they are more interested in hassling sellers than selling
The site is full of counterfeit items. They have the nerve to tell me my Fendi glasses aren't real, even though I provided the receipt for Nordstrom and the authentication card.

Great for Individuals, but Vulture Culture is Real
I've been a long-time user and have moved most of my selling back to Depop after they recently removed the seller fees - it's a real step toward supporting individual sellers. However, I have noticed a rise in 'vulture culture' where high-volume resellers spam-offer low prices on quality items just to 'bundle' and flip them for 4x the price.
I was recently targeted by this behavior where I was spam offered several times, lowballed after they already sent a higher offer, and then when they were ignored, bundled all of my items and took advantage of the seller discount which is there for goodwill. When I cancelled the sale because I was uncomfortable with this transaction that was starting to border on harassment, they took advantage of the review of the cancelled transaction to leave negative comments which the Depop team later had to help me get removed.
I find it absolutely awful that big resellers/scalpers like that would not only try to take advantage of smaller, casual sellers, but then also try to punish them when they don't get what they want. I'm very lucky that I've already made several sales with great feedback, but another seller could be easily ruined by something like that.
I'm concerned because this kind of behavior is creating a Poshmark-like environment, an app designed for closet-clearing that got taken over by professional resellers who treat casual sellers like their own personal wholesale suppliers. The end result, which can already be seen, is that casual users will eventually only be able to sell to these 'middlemen' instead of directly to buyers because traffic is being redirected, and casual sellers have to raise prices for their own protection. Affordable items are buried and prices are unnecessary inflated.
What's great about Depop versus other sites, is that it's a community exchanging genuinely nice clothing for affordable prices; it feels like a steal, but it's just good will between people who love fashion. Since Depop recently got rid of seller fees, I'm inclined to think that they're pivoting away from the predatory business model in favor of the more casual, and user protective selling. Additionally, the Depop team was very helpful to help me take the review down.
However, I want people to be able to find great vintage pieces for $15-25, and not have to go through the reseller for a $40+ markup for the 'aesthetic improvement.' Considering everything, I'm hopeful for the direction in which Depop's team will choose to go.

Great support for when I received an item that was not as described...
They helped me resolve my issue quickly and provided me with clear steps to complete the process. It gives me confidence to continue to use Depop in that they hold sellers to be honest and accurate and they have the integrity to right things when things arrive not as described.

No Seller Protections!!!!!
As a long-time buyer and now a first-time seller on Depop, this experience has made me hesitant to continue using the platform as a seller or even a buyer.
While buyer protection is important, the current system appears heavily imbalanced. Sellers can follow all guidelines, accurate descriptions, clearly stated details, and unedited photos and still be held responsible in disputes that are not based on factual inaccuracies.
In my case, a buyer made a late-night purchase (at around midnight and would continue to only communicate and message at midnight) and later claimed the color was “not as described” based on their own assumption about the color, despite the color being explicitly listed in the description. There was no conflicting information and no photographic evidence by the buyer provided to support her claim.
Depop ultimately sided with the buyer without clearly explaining how the item qualified as “not as described.” The response felt templated and did not address the specifics of the case.
This points to a broader issue: in subjective situations sellers appear to carry all the risk, even when they’ve done everything correctly. Without clearer standards and more balanced decision-making, it’s difficult for sellers to feel protected on the platform.
Given my experience, please use Poshmark, Vinted, Grailed or even Facebook Marketplace first.
Very Frustrating Seller Experience
I’ve sold two items on Depop, and while the buyers received their purchases quickly, the process of receiving my money has been unacceptably slow. It should not take days or weeks for funds to transfer to my bank account. This delay makes selling on Depop stressful and inconvenient. I expected a much more reliable and professional service. I strongly disagree with how Depop handles payments and would caution other sellers to be aware.
