Got to be the worst Delivery Company ever
Frankly if I could give DHL a big fat Zero stars - I would. I am over in Thailand and my son in the UK tried to send me urgent essential diabetic medication to me since I needed to stay a lot longer than I originally intended due to unforeseen circumstances.
The type of insulin I needed isn't available over here so he sent the medication to me in a package. He used DHL Express and it cost £58. DHL EXpress- hardly Express when it took 2 months to deliver the package. I won't describe all the ins and outs of dealing with these people but suffice to say I got pushed from pillar to post by DHL customer service department who promised to call me back but never ever did . Most of them didn't speak English and if they did you couldn't understand them as they spoke very quick pigeon English. Despite me and my wife calling and emailing them every few days and myself and my wife telling them that it was extremely urgent medication inside- DHL just sat on my package for the best part of 2 months and then had the cheek to charge me £123 for storage. They didn't care at all. We even called tge Customs Dept and they said they were waiting for DHL to reply which they never did. DHL were hopeless and very frustrating making promises and telling us outright lies all the time. Even the final delivery driver couldn't deliver my package because he couldn't read the official Thai address English on the package and my wife had to translate it into Thai for him otherwise I would never have finally received my package.
Would I use DHL Again Ever in the UK or abroad? Certainly not - in fact I would say the opposite- AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Disorganised, rude and not caring
Very, very unprofessional from the USA side and the Belfast side. Our package containing eastern medicine was mis-sorted and it took two days to figure it had been sent to Sweden instead of Northern Ireland. To boot, they cared not a bit how long it would take to get back to Northern Ireland, and I repeatedly had to call all three areas to check on the whereabouts. They gave me a measily tenner for my 3.5 hours on the phone troubles and serious stress. Given the other reviews, this seems to be normal practice for this lot. The people at the main UK centre were helpful, otherwise I would right a 'zero' in this box. Try to use a carrier that gives anything about you other than DHL.

I ordered spares from Spareto in Estonia to me in Cape Town South Africa. The item was picked up in Estonia and I could track it from DHL depot to DHL depot throughout it's journey. Customs was handled on my behalf by DHL and all customs fees were sorted and paid even before the item arrived in South Africa - therefore no delay at customs. Total time to arrive at my door after being collected by DHL Express was 4 days including a weekend. Overall a great experience.

I had a bike shipped from the UK to the USA and had nothing but problems with DHL. My bike was supposed to be delivered on 1/31/22. When I looked at the delivery page a vague statement on it made me think that I should give DHL a call. It said something like "DHL has contacted the importer for more information." Well, I was the importer and no one had contacted me. It turned out they needed information like my SS# for customs purposes. I didn't find this out until the package had already arrived in LA. They had 5 days to get this information from me but never contacted me. So I work out what they need and give it to them, plus a new invoice from the shipper. We're now several days past the scheduled delivery date. I'm told that my package will be delivered the next business day. This was at the end of the day so I expect it two days later. Nope. I call DHL at the end of the 2nd business day and am told it hasn't even left LA yet because it's an oversized package. The woman was helpful and said she would try to expedite it due to the problems I'd had and the bad information I had been given. I'm not sure if or how much she helped, but several days later, my package arrived.
I had very intentionally not signed up for signatureless delivery because I was taking possession of a rather expensive bike and I wanted to make sure it hadn't gotten damaged in shipping before taking it. Well . . . I knew that my bike had been delivered because I heard the box getting DROPPED by my front door. I went to the door to sign for it only to see the delivery van driving away. So much for "signature required"!! I inspect the box and it has several gaping holes in it. I can actually see wheel of the bike protruding from the box. Fortunately, wheels are pretty strong and all of the other holes managed to miss vital spots. My bike appears to have survived the DHL gorillas unharmed, but I'm really ticked at not only the customer service of DHL but also their handling of my package.
If I could give them zero stars, I would.
Charges for calling!
Disgusting experience of being charged for calling customer service. Given that it is not me who wanted to call, but DHL website told me to.
To top things up, they didn't warn that the call is paid immediately, they took the time to tell me how great their Privacy policy is and how my data is protected. Then follows the payment warning.
Charging customers without warning is unacceptable be it £0.01, £1 or £100.

Disgusting customer service. Exorbitant prices for little to no support. My package was stopped at one of their hubs, and then mysteriously sent back. No call. No email. Nothing as to inform me the reason. When I called, the reps were extremely unhelpful and they didn't try to help me find a solution. Do not use this company.

It takes 24 hours for a package to arrive in my city from Spain or Italy to Romania, but another +72 hours to deliver to my location which is a maximum of 10 km away from the DHL warehouse (Brasov).

Avoid if possible
Avoid if possible. Every second time they are delivering, something gets wrong. When delivery consists of several packages, they tend to get delivered separetely, get lost or stuck and so forth. Old IT systems, difficult to track, see and change personal info and delivery options.

DHL's service is appalling. I left goods in Spain I had bought in the UK, due to covid travels restrictions I couldn't return to collect them. Used DHL to bring them back to the UK.
DHL then mistakenly issued a charge for over £175 for VAT I supposedly owed - on clothes I had bought in the UK and was returning to the UK!! Called them, they told me it was THIER mistake and they were sorry. Despite this DHL then send me more forms to complete to get their mistake resolved. I have ADHD and dyslexia making form filling very difficult, so it has har enough completing all the forms needed to get my belongings back in the first places.
I have had to call multiple times ye they have sent me still more forms. I've spent ages on the phone with them and still no resolution.
What makes it even worse is, that despite telling two different agents on the phone i have ADHD and dyslexia and the issues these cause with completing forms, neither could resolve the issue over the phone. DHL is behind the times in not readily supporting customers with neurodiveristy, instead it penlises them for having it.
DHL has caused me nothing but stress, time and money - it is an awful company. DO NO USE DHL!

Looking at the reviews I’ve just read I couldn’t agree more. Completely unprofessional service. 4 days late and it was the dearest shipping option. Costing me money now with a time sensitive job stood. Tracking info never updated. Disgusted. Will never use them again. It wasn’t my choice but I’ll never deal with dhl again If you’re reading before using them then avoid them like the plague. Bloody Hermes could do better ffs.
Crooks, thieves, and liars
After weeks of waiting, I was finally notified on a Friday that my packages were held up for some kind of import fee or duty. When our AP tried to pay to release them on the following Tuesday, I was told that we had "missed the window" and that the shipment was being returned - and this could not be prevented regardless of our willingness to pay. Also, they claim no obligation to let me know that my package arrived - I was apparently supposed to just know.
If any of my vendors ever insists on using DHL to ship anything to me in the future, I will stop doing business with that vendor.
