very smooth operation with the person receiving the car linking smoothly with the desk. We will never use Dickmanns again and will tell all of our friends the same. Those companies who have them on their books should seriously consider whether they wish them to continue.
