Very poor journalism

I want to report on the sensationalist, gratuitous reporting by Devon Live of the death of a man from an overdose on the Exeter Live page. Much of the detail given was not newsworthy but designed to titilate the readership. This is not the first time I have been struck by the poor quality of journalism shown by this news service.

Another woke article,this time about…

Another woke article, this time about poor asylum seekers (they get three meals a day) saying that they are hungry.I would love three meals a day,can barely afford one. There is a very simple solution. Send them back to the safe country they left(hence saving them thousands of pounds) and tell them to feed themselves. We are a small country, and people here can't put food on the table. But we are supposed to feed, house and clothe them. Enough is enough, send them back.

Biased ‘Comments’

This website is awful.
- A completely biased comments section! Any remotely anti-Tory comment is immediately deactivated, yet they’re happy to publish misogynistic, misleading and crude content.
- Layout/functionality and the amount of advertising is shocking. Whoever designed the website needs to find a different career.

Spreads scaremongering and misinformation

Very bad news site, Posts and spreads misinformation about animals and wildlife such as seagulls having bird flu without even checking facts or scientific evidence. This causes people to deliberately harm them which in tern costs wildlife rescues and charitys more money many of which are already struggling for funding.

Don't bother, too many adverts.

With the storm currently raging I thought I would check Devon Live for an update, what a terrible site. Bombarded by adverts and very difficult to negotiate.
Next time I'll just tune into Radio Devon.

This Live sites appear to be full of…

This Live sites appear to be full of articles which regurgitate Social media comments from either side of any perspective, if I wanted to know what ‘Dave’ from Plymouth thought I can waste my time in other unchecked uninformed and free for all platforms myself. (I don’t!)

And the site content generally is so crammed with click bait causing poor and apparently untested functionality it makes for a frustrating and ultimately very short lived experience!

Check your site as a user now and again would be my advice.

Devon has such a beautiful landscape…

Devon has such a beautiful landscape BUT !!! Such a shame about all the very narrow lanes ( scratched car ) and very high dark badges!!!!!
You can not see any thing what so ever 🥴😳.
Unless you have a built in cherry picker 😣
Much rather travel to some where I can see views not dark hedges.

Content Good, Execution Poor

The almost total withdrawal by the BBC News in the southwest has left a vacuum which Devon Live tries to fill. Mostly it succeeds even if some of the content is questionable.

The articles though are poorly written and littered with spelling and grammatical errors suggesting that the journalists have very poor English skills, at times these errors can be quite funny and at other times very irritating.

The level of advertising makes the pages difficult to read, a good ad-blocker is essential, and most of the ads are puerile rubbish not intended for the British market so are a waste of time anyway.

But it fills a gap left by the withdrawal of the BBC from the southwest whose own pages rarely get changed now, sometimes going days without updating. If Devon Live could up their editorial standards they could become the top news agency in the area.
